It's JoHan ,, or AMT. The MPC kits had separate front cornering lights with holes for them in the front fenders and the inner fenders/firewall/rad wall were all one peice.

That's actually how I'll be building my '60 Plymouth wagon. Candy rootbeer brown and cream top. But you really got to knock off with the "clown car wheels" statement, it is insulting.

Not really. It's a touch too wide. BUT, about 15 years ago I did cast the grille from an AMT '70 Blazer a buddy of mine had. I got one good piece from my castings but ,, too big. Guess what? Smooth-on resin shrinks slightly over time. That grille has now shrunk enough that I can fudge the fit by sanding the sides and I'll now be able to make it fit.

I fall into the 4th Tom. I don't worry too much about scale and don't measure or do the math because there's no point. Even if something I'm working on measures out correctly, some other part of it won't. If something looks "right", then it looks right. No amount of measuring will change that. I'd rather build something that looks right than worry about fractions of inches and never get anything finished. Not for everyone, I know and that's all right. It's how I do it. Other people do things differently and that's all right too.

Really like'n the color Dale. If you had the decals, you could replicate the "Convoy Van" version. It's body was molded in that same color plastic.

Just a couple update shots of the engine.

Did a bit on this last weekend . Decided to use this MPC cab and interior instead of the newer AMT cab shown above. It is a bit rough compared to the unused cab but the grille and front bumper I want to use belongs to this cab. Did a bit of body work. Also rounded up most of the parts I'll need for this build. Unfortunately, the only MPC hood I have has a large hole in the center. I'll have to fill it. Either with some sheet plastic or a large blower. ? Opened up the grille from an AMT Blazer and removed it from it's surround. I'll grind out the existing grille from the MPC part and swap this one in. It looks better to me but I may swap the bow-ties as the MPC one looks better proportioned. Here's my widened fenders. Doing the math, the assembled box would be 5 scale inches narrow as came in the kit. I added about 2.5 scale inches to each fender. Looks better to me and now the math works out.

I've never seen this version of the Revell pickups built before but I am old enough to remember Billy and his brother Jimmy. BTW, the dealie with the rear fenders is they are not GM design. The box is an aftermarket design Revell used on a bunch of pickups with just a different smaller bed part for the mini-trucks but using the same fenders. IIRC, the company was "California Stepside" .

Here in Canada, it's a lot simpler. 1 inch in 1/25 = 1 millimeter. ? I can actually do the conversion in my head. ?

I's say this is the closest but could be a couple others when you take wear and weathering into account. I believe the word you're looking for is "Stetson" They come in many styles including the ones shown in your pics. Even the hats worn by the RCMP are made by Stetson.

This is the engine, firewall and rad wall from the Monogram 1/24 '69 GTO swapped into a 1/25 MPC '69 GTO body. And this is the dash from the Monogram 1/24 '69 GTO in an AMT 1/25 '69 Chevelle interior bucket being used to make a '69 Beaumont. The 1/24 dash is actually a touch loose in the 1/25 bucket. So, take from this what you will. ?

I know what you mean Snake but I do like my round headlights to be actually round. ? Yes, with a bit of sanding they should fit right on. I've been swapping AMT and MPC parts back and forth doing mockups with these kits for a while now. BTW, IF you're going to use the grille/bumper that comes with the kit I strongly suggest separating them. It doesn't fit well at all as one peice. I did that with this one and drilled out the headlights, built back when the modified kit came out over 20 years ago.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned anything about him and Alex being model car builders when they were young. I remember Kasey Kasem mentioning on one of the AT40 countdown shows from the mid '80s how they used to build and liked the box, with a few parts left in it to use as drums. I think one or both are [were] still building. About 15-18 years ago I had a conversation with someone late one night on the SA forum not long after it started that I strongly suspect was one of the VanHalen bros.
