Just doesn’t want to fit
Roadrunner replied to ratherbefishin's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have the same problem with a couple of full fendered cars that I've worked on, but haven't worked out a solution yet, but I certainly will when I resume work on them. -
I just use flat black enamel, then wipe off excess with a thinner dampened old T-shirt; works just great for me.
-
Yep, I noticed that too. That's a whole lotta car models.

Works for me. I'll look forward to seeing the end result.

That's yet another item I've never seriously considered doing (despite having thought about it), adding interior trim to the glass, or adding a headliner for that matter. I usually do try to deal with the inevitable ejector pin marks underneath the roof though.

1970 Sox & Martin 'Cuda Pro Stock
Roadrunner replied to Guy Beaudette's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I like the way the slicks are flattened somewhat. -
I'm undergoing a bit of an evolution myself, I suppose. I started the first four or five cars (after I joined here five years ago) by painting and polishing the bodies, then losing interest when it came time to do the chassis, interiors and stuff. From now on, I intend to do all that boring, but necessary stuff first, then (and only then), paint and polish up the body. I'm also slowly working my way toward the eventuality of wiring/plumbing some exposed engines, but I'm in no real rush for that. Quantity is certainly not my goal, but rather quality, or at least the best quality that I'm currently capable of. My '70 Challenger T/A is a perfect example. Very little actually needs to be done to finish it, but I lost interest when it came time to setup the chassis and finish off the interior. I really need to finish it, as it's one of my all-time favorite cars.

Operating convertible top in 1:25

Mine too. I wouldn't even consider it, actually. -
Agreed. If it aint broke, don't fix it, and your grille looks great to me.

Blue is a great color, my favorite in fact, and Zero makes a ton of great blues. I'll be using Chrysler Mango on mine though.

I fully agree that any modeling approach is perfectly acceptable, regardless of my own specific choices/desires. It's painfully obvious to me that car modeling, as a whole, encompasses dozens of different ideas as to what's cool and how much work is desired or required. I actually dwell on very little here, but see the work that Steve does as exceptional, and it's pure pleasure for me to watch his progress, despite my having no current passion to do the same.

I'm working on the very same kit right now. I'll look forward to seeing where you take it. And Icy Blue is a great color, as far as I'm concerned. I painted a '70 Challenger T/A that same color and just love it.

I like the engine from this, too bad I just traded off my kit.

Losing model parts

Harry Houdini at work? -
I understand your position and respect it, Steve, but I'm the sort that just wants to blow through a project without undue work, so as to ultimately have something nice looking sitting on the shelf, models that no one (including myself), will ever really pay any serious attention to anyway, once finished. For the time being at least, I'll just enjoy the painstaking efforts yourself and a few others here do, while I continue to crash through my curbsides, as is my natural tendency.

Better you than me, brother.

Good to know. Thanks. I did notice that the holes at the rear of the interior are not symmetrical with the tabs they pass through, but haven't checked yet to see if they cause any interference issues.

Jo-Han Maverick-Dyno Don's Ride

Indeed it is. I'm very much looking forward to the finished result. -
Not really my thing, but it does look excellent.

It's a real shame to hide that interior inside the body. Too bad this isn't a convertible, as the interior looks just excellent.

Interesting project.

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
Roadrunner replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Now this is something I really need to join, as I have four or five currently stalled projects. -
The first of the new arm rests is now installed. I realize it's far from perfect, but still looks better than what the kit provides, or at least I think so. Over the years, many of my smaller punches have disappeared, so I may or may not be able to make new window cranks the way I was wanting to.
