I have the kit of the Gee Bee R in the boxing below. The kit actually scales out to real close to 1/25, not 1/32 as stated on the box. -
Thanks everyone. I appreciate all the kind comments. It makes going to the trouble of posting up all the pictures worth it. All of you have also been doing some fantastic builds over the last year so kudos to all of you and all the great building that's been inspiring all of us over the past year. ???

Hi Claud, No, it's a '69 Pontiac color from Scale Finishes I had on hand that's pretty close to the '72 pickup factory color.

Revell 1966 Pontiac GTO - Final Build of 2021

Turned out beautiful Gerry. -
I'm waiting on Scott too. He tells me he won't have any more until the border opens up without test, etc. He used to go across the border to pick up shipments from various suppliers every Monday but that's out of the question for now.

Almost to the hour. Pretty good but if you want real time weather check this link. Worldwide network of weather hobbyists home stations linked up on the net plus radar, etc. Looks like there's around a dozen home stations just in Winnipeg. You'll have to set it for your area but it's up to the minute. https://www.wunderground.com/wundermap

Questions about the Lunar Lander kit
Can-Con replied to Oldcarfan27's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Here's a link to pics of an actual LM in The Smithsonian Museum. They should be pretty accurate. Almost the same as the link Steve posted above but might have some other pics in there. https://airandspace.si.edu/collection-objects/lunar-module-2-apollo/nasm_A19711598000 -
Some pretty cool and very creative builds there Tim. ?

'72 Chevy stepside. '71 Impala Chopped '32 3-window '65 Impala custom '64 Thunderbird and just for a bit of variety,, the "Starship One" Boeing 720 as used by Elton John in late '74

Just shows you don't need a super complicated, detailed kit to create a stunning model. Super job.

That's the standard roof. It was available on the '66 cars but AMT chose to do the upmarket Landau version. It should be very easy to cut the sides of the separate '66 kit roof and add a strip for the drip rail to make this roof.

Finished this up last night.AMT annual '64 rebuild. Trim and door handles shaved, modified '66 tail light and back bumper with the center section of the light lens replaced with a section from a second lens.HOK Tangerine pearl paint with light beige interior.Kit engine block with heads, intake and carbs from the custom Thunderbird engine in the AMT '34 Ford pickup. Underhood sheet metal and various engine bay details from the newer AMT '62 Thunderbird roadster kit.Wheels are the K/H "Strippers" from the AMT '63 Corvette kit.

That's stunning !! ???

Looks fantastic Ludwig. You did a great job on all the little details. Your 1/1 is beautiful too. My uncle Walter had a restored, Corinthian White '62 convertible, lovely car.

That's one slick unit Luke ???

Actually, all the JoHan Toros and Eldos had the same engine, but it's the Olds engine, not the Caddy. The Eldorado kits just had CADILLAC script added to the Olds valve covers. Caddy engines have the distributor on the front and Olds has them on the back, like in the kit. Sand the scripts off the valve covers and you're good to go. They even have the "sunken" intake manifolds Olds used on the Toros to clear the low hood. That said, MPC is reissueing the "Californian" show car later in the year which is based on a Toro and all the chassis, engine and underhood parts should drop right in and be correct.

I miss them too. I should have got a few sets of headlights from them when I had the chance. For this set, I made a simple silicone caulk mold and cast a couple sets myself and had them plated but the Modelhaus ones would probably have been better. I did save them Paul but that was over 10 years ago and we had a couple floods since then. I lost one of them after one of the floods. Too bad as I really liked the look of them too and probably could have found something to use them on. Thanks Carl.

A little Christmas Eve update,, Interior is finished and installed. Just simple paint detailing and a bit of flocking. Engine's also done. I did a bit more detail painting on it after these pics were taken. and the body all ready for final assembly.

Never worry about asking too many questions, that's how you find stuff out. The only difference I can see between the '67 and '68 cabs is the '68s have the side marker lights and the '67 doesn't. But the latest reissue of the '72 Jimmy has a couple sets of marker lights on the decal sheet. I used a chassis from one of the newer '72s under my '68 with no problems. Basically the same parts except for the details. I made a more correct tail gate for mine by splicing in the lettering section from a revell mid '60s kit. The back of those trucks is pretty awful out of the box.
-
Yes, that's what I'm saying. The vendor I mentioned has a regular '67/'68 grille as well as one designed to work with the '72 cabs with the gap around the grille cast on the grille. Honestly, I'd try to find an annual '68 cab but this would be a cheaper way to go.
-
Here's a couple pics of the '67/'68 front for reference,,
-
No, the opening for the '67/'68 grille is smaller. as I posted above hoppers did sell one modified to fit. They also sell a set of fender emblems for these trucks that includes the '68 emblems.
-
Rich, the seller "hoppersbazaar" on e-bay sold a resin grille that was modified to fit in the '69='72 pickup grille opening. I don't see any listed with them right now but it might be something to look into. A '72 hood could be modified to look like a '68 with some sanding. That's what I did for mine but I think the front of the ;68 hood is actually lower too so a pie wedge cut from the front to back would be in order.
