  1. The most "glaringly absent" movie car I can think of is the Aston-Martin DB5, but I don't see AMT doing that.
  2. They'd have to include figures of Steve McQueen and Ali MacGraw to get my money.
  3. Have your cake and eat it too: Do a nice factory paint job with chrome trim on the Tempest body, then put it on the Nova PS chassis. You'll have to come up with a low-rise intake system to avoid cutting the hood, but that shouldn't be a problem.

Hey, I've seen way worse custom models that started out with way better parts! Congrats on making something out of darn close to nothing! One thing, you're never gonna see another one like it on the contest table! Model on!
  5. A few weeks ago the words "nuclear chicken" were used in some context on Dana Loesch's talk show, and of course she remarked, as she does from time to time, that "Nuclear Chicken" would be a great name for a rock band. I guess she's too young to know that it's already been done.

Not my thing at all but I respect and admire your creativity and craftsmanship. Well done and model on!
  7. I airbrush enamels thinned with lacquer thinner and I've never noticed a huge difference in ambient conditions. My normal painting garb is shorts and T-shirt and bare feet and if I'm not comfortable in my basement wearing that--too cold or too hot/sweaty--I just don't paint. Rattlecans are another story. Temp and especially humidity are a big deal there. The worst IME is Duplicolor. And almost any kind of clear gloss.
  8. Exactly what form will this take? Do we have to log in to somthing, or what?
  9. A friend of my son's has this Merlin in his garage: Here's my kid and his buddy:
  10. I didn't get this, and won't, just passing it along from a DMW email I got this morning. Jada has a new Supernatural '67 Impala 4DHT, with opening trunk and goodie box and Dean Winchester figure, 1/24, at a very reasonable price. I think this is a new body. It might be based on their existing 1/24 '67 Impala 2DHT, which I reviewed a while back and was favorably impressed with. I won't be buying this because its roof is even worse than the Green Light model, but others might be attracted to the figure or the junk in the trunk. https://www.diecastmodelswholesale.com/1967-chevrolet-impala-ss-sport-sedan-black-and-dean-winchester-diecast-figurine-supernatural-2005-2020-tv-series-hollywood-rides-series-1-24-diecast-model-car-by-jada/

  12. Very cool project and thanks for sharing it with us! Looks like you're off to a great start. Keep us posted and drive on!
  13. There have been several 1/32 models of the P-51 and Spitfire (which both used the Merlin) that included engines. I'm not familiar with all of them so can't tell you which one this might be.

  15. Seldom are peteski and I in complete agreement, but this is one of those rare times.
  16. Tamiya is hard to find where I live and I don't feel like mail-ordering it. I've only used it on a couple jobs. The rest have been Testor/Model Master lacquers, with a couple Krylon and Rustoleum jobs thrown in.
  17. I was hoping someone after me would post 4. I was going for the firing order of a small block Chevy (and many other V8s).
  18. After using an airbrush exclusively for about 30 years, about a decade ago I started using rattlecans if I can get the color I want readily and inexpensively. I'd have to think a while to remember my last all-airbrush paint job, though I do recall using the airbrush to touch up some paint on at least three models in the last two or three years. Oh, just remembered my last all-airbrush job: a nice royal blue on a Mustang AWB funny car last year. Had been a while before that one.

  20. Check the label and see if it has silicone in it. If it does, you probably won't be able to paint over it. I polish with Wright's Silver Cream, a silver polish that is a mild, water-based abrasive with no chemical component. I could probably paint after polishing with that, but admit that I've never tried. Time to do a spoon test. Polish a plastic spoon or junk body with your Novus and see if it'll take the clearcoat.
  21. Very cool, very clean! You don't see many of these around here so thanks for sharing it. Well done and model on!
  22. Very VERY cool! I don't know that book specifically but I have fond memories of of a number of modeling books from the '60s and '70s. My latest acquisition was a book published by or in conjunction with the War Department in WWII showing how to build 1/72 airplane models for military ID training.
  23. How I envy you! I'm trying to piece together a Dyno Don Maverick out of a "distressed" promo and various random kit parts. I have everything I need, basically, but have to cut the hood out of the promo body and then replace one missing A-pillar.
