I have done the conversion from promo to kit without many issues. Only real issue I ran into was the body of the promo is thicker usually and I had some fitment issues. extra trimming, sanding, fitting. Well, long story short, now I just try to be sure my finish and detail is better than some other builds so they stand out a bit and leave them as promo style.

MrObsessive............... that is stunning!

All I know is that if it was converted from a diecast, I do not want it. Therefore I vote for the AMT. I have a few and they are nice. As for BMF for the trim, when done looks better than the added trim on the diecast converted kits. Now the old Revell kits that the trim was thin and glued on the body (namely 55 and 56 Chevies) I believed looked good. Tough to install but done right it looked correct. So glad I read this board because it has informed me enough to avoid certain kits and helped be to better some kits.

I purchased 2 when Lindberg first released them and they were molded in the main color and no painted trim. The ones I just purchased are molded in the main color, secondary color painted and entire body is nicely polished. The door handles and side trim are also painted. Unsure about the decals though because I did not use them on the original ones I purchased. Maybe these are later releases, unsure, but they are a lot nicer than my originals.

Well, I picked up a few of the Lindberg Snap police cars at Ollies and I must say, Not sure if these are reissues from Round2 or not. I have 2 originals from Lindberg when they first came out and these are much nicer. The original was molded in color and that was it. The R2 versions have prepainted bodies, and the trim is prepainted also. Unlike the originals, the tail lights are multi color and not just red. Decals, not stickers, very detailed one piece chassis. The chassis and interior could use some paint and detailing but these will build up very nice right out of the box

Actually the cracked coolant passage was on the plastic intakes. The 94 and older had aluminum intakes and did not suffer from this problem. These engines are tight, built to last. The only way to kill one as a driver is to run it out of oil. Dad had a Cougar with close to 300,000 and ran like a dream. Body fell off before it quit. Wish I had pulled the engine before we scrapped it. The distributor actually comes out of the valve cover. The pic you posted has a crank trigger distributor. Nice, but I am going with a standard electronic using parts store stuff. I want it driveable and serviceable. I would love to locate a reverse rotation marine duraspark distributor. -

I am using a 95 split port engine with a fabbed tunnel ram style intake. Yup, 16 tubes. Not running the butterfly plates, but depending on performance, I may build a second intake that incorporates them. Using the stock 95 valve covers with plug wire covers made to incorporate the "Ford V8" decals from a Y Block. Trans will be a toploader 4 speed, using a 302 bellhousing with relocated stater boss. Yes, the 302 bell bolts on the mod. The 302 locating pins are solid, the mod has sleeve pins with bolts thru them. Same location, same OD pins. Easy cheesy Next project is a Mod engine 58 Edsel using an early 92 Romeo iron block and C heads. The early 92 blocks take a 302 bellhousing, no changes. All 4v blocks are Romeo, so heads and front cover swap swap. -

I agree..... I am installing one in a 1954 Ford Glasstop. No electronics though. Homemade intake with removable carb plate to run 4 barrel, dual 4 barrels or tri-power. Distributor running off the intake cam. -
Does not sound to daunting. Most kits need some fiddling with, now I know what to look for though. Thanks

Anyone ever try to morph this with the Revell '60 Impala?

WOW... that car is identical to a car a friend in France bought, color, stripes, wheels and tires even. 390 Drag pack car. I flew to New York, drove it to Ohio and prepared it for shipping. Very cool and fast car

1967 Ford Custom sedan or coupe
Sledsel replied to jefropas's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I do not believe one ever existed unless in resin. Any full size 67 Ford would be wonderful though. -
Great job on the headers

Very nice. The satin paint looks cool. I like the white frame also. I just bought this, any problems with assembly?

AMT "Rides Magazine" 40 Ford info needed
Sledsel replied to Sledsel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I received the sealed kit today. Cannot get pics now but here is a quick run down. Your basic 40 sedan delivery kit. Front and rear fenders are filled as shown, around the headlights poorly though. I am going to hang onto them for a custom build with quad lights. No loss if it does not work out. Typical 40 Ford kit nailhead engine with supercharger or tri power (stock flattie included) Stock hubcaps and trim rings, also a set of plain center hubcaps. No stock wheels or tires Stock and custom dash and seats Super dropped front axle and standard drop chrome front axle Separate pipe and muffler for dual exhaust (stock single molded in) Stock and ribbed bumpers Stock headlights and lenses included Stock and billet style steering wheels Stock grill or solid filler Funky flex rear end Wheels and tires..... well, Spex summed that up The main body is stock with the exception of holes for the visor. Hood louvers in box art separate hole in hood for a "V" hood ornament (which is present) Rides typical 1 sided rotor and caliper set up (4 of them) and in Ertl fashion, the custom headlight buckets, rings and visor are missing from this sealed kit. To bad, I had a use for the headlights. So, if you have a set of fenders, and can buy this cheap, you can build a 40 SD -

Will do my best. Gotta get a new camera first. -
Looks better with the contrast. FYI, The vinyl should go all the way to the 1/4 window trim though. Yours looks similar to what a 72 or 73 has. Nice part is, with the tape, it can always be modified. When happy, add the trim. This will help with your shape on the bottom

Cool project and cool car. Parts of it remind me of a Falcon.
