  1. the best stocks of evergreen seem to be fred aldous in the uk Ken. At least they seem to have every size I've been looking for in stock, some places never seem to have it in stock
  2. I've been using la's totally awesome cleaner even on resin. the only place i've found it in the uk is amazon but it works. I had the same problem with brake fluid, a bodyy i had in it overnight crumbled when I took it out. I'd probably strip the chrome in bleach or mr muscle oven cleaner before putting it in the totally awesome to remove the last of primer. Its not a stinky cleaner either unlike dettol which makes your entire house smell
  3. I managed to drop my sprue cutters on the bug this morning. Being a pearl paintjob I was worried I would have to repaint the whole thing but since I had nothing to lose I tried to touch it up first and it went better than i could have hoped. Since I dont have any luck blending clear i decided to clear the whole body and did the hood and trunk to make sure they matched. I think i got lucky this time. You can still see it but I had a visor I was thinking about using so this has forced my hand.
  4. Purchased an item over a week ago on the auction site and it still hasn't been sent. There was no delay on my end and the payment must have cleared by now
  5. If you are after bigger diameter brakes hobby design do a few different sets in resin and pe. Pretty nice to work with too but they need 18" or bigger wheels.
  6. I've had some paint from a very similar named ebay store. I dont know if it s the same place though but if it is there were no problems and delivery was faster than some stuff that was fairly local to me
  7. pretty sure 1920 is after ww1 Matt,
  8. It is the roof scoop, I just fitted one to a tamiya bug decklid. The side scoops dont have the flatter centre section and are rounded on every surface
  9. If you mix the leftovers with a mk escort kit you build an rs1700t!
  10. x2 on what they said. Its a very pretty colour, especilly with the white walls
  11. Got some paint on the interior today and while it was drying I did some more on the trailer. The pull out cooker took a lot of thinking before I just did a simple slide out version. I tried a few different ways to make it slide out including making a small wheeled trolley but in the end a slotted sheet won. I was overthinking it for the first attempts
  12. Its classed as a public road mate, but if you happen to have a crash you are responsible for paying the tracks lost earnings and armco repairs.
  13. Its open to the public TJ. Anybody can take any car or tour bus on it for around $25 a lap. They still have manufacturer test days too. 8 mins though is fast but there are many faster cars. Here a sub 8 min mk1 golf
  14. Awesome to see a modern style drag pop, nice work
  15. Not yet, I need to finish off a few vws first to make space on the bench, shouldn't be long though as it on top of the pile. I did try the jag engine and its going to work better than the hemi
  16. Hi Folks, I'm hoping someone can point me to a source for sheets of turned gold leaf style decel sheets that would be suitable for cutting names from for a old style bug racer
  17. I sat down to do the foil on the bug but half way through doing it I realised I had everything needed to a custom camper too. So since I have a load more time than I thought I made a start on it. I'm using the c1 models trailer I got last year as the base with sides cut from some styrene sheets. All the interior so far is from the t3 camper I'm making into a pick up. I'm in the middle of making a swing out cooker to be under a hatch at the rear
  18. I'm waiting for the scammell to come back, got a custom idea for it that going to take 2 cabs. It was kfs originally but they sold a lot of their molds last year and this place got it
  19. this place does truck stuff too https://modellersresource.co.uk/
  20. I bought a joblot of the humbrol acrylics a while back, and they are poor quality. They seem to have some grit in them and dont cover very well by brush or spray. I ended up going back to the enamels as at least they are usable. I like the revell acrylics though, they cover well but I've only used the ones you get in the gift sets. Not tried the revell enamels yet
  21. Clear is on, I think I might get away with the finish straight out of the can on this one
  22. Cool, the plymouth looks tough. Should look really tough on the ford
  23. At the front I made it a friction fit on the suspension arms so it will wear out if used too much, and at the rear I'm cutting down some rubber bands to replace the centre of the driveshafts. I will be solid gluing them to the brake drums to make sure the stance does what most slammed vws do for that broken look. I previously tried to do it on my hebmuller using small sewing elastic at the front glued to the suspension arms but it was a little loose once assembled. When you get to your bug you'll need to do some small mods to the rear interior bucket, to get mine to fit I added a small strip of plastic 0.3mm under the upper engine bay part to tilt it ever so slightly back, and the front underhood part needed a little reshaping on the front from just behind the centre of the fenders down both sides but its both very minor mods but needed to get the body on the pan correctly.
  24. Got the lime gold on. It laid down much nicer than the hot pink I used on the datsun. No blotchiness so it only needed a couple of coats unlike the pink that took loads of layers to get even. I'm looking forward to getting all the chrome and foil on but i've got a lot of clear to go on before that. I'm using a hebmuller dash to make the rhd conversion simpler
