Revell 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302.....1/25 scale.
Snake45 replied to Dragonhawk1066's topic in Model Cars
Very clean build, well done! Model on! -
Imagine Steven Wright asking it. BTW, when you get pulled over and the cop asks you to recite the alphabet backwards, DON'T say, "Hell, I couldn't even do that sober!" BAM--admission of guilt! Say instead, "No, and neither can you. No one can. The only way anyone can do it is frontwards, and singing the little song."

Some nice stuff there! I wasn't building 100 years ago, but I still have a number of models I built 50 years ago. And maybe a few more.

Yes, of course.

Want to buy an apocalypse ready car?
Snake45 replied to iamsuperdan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
They're not showing the one I'd want--that hellacool jacked-to-heaven '68 Barracuda hardtop. -
My understanding is to build it the same basic way you did back when, BUT make it BETTER. That means removing seams and mold lines, better paint, and so forth.

You have to have read the original National Lampoon story that inspired the movie to know the actual answer to the question. (Too raw to repeat here.)

For all the old timers - 1965 McDonalds ad
Snake45 replied to Vietnam Vet67's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I've never ordered a fast food chicken sandwich in my life, but if I suddenly came down with a craving for one, I'd go to Chick-Fil-A, with KFC my second choice. IMHO the best fast food is Roy Rogers, followed by Burger King and Hardee's. That goes for burgers, fries, and shakes. McD's is at the very bottom of the ladder with me, and only barely qualifies as "food." -
Model Prices vs. Inflation
Snake45 replied to Lunajammer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
What cost $2.00 in 1966 would cost $16.21 in 2020. There are a lot of kits still produced/available that I was paying $2 (or less at discount stores) for in 1966. So it looks like kits are outrunning inflation by about 100%. -
COLORS BY BOYD BOTTLE PAINT
Snake45 replied to DavidChampagne's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I believe some of the Colors by Boyd made their way into the "little bottle" line. Fox example, Teal, which only appeared a few years ago, looks VERY similar to the Boyd Chezoom Teal. There might be others, too. -
For all the old timers - 1965 McDonalds ad

According to the interweb, current price (average in my state) of small fries is $1.75, and a small shake is $2.76. Can't even find price of a single basic hamburger (two cheeseburgers--$2.52). Kid's Happy Meal (drink but no shake) is $3.14 (but does include a toy probably worth about 4 cents). I don't eat McDonald's unless there is absolutely NOTHING else available. -
"Holy Grail" Tempest finally acquired thanks to Model King
Snake45 replied to bonehead23's topic in Drag Racing
Very nice! You captured the look and feel of these things pretty well. Model on! BTW, this kit is not SUPER-rare. There are several on eBay right now, and a half dozen or more of them have sold within the last 90 days for $40 or less--pretty good price for something OOP. AFAK the molds still exist so it could be reissued again at some point. -
I could swear someone here mentioned Ice Station Zebra, but I can't find it. Must have been in that thread that went bye-bye for some reason. Anyway, I watched it last night. Had never seen it. It's not too bad up until the scene where Patrick McGoohan tells Rock Hudson, finally, what the mission is and the movie's about. That's the high point of the movie. If you turn it off right there and assume it's all gonna work out, you'll have saved youself some time, because after that it gets stupider by the minute. Saw The Guns of Navarone last week for the first time in years. Not horrible but not great. Guns of Navarone, Ice Station Zebra and Where Eagles Dare are all basically the same movie. Where Eagles Dare is probably the best of the three. Hey, it's got Clint Eastwood in it.

I have a vague recollection of the story...

Worlds most affordable superbird
Snake45 replied to Scott8950's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Actually, it's not THAT far off from the "Stupidbird" I'm building for the 2021 Cannonball group build. Mine will be in overall primer, though. -
Seems to be an original annual. If so, cherish it! It has the correct interior, unlike the '80s reissues.

Just watched News of the World, the Tom Hanks movie, on HBOMAX. Very most way excellent, and suitable for the whole family. Highly recommended.
