Many kits no longer include [tail] decals, and they're especially missing from box art. But aftermarket [tail] decals are commonly available, and many kits have "work-around" decals where the thing is divided into two pieces or something. The Revell 1/32 109G isn't particularly rare, and much better kits of the subject in the scale have been issued since then, but that boxing might be of interest to someone for nostalgia purposes. (I have one in my own stash.) The Hawk P-47, circa 1964, is 1/48 scale. With its plating and "convertible" building variations, it was something of a "superkit" in its day (Retail $2, about twice what comparable airplane models sold for). What you have here is either the first or second boxing of the kit, again, of interest to modelers with a nostalgic bent. I believe the Laird racer is 1/32. I also believe it's been reissued by Lindberg. You might find out more about it by googling it under that label.

To quote Boris and Natasha, looking at a possible new house: "Is real eyesore. With little work, could be blight on whole neighborhood!"

Been a while since I built it (or had the hood up), but I'm pretty sure this one has a Pontiac engine.
-
These things look so cool with that teardrop hood, don't they?

Does it have the initials G. B.?

Ever read Kipling's poem "The Gods of the Copy-Book Headings"? If not, it's worth looking up.

I remember an interview on 60 Minutes 20 or 25 years ago, where somebody said, "If we don't do something to retain our manufacturing base, in about 20 years we're all going to be sitting around selling insurance to each other." As the two most common images on my TV these days seem to be Flo and that annoying little lizard, I suspect he was right.

AMT Altered wheelbase kit ?
Snake45 replied to milo1303s's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Chevelle is dead. Its lovely body was chopped up into a dirt track modified, alas. And despite what it says on the box, the '67 Corvette doesn't really belong with this group. It's not an AWB funny car at all, not even close. It's just a reissue of the annual 1967 Corvette Coupe. Its bones live on today in the oft-reissued '63 Coupe. -
Probably one of the better builds I've seen of this wretched kit. Well done and model on!

Been trying all day to reply to one thread in the All the Rest section. Can't do it on two different computers, in over 8 hours now. Keep getting a 404 We Can't Find The Page You're Looking For message. Not having any trouble replying to other threads, or even starting a new one, as you can see. WTH?

I didn't know Jaguars had trunks. I thought they had "boots."

IIRC, one of the birds was for the black scheme, the other was for the special gold scheme. Here's what it looks like built, right out of that very box.

Looks like you were able to Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome!

Almost sounds like an Onion story. Is there a more reliable source than CBS "News"?

2019 Mustang Bullitt

I prefer the 2008. And the '68 to either of them. -
'32 Ford Chopped Lakes-style Coupe - TROG Beach Racer No.2

Couldn't agree more. And that's what makes such projects so much fun! -
I just ran across this on another website, thought it would fit here: ---Carlo Maria Cipolla, an economic historian, is famous for his essays about human stupidity, such as "The Basic Laws of Human Stupidity". He viewed stupid people as a group, more powerful by far than major organizations such as the Mafia and the industrial complex, which without regulations, leaders or manifesto nonetheless manages to operate to great effect and with incredible coordination. These are Cipolla's five fundamental laws of stupidity: Always and inevitably each of us underestimates the number of stupid individuals in circulation. The probability that a given person is stupid is independent of any other characteristic possessed by that person. A person is stupid if they cause damage to another person or group of people without experiencing personal gain, or even worse causing damage to themselves in the process. Non-stupid people always underestimate the harmful potential of stupid people; they constantly forget that at any time anywhere, and in any circumstance, dealing with or associating themselves with stupid individuals invariably constitutes a costly error. A stupid person is the most dangerous type of person there is.

good source for 1/24 spark plug wire
Snake45 replied to fiatboy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Do you have a Hobby Lobby or other craft store? Go to the "beading" section and look around. Several different appropriately sized wires available there. And WAY cheaper than "model" branded products. -
Looks like something Kass and Bernie should be driving down a street lined with Wavy As. Nice finish. It seems to be based on the Revell kit; where did you get the Malibu scripts for the rear quarters? Are they photoetch?

Very clean build!

Testors brush paint
Snake45 replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've noticed it with some colors, some lots, some times. Testor paint was very consistent for decades. Now, it's a crapshoot bottle to bottle. Most are okay--and some are even better than they used to be--but some are barely usable.
