  1. Awesome build!! Just the right amount of weathering. It is so close to the original that I thought the first photo was of your model. Excellent work!!
  2. Glad to see this one back together. It looks great!!!
  3. Top notch work!! I like it!!
  4. Sorry to see you withdraw, But I hope to see more of this build.
  5. Me too. I use Photobucket because it's free. I tried Fotki when it was free and my preference was Photobucket. However, Photobucket tends to freeze up on my computer, Or my computer will say "Internet Explorer has stopped working", and I've even had my Norton say that it had blocked an attack on my computer while I was on Photobucket. I'm using Windows 7 with Internet Explorer. I still use Photobucket, but I'm curious if anyone else has had this problem or is it my computer? Maybe someone could shed some light on the subject? I'm the weird one, I don't like ice cream, but I do like grits.
  6. I have bought a lot off of Ebay, but truthfully I don't think some of that stuff is really for sale at the prices some are posted at. Some of those high priced items have been on there for months, and some re-appear from time to time. Catch phrases like; "Pro-Built", "Vintage", "Rare", "Hard to Find" and even "Look!!" are just hooks many are using to try and sell their product. I think some sellers don't know any better, but many are simply trying to make a sale. The funny thing to me is how many kits, especially resin stuff, will bid much higher than they can be bought direct. So there are many buyers who don't know any better either. With that said, if someone thinks that their re-released California Hauler frame is worth $29.99, then let them try to get that. However, most builders are familiar with going prices. The best thing to do is to do your homework, and look at the pictures closely and even ask the seller questions if need be. I have gotten some really good deals on Ebay, but it takes some fishing on the buying end as well.
  7. Thanks for all the comments guys!
  8. This thing is really looking great!!!
  9. Sorry to see you stop this build. Are you moving back east?
  10. Thanks guys! I had looked at Dave's 700 kit and considered cutting it down. If you notice the bottom kit. The molded ridge on the side of the hood is further away from the fender than the upper kit. This is correct for the newer Western style Mack that I am wanting to build. I'm not sure if the headlight buckets are right for the Valueliner, but that can be fixed easy enough. If anyone else has any info, I would be truly thankful! Brian
  11. I am wanting to build a West Coast R model Mack. I have seen several 700 series built like the "Rubber Duck" truck, but I want to build a 600 series. Something like a RS686LST Valueliner. The company that I used to work for had 2, and I know that there are a lot of differences between them and a regular R model. I am wanting to try to convert the AMT R model hood. It is pretty clear that the fenders mount lower on the hood on Western, not to mention the rear of the fender is chopped off, and the headlight buckets are slightly smaller, and of course the grill and Mack lettering are different. The problem is that I don't have any real specs. I could guess, but my craftsmanship is bad enough without throwing another monkey wrench into the mix. I've measured photos, but because of camera angles, I get varied results. This may turn into more than I want to tackle, but if anyone has any info, I would be very thankful. I've always liked these trucks and I hope to build one. Thanks...Brian
