I feel bad about posting now. I used the stuff for a few years and never had a problem painting over it when I had to. Maybe the stuff they sell here is different then the stuff they sell in the States. Oh well, I guess I really should have learned by now not to reply to any paint related threads.

If this is the product you mean,, Then it shouldn't be a problem removing it because there shouldn't be anything to remove. "Polishs" work by using super fine abrasive to remove texture in the paint, making it shinier. There shouldn't be anything in that to stop the paint from sticking properly unless you waxed it also. "POLISH" is NOT a coating like wax is and after it's wiped off there shouldn't be anything on the surface but paint. BUT, all you need to do is go over the body with some fine sandpaper, 800 or 1000 grit, to give the new paint some extra "bite" just to make sure . Personally, I'd strip it first too though.

Yellow is definitely a pain to get to cover and even worse if it's pearl. I always use a similar color as a base when I use pearl. I mixed up a pastel yellow acrylic as a base under the pearl nail polish I put on this Vette. It came out OK but I wish I had mixed the base about 1/2 as dark, I think the pearl would have popped more over a lighter base.

Picked up a couple items at the annual model club flea market in Moncton NB last weekend. I have built copies of both of these but I've been wanting to do a classic or two from virgin kits. I also picked up this '63 T-bird. Looks like the body wasn't painted aside from the roof, which was scraped off from the looks of it. All the parts for a stock build are there and the chrome is in pretty good shape. I'm thinking some cool candy paint and a set of wires with white pinstripe tires.

Casey, the '66 kit suspension compares well with these pics I found of a stock '63. The floor pans look a little bit different and of coarse the gas tank area is completely different. It should be a pretty easy job to swap out the tank area. Might be able to fudge the rear suspension placement enough to make up for the 2 scale inch difference. I have all the kits mentioned and have checked the wheels. I agree with Steve that they are from the AMT Challenger. They are the only ones I've found with the 5 holes closed over. Every other kit I've checked with Magnum 500 wheels has open holes.

I'd join too but I have to bring my model room back from the dead first. Haven't been able to work on anything since the flood back in April/May. Taking the opportunity to switch rooms to one I've been slowly building up specifically to work on models in. I hope to be able to work on models again soon.

Looks great. I think you put more effort into the lights on this car than most people put into the whole model.
