  1. I think his show, along with bitchin rides and texas metal seem to be the most down to earth of the car shows and they show how they do things. fast n loud are more about how much money things are worth and shouting now which is a shame cos the earlier shows were more easy going in a way. I much prefer to watch people that enjoy their work cos it shows through and makes a better show. I still need to see season 3 of full custom garage though. The british one (goblin works garage) just seem to be trying too hard and seems like a shiny version of vegas rat rods. You knoe the type, we're nearly finished this nice car but i found this candelabra in someones dumpster so we just need to find a way to make it work as tail lights and incorporate as many other bits of trash as we can.
  2. 1.7 miles so its just a take off and landing really. one of the local distilleries used to sponsor the planes so they were all black then but now they are back to blue and white. I couldn't count how many times I've flown on them, and i was the cleaner in the hanger for a few months, 6 hours of mopping sucked but i got to watch the engineers dismantle them which was kinda cool. always wanted to put one of the aircooled v8s in an old vw. they still use the trilanders in the western isles too
  3. they use them like buses up here, 20 odd flights a day and it has the world record for shortest scheduled flight, less than 2 mins.
  4. I've been thinking about doing the vw hot rod pick up he did in series 2 of full custom garage. I'd probably give it a supercharger though
  5. I guess I'm lucky, where i am is pretty much the test bed for renewable energy so we have too much power locally. They are currently setting up the worlds most powerful water generator on one of the smaller islands that generates power from the movement of the waves, and most farms have their own windmills as well as the boat i work on has a windmill for when shes tied up at night. Our competitor made a big fuss over switching to wind power at night, and when our company owner was asked what he thought he replied they should have done it years ago cos he's been doing it since he started the company. There's still some windmills enron put up working away without any problems. There's loads of solar power too but its mostly just for heating. When the company i work for got their new boat she was specced to be able to switch to hydrogen power to make even more use of the windmill, but i think they'll wait and see how it works for the boat their testing it out on to see if it commercially viable. Even loganair are looking into converting their fleet of britten norman islander aircraft over to electric since all their flights are less than 50 miles each way. Chances are if you get your power from almost any renewable energy, it was tested in orkney first
  6. Cool project. When you clean the clearly scale parts make sure to give them a really good clean, whatever release agent they use can be a pest when it comes to painting, but the parts are really good and worth the extra effort
  7. Got another fujimi vw golf mk3 and the paints to build this, but mine will be on teddy bear wheels
  8. My sister has an 05 plate focus. It has to be one of the worst cars she has owned even though its the newest. If its raining water seeps into the engine through the no1 spark plug and its runs terribly, so I've done a temp fix for that using some old number plates to make the water drip down elsewhere but puddles still make it conk out. Shes lucky to get 2000 miles out of a set of tyres and I've had the alignment checked loads. The door handles inside and out on the passenger front door dont like being attached to the mechanism so I've taken the door card out so she can use the door. On the plus side it a good car to take stuff to the dump with, and the seats are pretty decent
  9. Nice looking caddy, do you know if there are any kits of this body style?
  10. Thanks guys, I'll try the glue first to see how it goes for me. Luckily the kit has an extra lot of the blue ribbon so I'll practice with it to save the black ribbon. Thanks again
  11. I'd use the same paint brand that you normally use for models. There is a wide range of shades of red oxide though, some are more brown, some are more orange and i've even had some that were pink.
  12. thanks mate, I'll give it a shot
  13. Cool bug mate
  14. Sweet build
  15. Hi Folks, I'm currently building the roger clark mk1 escort and I'm having a problem with the seatbelts. Does anybody have a tip for cutting the ribbon for the belt that will stop it fraying the ends? They're putting up a bit of a fight with the ends fraying making it near impossible to thread into the pe parts. Its pretty much all thats stopping me finishing the build and i'd rather use the pe than the decals cheers
  16. you can make your own too, just put some wire wool in a salt water solution until the solution evaporates, then use a morrtar and pestle to grind the wire wool down to a powder. You can then use it anywhere you want rust by adding it to wet paint or sprinkle it on the areas you want rust, seal with clear then paint over the top and sand it back in the rusty areas
  17. eat more greens mate, I used to get them and eating green veg seems to help reduce them
  18. it could be someone has tried to log in on your account, if that happens they will usually email or text you. Someone did that on my account and got a new tv out of it
  19. icm do a pretty good range of ts but they are all stock versions
  20. have you had any problems with paypal? or do they not send to your area?
  21. No, unless you let it gas out, then use an auto clear to seal it from the hok. I tried it over bare tamiya a couple months ago and the results weren't good, but with the clear it worked nice
  22. Its another duplicolour product. Its meant for bumpers and trim but it seems to work on models too. Since I started using it, masking seems to work better and I've had a lot less crazing
  23. I've not had any problems with duplicolour primers, but i always use the clear plastic primer for the first couple of coats. The one i have trouble with is simoniz primers, complete waste of money unless you want already dirtied thinners. It looks like it has gone on well, so you leave it a couple of days before topcoating and then the primers cracks under the paint after a couple of weeks
  24. The orkney islands, right at the top (and not in a box of the aberdeen coast which really wrecked an oilmans plan for a bridge)
  25. While we were on lockdown for 12 weeks, i stayed out at my mums with my sister and we had a jigsaw set up for when we needed a break from each other. The only rule we had was if you are working on the jigsaw, leave us alone cos it was for some peace. Between us we averaged one 1000 piece each week and it kept us from fighting. Nobody wanted to the baked beans one though
