  1. saw a new beetle rsi on the home from work this morning
  2. Washing in warm water should make the decals come off fairly easily
  3. the t2 will be a snap type kit of a van, its not released yet but t is available to pre order
  4. Recent arrivals. I should have paid more attention with the amx, I assumed it was a 2 in 1 kit but its custom only. I'm sure I can do something with it though. The thames was a lucky find and the bug van and trailer is from c1
  5. Cool little car,
  6. The thing that stands out most for me about scale are the engines. I have a good variety of kits in 24 and 25 scales and I'm sure some of the engines could be swapped around and most people would never notice, but at the same time you would notice if i swapped the sets about. as they are a part all of us would see are out of scale but you can get away with 25 scale in a 24 car but not the other way about. In my 24 scale vw kits the are afew discrepancies between manufacturers, the gunze split seems a little squashed length ways compared to the tamiya and the italeri seems a little bulbous on the width but decent on the length. With the hasegawa and revell vans the scale seems comparably better than the bugs and likewise the tamiya and gunze ghias scale pretty well together. The scale differences seem more obvious between the us cars and the mpc 1/25 firebird boddy is a lot smaller that the revell 1/24 but the engines are very close in size though I haven't tried swapping them around to check but i suspect it would be difficult to notice once they are in the bay

  8. it depends which model you want and how detailed. For a nice curbside you cant really go wrong with tamiya if you want a 911 or boxster. If you want full detail fujimis enthusiast series are about the most detailed and they have the 356 and 911 aircooled versions. They also do some curbside versions so take care when ordering to get the versions you want. The revell kit isn't too bad either but compared to the others is a little lacking but its also cheaper and has an engine. Hasegawa have a number of the 924/944/968 type cars too which are nice and some of them have engines. Also italeri have some porsches but the only one i have is the 928 s4. I believe amt also have a 911 in their range but I have no experience of it so cant say if its good or not
  9. If you cant find them uscp are happy to add wheels to their list, they did stock vw mk3 golf wheels for someone on here a while back and they are on the list now. scale production do have 16" e50s with centrelocks though
  10. just checked scaleproduction and they only have the 16s in 4 stud
  11. tamiya sierra rs500 racecars or scale production
  12. I like your trick for the fuel fillers, going to have to remember that one
  13. Lovely colour, it really suits the caddy
  14. I use the tamiya smoke but brushed on. It probably works best on bumpers and grilles though as the excess pools in the gaps and looks very effective on the grilles. I've also heard of tinting future or whatever it called now then using it as a dip instead of brushing it on. I haven't tried the future method myself so maybe someone that has could chine in with their experiences. This bumper and grille were done with brushed on tamiya
  15. cool, I like your colour choices
  16. here you go, the only pic of the tyres in the fenders and a later pic that shows the direction its going, the wheels are now the same size but artillary style and the front is lower
  17. If it was as good as bmf I'm sure someone would have posted about it before now mate,
  18. As I said at the start I like rubber bands but it depends on the vehicle. I'll list whats on my bench at the moment with the wheels and tyres I'm using. 65 c10 on big truck rims with rubber bands 20something f350 on truck rims with off road tyres (liftrd) 39 chevy on rubber bands 30 model a on big n little large diameter wheels but with 60 profile tyres to fill the fenders mk3 golf van on 16" rims with stretched tyres 37 ford on pegasus dodge style wheel n caps 48 ford on steels with blackwalls mk4 golf on 18 bbs with stretch tyres bmw e21 on 14" ronals but i had no choice but to use stretch tyres on it as the arches are pretty small a couple of tractors on big rims but i guess they get a pass lol 64 caddy but undecided on rims for it delahete on chrysler atlantic rims with matching delaheye hauler bug hot rod on early ford wires vw t1 pick up on porsche wheels To me though the stance is just as important as the wheels, and big wheels have to have brakes that fit. I have built a few cars on smaller wheels and have some lined up to be built. I wouldn't put big wheels on a flatty powered rod just as I wouldn't put white walls on a golf. I enjoy seeing stock cars but at the same time I have little interest in building one as I see them as the starting point for the builds i do, even if their just lowered on wheels.
  19. all the parts for it seem to be included in this, there are extra seats not used in the instructions which are the same as the bus version and 3 sets of bumpers
  20. Nice work, the starion still has a modern look to it compared to other cars of the era
  21. My fav Clint Eastwood movies were the two set on Iwo Jima, they were really well made and the lack of modern style explosions and noise really made them stand out. Nothing wrong with Gran Torino, but the war ones I'd put up alongside schindlers list and saving private ryan
  22. I'm sure it will be a good seller, I got two of them and I'm sure I'll get at least one more when the bay window van (t2) gets released later in the year. Its a snap type kit but shouldn't be too bad to convert with a t1 chassis. As for the first one I have to decide which of the 3 bumper options to use and whether to fit brm's or sprint stars but otherwise it will be slammed and stock(ish)
  23. cool, i'll be following
