Freightliner SD/DD question
Sledsel replied to Sledsel's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thank you everyone.... Lots of great info here. -
I usually build cars, but have decided to dabble in trucks for a little change. I am building the Freightliner SD/DD and have assembled the 2 pieces of the cab. I have it lined up pretty well, but will need some filler. How do I fix the rivets? Should I attempt or just live with it? I do have the seams pretty nice and thought of masking and doing a filler prime just on the seam Thought about not filling the seam line, may drive me crazy.

Looks great. Love the color

She has a rear sump for sure. I was just noting the front part of your pan is not deep enough for the pump. I know it is just a kit, but you are doing a great job on it and I am just passing some info. As for that geometry on the front, it does that because the shackles are in the rear. If they were in the front, the center line would swing backwards.

If you need an electric fan, try sourcing one from another kit. Revells 40 Willy's street rod has one as do a few other kits. Maybe someone else can weigh in..

This thing has really turned into something and am liking it. So much so I pulled my stalled kit out. Can I give a bit of advice/info? Turn the oil pan around or make the front deeper. The oil pump is in the front and the pan is too shallow in the front for the pump. Obviously, I am speaking about a 1:1 car, but to make it more accurate, it would need something. Just an FYI Attached is a stock type rear sump and a new style aftermarket pan

One of the better builds of this kit I have seen. I may be biased because I have a 1:1 the same colors One note if you (or someone else) builds another. The "FORD" letters on the front header are oversized. The actual letters are the same as the ones on the trunk.

Comparing the AMT and Revell 1940 Ford Coupes.
Sledsel replied to Lovefordgalaxie's topic in Model Cars
The Lindberg kit is decent, the only thing about it that bugs me is the rear quarter window because it is shaped wrong, but then again, so is the Revell. I give my vote to the 60 year old AMT 40. -
I like them all!!!! The Mercs look better as-is than that Revell "thing" Not to hijack, but will share a couple of mine with you. Like yours.... unfinished. Keep cutting!

They look good to me! -
That and the 64 Galaxie would be great too!

Very nice. Even with the boring chassis, I like these type of kits

1/25 AMT '94 Ford F-150 Lightning Pickup

I will be getting one to go with my F150's. It suffers the same issue as my kits from what I see in MercuryMan's pics... The drooping bed. Easily fixed though. -
