Round 2's Datsun 620 Pickup - Out of Box review
stavanzer replied to Faust's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Jonathan, If you still have those stock styrene tires, I would like them. Those skinny vinyl tires in the kit just look wrong to me. Like Faust, I actually prefer the plastic tires when I can get them. One of my Volare's rides on the ones that came in the re-issued kit. -

Round 2's Datsun 620 Pickup - Out of Box review
stavanzer replied to Faust's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Yeah, it is Revell's Generic small block V-8. Very much like the one in the Sneaky Pete and Billy Carter Chevy's. I had the kit and sold it. Chrome tree only includes one set of forks and handle bars for the bikes. Parts for two bikes in white plastic, Chrome parts for only one. It was weird. Put me off the kit, so badly, that I just gave up, and sold it. If Revell puts it out again, I hope somebody there counts the parts on the sprues this time........ I'll wind up with two of these, and one of the monster truck kits, just to make a flip nose street rod. -

Round 2's Datsun 620 Pickup - Out of Box review

My only gripe is that Round2 missed out putting in all four of the 2-piece plastic tires. You get only three in the kit. Other than that, the kit rocks. -
There was a photo in SAE a long, long time ago, of a Fireball 500 done as Robin's car next to a Batmobile. It was done in the Red,Yellow, and Green. I think it even had a big R on it.

Dang, but that possible 4x4 rim has some Long Hub on it. Not sure if I've seen a Ford P/Up with 7" of hub sticking out.
 -
Glad to hear they are making it to HL. I need another one.

Christian, I understand that. Over, though, a 'Mog is a big ticket, spendy machine. Parts and labor for it are both high cost items. Of course since it is a Merc, you know it will run well and be durable, but the initial investment in one, compared to a One Ton domestic truck, will be more. So, Upscale places are the best bet. I would guess that they will be more common in Canada than the US, too.

Thanks, Atmobil. That helps. Would this kit portray a 1966-67 Bug? Or is it something that never would have been seen in North America? These kits are at Hobby Lobby now. Thinking of taking the Plunge. So, Snake, how has the Chassis gone together? Any fit issues?

I like the 'Mog. Looks like something that an upscale Ski Resort would use. I might be tempted.....

Looking into the parts packs, I'm trying to re-create the "Fumin' Fiat" I need Chassis parts from the C1127 and C1132 parts packs. It's going to be a long, long search... But this thread has answered almost all of my questions about Parts Packs. I wish Jim Keeler would tell more of his story about them.

Woo-Hoo! Finally, the '40 Ford Sedan! Been waiting for this one for years! I am anxious to see how they do it up. And if it gets 6 tires or 8 tires.

Jeff, is this speculation, or do you have inside knowledge?

Revell 1/25 '70 Dodge Charger R/T Model Kit Review 85-4381
stavanzer replied to hpiguy's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Now to see a comparo with the '70 Fast & Furious Charger from Revell. I see many trees that are the same. Looks like the Tail Light panel, Exhaust Manifolds and a few other parts are different between the two kits. I'll be getting one of these to go with my F&F car. -
Thanks, Bill I'll check my extra tires.

Question: The Stock Slicks in the Slingster are too small. I have some AMT Pad Printed Slicks from the '65 Mustang Gasser/Street Freak kit. Can I use those or, are they too big? And I they are too big, does any AMT kit in current production have something that WILL work? TIA, Alan

You'd never know that you started with a Snapper. Great Job! The colours and detail bring it to life. -
And on another thread Dave from Moebius has stated that the middle stake pocket problem has already been noted, and should be corrected. I'm looking forward to having another Stepside Ford Kit in the future,
 -
Thank You, Dave. Now I know when and where to watch.
 -
Any word on when these will be shipping? This is a Moebius kit I can really sink my teeth into. I'll wind up building several of these.
 -
Thanks for the explanation, Dave. That helps.
