Good choice. I like those.?

Those paint jobs all look great! Should make for a fun winter of building. I paint outside too, and have been in a mad rush to get a couple shot and ready to go. But the weather has turned quickly here. Kinda looking like I'm done for the season. Time to start building!

Cool diorama. And that hearse is just awesome.?

has anyone ever tried decals from this seller? Are they any good? https://www.ebay.com/itm/123598535625?_trksid=p1.c101732.m5053&_trkparms=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2F123598535625%3F_trkparms%3Damclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20230719113457%26meid%3D9b6a318f6df141ba89360b0144bbcbeb%26pid%3D101732%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D4%26b%3D1%26sd%3D305210609522%26itm%3D123598535625%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D1%26algv%3DDefaultOrganicWebWithV11WebTrimmedV3VisualRankerWithKnnV3AndUltBRecall%26brand%3DUnbranded&_trksid=p1.c101732.m5053&mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e11021.m5053.l9430&mkcid=7&ch=osgood&euid=7566c14e52824cdfa1569d1a9337ec98&bu=43158602588&ut=RU&osub=-1~1&crd=20231018014632&segname=11021 -
Box Art Favorites
atomicholiday replied to Zippi's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Great subject, but there are just WAY too many for me to choose from. I am very partial to the old white box Monogram boxes. To me, it really makes the cars “pop”. This one, by the way, was the first kit I built. really like the Polar Lights Tommy Grove funny car box art too. I could go on and on and on and on… -
Pretty hard to beat a black Impala. I'm looking forward to thin build.

That looks terrific. Really nice clean build. Like your backdrop too.?

Kevin this project is looking great so far. Keep it up buddy! -
Hey guys, I’m looking for any tips you have when using craft acrylic paints for brush painting details. Whether using it as a wash or just painting small parts/details. I’m just starting to use this stuff and so far I’m not impressed, but I see others getting some results. I’m assuming there must be a bit of a learning curve? Here’s one example I could use some help on. I just did the grill on this Porsche. While it looks ok from straight on, it looks a little jagged when viewed from an angle. I thinned it with distilled water, filled the area, let it start to set up for a minute or two, and then used a moist cotton swab and paper towel to clean the excess. Is that correct? How can I get rid of that jagged look? This is just one example, but I’ll take any advice you have for using craft acrylic paints for details.

Ollie's strike again
atomicholiday replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
We hit the Ollie’s in Kokomo IN yesterday. I didn’t bother with a pic because models were scattered in about 3-4 places. Nothing special there, but they did still have a case of the Rupp dragster snowmobile. I picked one up to add to the stash. Never had one before. -

atomicholiday replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Picked this up yesterday. It’s from a Czech company called Platikovy Model. I’ve never heard of them before, but the kit looks ok. Definitely not Tamiya, but not horrible. -
I agree. I usually use kit wheels but they wouldn't be my first choice many times. I've been considering trying out some aftermarket rims though. At least on "special" projects. Seems like every other kit I've looked at recently has Centerline rims. I've never liked them, so they get used only as a last resort.

Yeah, that’s really nice. Great job.?

Now THAT is cool. ?

Never would have put those two cars together, but it absolutely works. Very creative. I really like where you’re going with this.?
-
Looking good! I really like what you’ve done with the interior parts. ?

Great color. Are you going with or without fenders? I have one of these in the stash too. I'm hoping to recreate a hot rod my dad built in the late sixties, but my skill set is nowhere near ready yet. Anyway, cool project. I'll tag along.
