Probably true but no reason it couldn't be issued as "California Custom Mustang" or "Hollywood Custom Mustang" or some such moniker. I wonder if the Barris estate maintains any rights to the design, though.
-
Not my thing at all but there's no denying that your craftsmanship is absolutely SUPERB! Dunno if I've ever seen better on a model of this type. VERY well done and model on!
-
I never saw these at my Ollie's, but that explains why I was able to score one for just $15 (still a good price) from a vendor at the local toy show couple years ago.

I got a "back in stock" email from DMW this morning and noticed that they have these again. Good price on a nice model if you're interested in having a GTO on the shelf: https://www.diecastmodelswholesale.com/products.php?product=Ferrari-250-GTO-Red-1{47}24-Diecast-Model-Car-by-Bburago&showHidden=true

The Official EBay Discussion Thread
Snake45 replied to iamsuperdan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've been watching an item (not a model car) for a week, opening price $25, no bids for days, finally somebody antes up the opener, sits there for a few more days. Today was the last day. It was at $40 all day. I submitted a bid in the high 50s with 5 seconds to go, and it flashes YOU HAVE BEEN OUTBID. PLEASE BID $89 OR HIGHER. And then it's over. Final price: $163!!!! Wow. Somebody wanted it WAY more than I did. -
Huh, I checked and you're right. I must have been thinking of the solid lights in the '66 fastback AWB funny. My bad!

Navy Chevy Fueler query?
Snake45 replied to Matt Simpson's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It's basically kerosene. -
I just did a quick scroll through this thread. The only two models I definitely recognize from the BOYD Build thread are Straightliner59's Junior Fueler and my own '66 Skylark. There might be a few others; I think maybe that '67 Lemans was in BOYD a while back. I think maybe a few other models from this thread eventually got finished, but not as part of the BOYD Build project. In the last few months I've seen a few "Under Glass" models where the builder stated they were started long ago, but they didn't participate in BOYD even though they'd have definitely been eligible. Last time I counted, I think over 80 models had been completed in BOYD so far, and IIRC we're on the 11th round. I've completed at least one in every round, and I think a couple others have, too.

Last year he played a retirement/nursing home resident on a Netflix or Showtime (I forget which) comedy series. It wasn't a bad show and I think another season is planned. But his character died in the show, so there was never any question of him coming back, except possibly via flashbacks or something.
-
Somewhere along the line, the chassis got dual exhaust too. The original '66 Mustang GT had separate clear and red plastic head and taillight lenses. I don't remember if the HT/convert did too, but today those are all solid chrome parts.
-
Yah, it seems to be in right-side-up in that pic.
-
I've never made any secret of the fact that this thread was the inspiration and the seed of idea for the BOYD build thread. You truly set off something great here, Tom!
-
Those molds became the Sonny & Cher Mustang. I'd like to see THAT reissued--maybe even with the cool custom half-top from the '66 HT/convertible kit.
-
You beat me to it, and that was the first thing I was gonna mention. VERY well done, and model on!
-
Pretty sure he died a few months ago, or maybe even last year. (I saw Bartender Ted from Love Boat on Josh Gates Tonight last week, though.)
-
I can't tell for certain, but could you have the grille in upside down? They DO have a top and a bottom. Try flipping it over and see if it fits better.
-
RIP, Big Ed. Enjoyed your performances for many years. Does that make Betty White the Last Man Standing of the MTM Show regulars?
-
If you're going to paint it bright red, you have no worries at all. Any orange that "bleeds through" (actually it does no such thing) would only brighten up your red. For bright red paint jobs, I prime with a flat white, and I'd even use yellow if I had some handy.

Very cool, very pretty! Thanks for sharing it.

GM Marina Blue Rattle Can Paint

Well of course you did, but that's cheating! We thought you were trying to get there with something readily available and relatively inexpensive. -
I never built any BP Defiants as a kid, so couldn't build one for this group build. I was heavily into 1/72 airplanes around 1963-65 or so, but I was mainly a Revell WARBIRD! kid. Only Airfixes I can remember building right now were the B-17G, the DH Mosquito, and the Bf 110. Hmmmmm.... Another possibility might be the Monogram box-scale Piper Tri-Pacer. I've got a couple of those, unbuilt, in the stash, and I definitely built one as a kid....
-
If you're talking about the ex-Monogram 1/48 F4U-4, the wing fit is the LEAST of that kit's problems! Yah, I've done a few of them. I'm thinking more along the lines of the ancient Revell box-scale kits of the '50s. I think I have the F-89 Scorpion and the B-25 on hand, both of which I built as a kid. Would be a blast to do either of those again. Of course I wouldn't really want to do a "replica" of how I built them when I was 6 or 8 years old; I'd have to at least lay a halfway decent paint job on them....

1/25 Revell '63 Corvette Sting Ray Coupe SnapTite
Snake45 replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
It's a bucket, with separate seats. But here's a twist: the roadster and coupe interiors are NOT identical. I was building both at the same time and painting the interiors the same way. Came time to install them and I just picked the nicer of the two and put it in the roadster. And then found I couldn't put the other interior in the coupe! It turns out there's some slight difference in the mountings, I don't remember what the problem was, but I eventually made it work.
