There is another option, the french army used flatheads well into the 80s that have better cooling among other upgrades. I think they only stopped casting them in the mid 80s and a lot of the drag race flatheads in europe use those blocks. There was a load of them, still new in the crate available towards the end of the 90s.

the plastic primer is useful. it helps the other primers stick to bare plastic (some older revell kits and black plastic kits) and it can be used if your paint is a hot one too if you dont want a thick layer of primer. Its not really a primer though, think of it as an adhesion promoter instead

even if someone did headlight decals on clear backing we'd have an option. with clear backing we could then use those decals on easily available googly eyes and an a5 sheet of these imaginary decals should last a fair while. they wouldn't be perfect but unless you want to spend money on photo etched ones it might work for most of us. -

Does anyone make a 1992-1996 Ford 4.9 I6?
stitchdup replied to Smoke Wagon's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
is it also called a 300 i6? if it is theres a 3d print file available along with one for an aussie ford i6 -
very cool, nobody could tell that you started with a mazda

it looks a little too sharp on the edges and kinda deep towards the back of the hood. Between the lights looks a little bit flat as well but neither detail is enough to stop me getting a couple
-
the centre of the hood looks wrong but i'll still get a couple

I've used the yellow tins, but not the red tins (uk trade use version). Seemed to work fairly well but it was a bit thick compared to other primers. I still use it sometimes if i have nothing else or need to cover a large area like truck side or something with less detail. Its not a bad primer but imo there are better options if you want to save detail

That was a fantasticread and scroll. Well done to all the contributors and I look forward to reading the book when its available. What really sold the story to me is ford uk sold a car that has a lot of the styling cues from these models called the consul capri (not to be confused with just capri) so it just made it all that much more believable

thats a mexican bug, there were never many of them over here and thats an earlier one than the commercial importers would have so i assume its a private import. Its interesting to see the differences between them and the ones we got -
Auto metallics, grain size.

this is the tamiya pearl clear over duplicolour flat black, not a great pic but its the best i have that shows the pearl. I would describe it as more of a metallic clear though as the pearl only really works on light colours. There is a good paint supplier called jawell paints in the uk. They carry loads of automotive paints and can put any colour you want into a spray can. Shipping shouldn't be too bad either since your on the mainland
