D-100 Reissued -- C-10 Next ?
Can-Con replied to 1972coronet's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
But that's backwards. The "Fall Guy" truck was issued in '82 and the "Hardcastle" truck in '84. You can clearly see the copyright dates on the bottom of the box sides below. These were also the only GMCs, all the annuals were Chevy stepsides. The last reissues were basically the Fall Guy truck with the Hardcastle grille. SO, the stepside box was the last issue before the blue reissues. It should still be around and usable. I wouldn't be surprised to see a stock 2wheel drive stepside '83/'84 reissued sometime but I doubt we'll see them backdate the tooling to an earlier truck. just too many parts involved. -
Those hunting jeeps are nothing new. I think Ron's got the right idea, big game hunting in Africa.

I'm pretty sure this one can be built stock although it does have some common '70s style 4X4 add-ons like the roll bar, brush guard and off road lights. Even the stripes shown in the pic are a factory option. You may be thinking of the Revell kit with the strait axle front end, that couldn't be built stock.

Looks great David.

Keith Marks Decals
Can-Con replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I just put "Mustang decals" or "Dodge decals" or whatever in the header. That way he knows it's about decals. -
Looks sharp. You really nailed the colors. Too bad Monogram took the shortcuts with the kit and didn't put the correct engine and transmission in it.

What is living?

I remember my uncle George having a Simca for a short time when I was very small ,, pre-school age. He had a thing for weird European cars. He also had a Rover a DKW and of corse, a few VWs. But his Simca looked like this one,, -
,,,,Anyway, here's a couple more pics of my Chrysler.

Yea, don't know if I should be flattered or insulted.

OK, this has me thinking. Wouldn't a Carson top be basically a "fake convertible top" since it doesn't actually fold down? Then there were a couple examples of then as factory options. A local doctor had a Caddy just like this one back when they were new, But I think it works best on this Lincoln without a pillar between the side windows.
-
Yes, but, seeing as the top doesn't go down, you have to fake it.
-
In the industry, those are called sim-cons , as in "simulated convertible" top. Note the addition of the fake roof ribs.

Are these both AMT Rigs? Help!
Can-Con replied to Plashdaddy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yup, all AMT stuff. -
My car has a few vents on it and most people probably think they're just for looks. They are actually all functional and let heat out of the engine bay. The '82 I had didn't have any vents and was prone to overheating after the engine transplant, this one runs much cooler.

Canadian location for photoetched parts

Try with Scott at Elm City Hobbies, he's here in Fredericton N.B. He does a lot of mail order business all over Canada and other countrys. https://www.elmcityhobbies.com/shop/index.php?main_page=mylink&zenid=085e0930f63cee319864be161e682cfb -
Phil, did you get your Nocturn blue from Scott at Elm City? You got to be careful with that color as there are at least 2 formulas for it and only one is correct. Scott knows about this as I had returned a bottle from Scale Finishes which was the incorrect greyish shade. Unfortunately, I lost my unused bottle in the flood last year. Gotta get a new one sometime.

You just need to press the foil onto a lens with the pattern on the outside, shiny side to lens. Fill mold level or a bit more if you want it convex on both sides. No need to remove new lens from foil at all, you can use it like that, the foil mold IS the reflector. The foil will stay stuck until you take it off. OR you can take the foil off and use the lens as any other normal clear lens. Just trim to size. I use small files. IF you want to keep the foil on, file the lens from the foil side toward the resin side, that way the foil doesn't pull off.
-
I cast my own. I made the forms by pressing aluminum foil onto parts box lenses hard enough to pick up the impressions of the prisms and filled them with clear resin. If you put the shiny side toward the lens, it forms it's own reflector. Then you just trim them to size.

Revell '29 hotrod pickup.
Can-Con replied to Can-Con's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Made new motor mounts to install the 5.0 from a newer Revell '32 kit. I was waffling back and forth between using the '29 kit chassis or the '32 chassis and went with the '29. Harder to install a V8 but the '32 would have needed wheelbase adjustment. , , plus the '29 already has poseable steering. I drilled out the centers of the '32 kit's wheels and added the hubcaps from an AMT '32 Pheaton kit. Seems like a slight improvement on these wheels. Next time I may replace the spokes in the front halves of the wheels too. I've also done up a modified firewall to clear the V8. -
Still plugging along on it. I also glued the engine in the chassis. Everything seems to be fitting pretty good. I still have to finish up the radiator wall and shroud I'm making from scratch and then I can add the final details to the engine bay and finish it up.

Ya know, You may be joking but working latches for those skirts would be super easy to make.

Yea, that's a great combination. Wheels, color and stance work about perfect on that car.
