yeah, i grabbed a couple of revell mk2 golfs off the shelf. one is the usa tuner kit and the other is the zender version. I'm using some of my 3d printed engine bays and engines in them too. one will be more extreme than the other but both will be pretty subtle too

I've had tape do that because it was on too long. I usually remove the tape as soon as its safe to pick up the parts. I think its caused by the thinners in the paints softening sort of wicking through the glue in the tape and lifting the colour. To fix it i'd just mask off the white and shoot a light coat of the black again if the surface is good, but maybe play it safe and give a 1500 to check cos our hands aren't always that good a tell and black is pretty unforgiving. If it didn't work then i'd think about stripping it. Just take the tape of after 5-10 mins ifs its safe to do so and i think you'll be good

you would need to get a load of people to measure their kits for it to work but it would be useful. it would need a lot of measurements taken and would probably be best done from built upss rather than fresh kits. the interiors and engine bay length would be helpful too as some cars have a much longer hood than others so maybe the length from the back of the wheel arch to the firewall would help there. the same for the back axle to rear of the chassis. chassis width is probably more important than the chssis length as I'm sure most of us are reasonably proficient with a saw before needing to use such a database but it would sure make things easier if you're swapping a modern chassis under an older car and dont have a big stash like some of us. it would probably need to be in metric and imperial measurements too. I'd be happy to add measurements

I've got prints that are 3 or 4 years old. cant say i've seen any cracking apart from when i am too rough wth them using the dremel or too big of teeth on a saw. The thinner ones seem to warp but most have been ok

What is the thing that makes you choose your next builds? Have you decided before you finish your current build what you are going for next? Do you stand in front of your stashes doing goldfish impressions until something jumps out? Do you go through kit after kit until something bites? or is it something else? I know I'm struggling to choose something for a quick build just now cos I'm going out to my mums for a few days (she had her hip replaced 6 weeks ago and still needs help carrying food, hoovering and doing the laundry)and nothing thats on the bench is really at a point i can move them too much (those miniart tractors are delicate and have way too many tiny parts) I'm probably going to choose a vw or hotrod of some sort but even that doesn't really narrow down my options. Do i go for a kit or something i've printed or aftermarket resin? I've got starting ideas for everything i have which isn't helping me to choose something. I'm tempted to add the amt 50 ford carson top to a monogram lincoln but at the same time i'm tempted to put a tamiya bug under one of the renault dauphines i recently traded for (I want to build all the feature cars from one issue of hatburner vw mag) but i also want to mix a mk1 golf cab with a scirocco to have a nicely detailed 1/24 scirocco or..... I just cant choose right now and i'm just wondering how you guys choose something

If you're looking for part numbered A2 its those little knobs on the sprue. I think they are nuts and bolts as they are used fairly often and it isn't clear from the instructions where they are.

It could be worth looking on some of the old uk ford forums too. Theres a lot of information on them and the owners are usually happy to share pics and info. I find the old ford owners tend be a more helpful lot than others in the uk but that probably more down to wider wage range than other car groups tend to have. If you pull up next an old jag there a 90% chance the owner is wealthy but if a mk1 escort pulls up next you the owner could be a millionaire or work in a supermarket.

one of my friends had a fiesta with the previous 3 cylinder engine (valencia i think it was called). That engine was a miricle of engineering. My mate was the type that never did any mainenance and would send it out to me for mot prep. More than once it arrived with a dry rad and next to no oil but it just did not die. The car eventually got scrapped cos he would put his surf board on the front seat so the floor rotted away. I have no idea why or how that engine lasted so long

base coat just means the colour needs a clear to shine, its sometimes called 2 part on this side of the pond

did you key the primer before the colour coats went on? i've had this happen when i skipped that step on filler primers. its like the colour coat shrinks as it dries as it has nothing to hold onto.

me and my uncle pulled one out of a midden where it had sat for 30 years with just the top of the rear wheels showing where it was. After a long jet wash, som new fluids and a fresh battery and it started right up. Still smelled really bad and most of the panels were toast but it wasn't needing a rebuild like the 135s would in the same state
