I made a start on these today. I printed them both from files by macone1 on cults and the lincoln v12s are files from mcs design, also on cults. The suspension on the coupe will be independent front and rear but i forget who those files are from. The coupe is getting modern suspension and box (box from motabas) while the convertible will be more stock components. i'll be robbing the top boot from the monogram 41 for the convert. all i've got done so far is sanding the coupe parts ready for primer. The body i printed for the coupe has some flaws but i'll show some tricks for fixing them with printer resin and using resin as filler engine and suspension parts theres a full convertible and engine in this box

Are model kits toys. ?
stitchdup replied to Richard Bartrop's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
yes model kits are toys, but its what we do to them that changes them into more than toys -

i give it two weeks before its donated for the tax breaks like most other art like this -
I keep my sprue for mixing paints. i cut lengths of it and leave a nub on one end. i find paint mixes faster than using a cocktail stick. For shapes i like to use aircraft kits or beetles to get curves and some of the shapes you can get might surprise you. for example a 1/48 de havilland vampire wing hides a wide arch (minus te actual arch) monogram mustang rear quarter inside it which is on my future builds list.

Tape Residue Frustration

you could try polishing compound. i've had success with it on tamiya tapes when they leave the glue behind (though now they seem to eat into the paint) -

What to build?
stitchdup replied to Jordan White's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I like to customise everything i build. sometimes it might be just lowered on wheels and sometimes its change everything. it really depends on my mood at the time. i usually have a plan when i start but nothing fully defined because i never know what i'll find in my parts box and that can start another build too. i tend to lose interest in my more involved builds once most of the fab work is done so 'll chuck a basic kit on the bench for a quick build. in fact i think i'll do one today cos i'm in the mood for painting something with a brush and i've just printed this and it turned out pretty good files from digital surface on cults -

if you click on the 3 dots in the top right of the text box it should give you options to edit. do this on the first post and you should be able to edit the title. i think there is a limit on how long you have to do this. I'm not sure how long the time limit on editting is so if it doesn't work we can still do it for you

its obviously being blown by the wind. an appropriate chain from the wheel to the lampost should stop it blowing further

it wont matter where the kits are molded, there is still import duty on the raw materials so the production will stay mostly in china, where wages are much much lower. if a mold is in china it wont be leaving china, no matter who owns it. remember what happened to the revell model a coupes an they just changed factory.

Roadkill is Dead!
stitchdup replied to Daddyfink's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
i hope somewhere picks up some automotive content instead of another lazy rehash of an already tired concept. i enjoy seeing people working with their hands to create something or bring something back. in the uk we only have 3 main car shows and one of them (5th gear) is yawn inducing but car sos is good while wheeler dealers is a watch the episode once. shows like roadkill, bitchin rides or texas metal are ones you can watch again and again and we need shows like that, the same way we need hard copies of magazines. we really need people that are proud of their work to make shows that let us see why they are proud. we need to have more mastery than mediocrity on tv and that goes for all the hobby shows, whether its cars, knives or baking, show us the pros, not idiot celebs playing for giggles. -

it must be how it looks next to a merc or gm from the time. the mopars just look old and dumpy, while the merc and chevy look sleek and fast. There are a few custom mopars but most seem to be converts or the business coupe body shapes. i did find these -

it looks like handfulls of the excess parts. even if it might be in the pic, theres no guarentee you'll get that part. it could be a good source for detail parts but you're probably best using it for dio parts with any you can then use in a build being a bonus. a good way to fill up your parts box too -
