I really like this one! I like the paint scheme! I like the headache rack. I used to see a lot like that one around here. The weathering looks good too! Nice job on the drop deck trailer as well. Nice work!! -

I have started with the lower part of the kit cylinder cut off and drilled out and used aluminum tubing for the stages with plastic tubing rings. Cutting the tubing with a tubing cutter shrinks the end slightly and if you’re careful it doesn’t pull apart when slid together. That is what is on this dump. -

Gary Wallace does and you can also get a Gary Wallace 4-71 from Jamie at Moluminum. I have one coming from Jamie myself. I have cut down a 6-71 to make one before I knew that they were available, but they too would be the best source for one of those, so it would be easier to just get a 4-71. With your skills, you could probably fab one up. You were the inspiration for me to fab up the 6v-53 that I’m working on. -

Thanks! What I do may not be the best way, but I paint everything flat black first. Then I use a thin wash of brown, usually Testors leather. I let the black bleed through in areas. It works pretty well on molded wood grain like the dashboard. -

I’ve figured out that this cab is the same cab as his F700 kit that looks to have had the 850 front fenders and a roof thrown on to it in what appears to be a hurry. Initially he said that he would send another cab, but wanted pictures of the problems. I haven’t heard anything since I sent a picture. He had said that maybe this was one of the last ones out of an old mold, but that is not what this is. This is a totally different casting all together. It is also Very brittle. I hope to make something of it though. -

He responded and wanted pictures. I sent a picture of the roof but haven’t heard back. I didn’t notice the fenders until today. The good news is that the hood is warped pretty badly too, but matches the fenders pretty decent.? -

On this cap the front fenders were not put on the cab straight. This resin is Extremely brittle. I’m not sure if I should attempt to fix this or not. -

I’ve got the engine together except for the manifolds and fan bracket. It is definitely not a perfect representation of a 6v-53, but I think that it is convincing enough. You can see a 6v-71 in the background for comparison. -

I get those calls too. Most interestingly though, we refinanced our house a couple of years ago. Since then, I have gotten calls and letters that my home warranty was about to expire with the same type catastrophic warnings as the car warranty pushers. My house was built in 1937. I didn’t realize that that warranty lasted that long. ?
