  1. Theres a hydrogen fuel station on the main pier here, and another one in the industrial estate. They're pretty compact units for what they are. About half the size of a shipping container. I dont know if its made onsite though but i suspect it is as I've never seen any obvious transportation of it as i'd expect it to be the most dangerous part as things are now. I'll get some pics of it if anyones interested
  2. and solar works better when its overcast, hot sunny days make it unreliable
  3. I'm not sure how the link was still there, I went back and edited to be blank?? I did intend to try again lol
  4. Never seen that kit before, I might have to try and find one
  5. Theres a ferry where i live thats been running on hydrogen for 3 years now. Its been more reliable since it was converted from diesel due to running cooler. It has another benefit too as the electricity used to make it can be an inline system so you can still use the same electric to power your toaster or whatever so its much more enviroment friendly than electric. You dont need to destroy the enviroment to build it either, unlike batteries. I know the company i work for made sure when they got the new boat built that it would be a fairly simple task to convert if it becomes the better option. Just now though i think hydrogen is more suited to transport companies rather than individual users. The initial investment is high but the fuel savings should make it much more viable for fleets
  6. revell having both would make sense, its the revell kamai and esci kit i was comparing
  7. I think they might be the same kit, I've had both and other than wheels I dont recall any difference
  8. Received my part of the trade with gbtr6 and would happily trade again, I'll be able to start to build the fibrefac bonito fairly soon. I already had it planned when it popped up on the autoquiz
  9. 1. A split window vw bug, the oval and later ones have been done but the split is sadly lacking. It could come with options to do a wartime bug or a civilian up til 1949 and it wouldn't need anything chromed. Include 2 sets of bumpers and you have a 2 in 1 stock kit. If it were to be done I think hasegawa are idealy placed to do it as they could use their 1/24 kubelwagen for many of the parts and they already have a curbside bug that the body could be modified on to suit. They could also do a fantasy race version with the driver named Ivan Hirst (bonus point if you know that reference)

  11. you could use coffee stirrers, once they are stuck down they sand well and you can get them sanded down pretty thin. for the cost of the wood kit you can get well over a thousand sticks. They are simple to weather as well,
  12. I get a strange thing in my left hand, on top of general shakiness. If I'm holding small parts in it I have to use my thumb and forefinger as the other 3 keep trying to bend the wrong way. I've tried using clamping tweezers to hold the parts but that just makes the shakiness more of a problem. I have found that one of those anti rsi pads for computers helps if i rest the pinky side of my hands on it when working. Its still not better than non shakey hands but you might find it helps you too
  13. I guess they wont be lending Richard Hammond one this time
  14. While I've never had a pet snake I did transport one to the islands for a friend of mine. Its original owner was in jail so his girlfriend did nothing to look after it. I found out my friend was looking for a snake so got in touch with him to see if it was what he wanted. He spent a load of cash getting everything he needed shipped up to arrive in time and was very happy with it. I can agree their leavings stink, which was part of the reason i took it away cos the tank it was in was near an inch deep in it. I got a laugh on the way back on the boat too. I was sitting in the quietest part of the boat so the snake didn't get stressed out and took it out to show one of the crew on the boat. This was about 3 in the morning and he had experience with snakes so he was showing me how to exercise it on the floor when some kid came jumping down the stairs and slipped across the floor. The kid looked up ready to cry only to fine himself face to face with a snake. The kid stopped running about after that. I dont know what kind of snake it was, only that it wasn't dangerous (to humans)
  15. I appreciate the offer Anton but I already have 2 of them. Its not a bad kit for its time but the engine is pretty blobbular compared to current kits
  16. A proper drag beetle with vw engine, and in 1/24 since the vast majority of vws are in that scale. It wouldn't need to be a retool either as the bodies and chassis are already done. just some extra engine parts, wheels and a cage. Id buy loads of them
  17. The esci transit with the red van on it is on ebay uk quite often and the prices have dropped a lot since the italeri reboxings came out. They still go for around$60 US but it about a third of what they were going for
  18. she chose it, her words were I dont want a blue bedroom again, so she chose blue
  19. Thanks for the link, I've been missing my custom fix since motortrend blocked everyone in europe
  20. Try and find polystyrene blocks (forget the pellets) maybe an inch or 2 thick and use them to pack them into boxes, above, below and on each side. You can cut holes for the mirrors and that. Make sure they are tight in the box, and use good strong boxes. With trucks you can add more of the blocks behind the cab. You want something like how diecasts are packed as the end result. If there are parts you know will fall off I'd remove them before packing and label them for each model in baggies. Cars I would do the same way individually in seperate boxes that can then be put in larger boxes for transport. A kitchen appliance store might be a good source for polystyrene blocks and good strong large boxes and they will probably be happy for you to take as much as you need so they dont have to pay to get rid of it. I f you feel brave you could even give the models a shake to see if bits fall off before boxing them up. I'd also use some thinner polystyrene sheets cut to fit between the wheels and under body. The aim is to try and stop any movement when its all packed
  21. I never know where inspiration will come from next. It could be a car drives past and the colour seeds an idea, a pic i find online, or just a loose part of a model that I think i can use for something or just from sketching when i'm bored. Obvlously model forums provide a lot of inspiration too
  22. I get mine from an office supplies place (thumbtacks)
  23. Painted my mums bedroom for her yesterday and all seemed well. Woke up today to find she hates the colour she chose (a kinda nice pale grey/blue) and she was in tears over it so now I'm repainting it white instead of trying to get my dscv17 bug finished. Hopefully get both done today cos I'm back at work on weds
