Restomod '57 Chevy Cameo
Can-Con replied to Can-Con's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Took a couple days, about 6 hours in total to get the exhaust done up. Not happy with how low it hangs but to correct it I'd have to pull the engine and section some height out of the headers. I thought I had it figured out pretty well but when I but the cab on the frame, the engine and tranny held it up some in spite of me enlarging the transmission hump. I didn't make it large enough and didn't want to redo the interior floor so I ground some off the crossmember so the tranny sat a bit lower, which in turn made the headers lower. I also had to make a pair of mufflers as I couldn't find a matching pair in my stash. .But it's done now and the pipes are all painted. -
Waiting for parts to dry on the pickup today so I finished up the foil on this one. Also, found my stash of red line tires yesterday so it's moving along a bit.

Can you post a pic of the front Les? From the pics, It looks like a '67/'68 to me but not a really good pic to see for sure. -
My first model in 45 years! Whaaa?

The alcohol isn't much good for enamel. I've always used Easy Off with no problems. I don't think I'd use the Testors thinner or mineral spirits for stripping, might melt the plastic. -

Pretty cool. I like the mods you've done. -
Watched "The Creator" on Star last week. Kinda slow for a si-fi movie. I was expecting a fast paced action movie but that's not what it is. It had more of an Apocalypse now vibe but with AI and robots. Pretty good really. The acting and affects were good and it was an interesting story if you don't mind a slower pace. I'd recommend it if your looking for a more cerebral si-fi movie.

Jeff, have you compared the '65 engine to that one? From the ones I've seen the earlier kit engines look a bit smaller then the '65 up but don't have one for comparison. Also, I've been told the '63/'64 kit front bumper/park light parts are not quite the same as the '65 so it doesn't fit, but then again, I don't have one to compare. BUT, can't wait to see what you do with it as I'm a Riviera fan and have owned a couple in the past. [can't afford one now, they're too popular]

Made some filler pieces and step foot wells to help hide the most glaring omission to these kits, the huge gap between the interior bucket and cab body. Hope to have it finished up in a sew more days. -
Any new info on the Moebius '67/'68 Chevy pickups?
Can-Con replied to Can-Con's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Probably right Mike. I can wait though I think I have some other kits to keep me occupied until then. ? -

How do I spray these details?
Can-Con replied to Milo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Badger 350 here too. Simple , low parts count and easy to use and clean. A lot easier to use when your just learning then a dual action brush It's pretty well the only airbrush I use. You can usually get a set like shown for under 50 bucks. You can get a knock-off copy set like that for about 20 bucks. -
What non-auto model did you get today?
Can-Con replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
They are interesting. I'm kinda into the retro-futurism vibe of the series and '50s/early '60s si-fi in general. -

Can-Con replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
It's from a series Revell did in the late '50s designed by Krafft Ehricke, who worked in the nazi missile program during WWII and then brought to the U.S. after the war. , , An actual "rocket scientist". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krafft_Arnold_Ehricke -
They went to blue in '75, Monty. All my Buicks had red engines too. , , BTW, I took my licence road test in a '74 LeSabre with a 455 transplant. ?

How do I spray these details?
Can-Con replied to Milo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Your OK Milo. That stuff does that to me too. You just need to spray on a couple light mist coats and then a wetter coat. In spite of what some say, no paint covers in one coat unless it's over the exact same color. Just mist on another coat or two of your primer and spray your color coats, again, a couple mist coats first, letting them dry for a while between coats and then do your wet coats. -

For those of you who are getting impatient to receive their Demon, I believe there's certain "ancient rituals" you can preform that may conjure them up in a more timely fashion. ??? -
Painting with the hood on or off?
Can-Con replied to av405's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I tape mine on from underneath in a way that the hood sits a couple mm off the body so the hood matches the tops of the fenders and edges of the hood and fenders gets some paint Then after the paint is good and dry, I go back and tape off the engine bay and spray it and the under side of the hood. Usually, you can't see the difference. , , , and this one is candy paint. -
AMT 1955 Chevrolet Cameo

Lowering the front. BUT, you only have to worry about that if you have an early '55 kit like Pats. All the newer kits have the corrected cab. -

Can-Con replied to 66c10's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Guys, there's no "i think it's" or "it's probably" going on with that car, it's George's [GMP440] actual car he owns and he said it is TT-1 " The 68 Coronet that I own , which is pictured, is TT-1, medium green metallic." -
