  1. My primary driver is a 2010 Ranger Sport, since this picture was made I have added a low-line bed cover painted to match. The second picture is my toy. Belonged to my Dad, now it is mine. Since this picture was taken I have added a camper shell. It is an 83 with 103K miles and a 2.8 V-6.
  2. Just checked my 65 Bonneville kit and it has a really nice set of 8 lugs. Guess I will need to try and cast a couple of sets.
  3. Just acquired a set of Pontiac 8-lug wheels from a Trumpeter Bonneville. Let me rephrase that, I acquired a set of very poorly reproduced 8-lug wheels, Trumpeter really screwed the pooch on these. They remind me of those "faux mag wheel" covers from the 60's, you know, the ones from J. C. Whitney for $12 a set. There is no depth to them and there is very minimal detail. Now for my real reason for this post, which resin-caster makes a quality Pontiac 8-lug wheel?
  4. Just completed a trade with classicgas. Very pleased, shipped quickly, kept me informed all the way.
  5. My only question is concerning the material the K members were made of. I know this has nothing to do with the models, but I believe magnesium would not have been used. Magnesium is quite brittle, if you have ever seen a real magnesium wheel that has hit a curb you will see what I mean. The use of stainless steel seems more appropriate for this particular application. That being said, I also think they may have been painted yellow by some builders in order to better see cracks forming during the rigors of racing. Just my $.02 for what it is worth.
  6. Would it make the build go faster? Sorry, I couldn't resist.
  7. I have seen this statement mentioned in several posts concerning stripping paint. It appears to me the Super-Clean would eventually be full of dissolved lacquer and other type paint particles, which would make it just as toxic as basic lacquer. I know the jug says it is biodegradable, but I believe that applies to the original composition of the Super-Clean. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
  8. You got my attention with this one. My favorite car of all time is the 65 Chevelle, built anyway - street, circle burner , or drag. This is some beautiful workmanship.
  9. Mighty fine looking Boss, looks like she is ready to rumble.
  10. Check out Radio Shack. I know they are basically out of business, but I have read they will be returning as a store within a store as part of Hobbytown. Anyway you can order direct from them https://www.radioshack.com/pages/search-results?findify_limit=24&findify_q=wrapping wire The problem is they do not offer the wire in black, only in red, white, and blue so you could build a patriotic engine is you wanted to.
  11. Got a '64 Polar Lights GTO from Casey. Will be using some of the parts to restore an original AMT '64 I got at a model show.
  12. I cannot afford to buy one anyway, so it doesn't really matter which way GM goes with it. That being said, from what can be seen it does look quite impressive.
  13. It is easy to see you have spent some time inside a Ford Econoline. That is some beautiful interior work.
  14. Not really my style , but still a very cool build. I really like the weld detail around the radiator cover.
  15. Thanks for the suggestions and offers. I think on the grille I am going to drill out all the headlights and try to replace them with clear lenses, I would then need to scratchbuild another bucket.
  16. I bought a plastic bagged AMT '64 GTO glue bomb at the CKM show last week. I believe I can probably bring it back to original condition, although it is going to require a bit of scratchbuilding, especially the hood (I really miss Modelhaus). I have tried the AMT '67 GTO chassis and it fits perfectly, so I can have a much better detailed chassis. The '67 Firewall will also fit with a bit of fine adjustment. The A pillars, headlight, and door handles will require some work, but is doable. My only concern is the rear quarter scripts, but I may have them on a scrap piece of PE I got in trade several years ago. Anyway here are some pictures, is it an original or a reissue?
  17. Outstanding weathering on this beautiful old fat-fender. Yes, I must agree the '40 Fords were some of the prettiest out of Dearborn, to me a strong second is the '63 Galaxie XL, and a third would be the '67/68 Mustang. The only thing I see missing is a crack in the front fender. My uncle owned a '40 Pickup and he had a bear of a time keeping the front fenders from cracking firght above the center of the wheel/tire.
  18. Beautiful Sunliner, that color looks really good on it. I have two of these on the bench right now, one is box stock and the other is a short track car without the front fenders.
  19. Beautiful truck and as already said that color looks just right. I don't think my lawnmower blades will cut as low as that front bumper.
  20. One of these shells sold at the CKM Show yesterday for $7.00. Unfortunately I was not quick enough and it was the guy at the next table to mine who had it. As soon as he unpacked it someone walked up and bought it.
  21. I attended the CKM Annual Show & Swap Meet yesterday. First the back story and then a picture. I have been going to the CKM show for the past several years, I won a trophy for best short track there in 2008. Anyway a couple of years ago a man and his 8 year old son came by my sales table. I asked the man if he was teaching his son to build models. He replied, Yes, but only snap kits so far. I had an AMT 55 Corvette snap-kit in my sales box so I gave it to the kid. I have given out cheap kits a couple of times to other kids. At yesterday's show a man and his kid came by the table looked through my stuff and left. A little while later they came back by and the man asked if I had been here a couple of years ago. When I replied I had, he reminded me of giving his boy that Corvette. The boy had built it and entered it in another show last year and won best Junior under 11 with it. He also had it at this show along with an Ecto Ghostbusters kit. The Corvette did not win but his Ecto got Best Junior under 11. Here is a picture of that Corvette.
  22. They announced next year will be August 31st, at least that is what I think I heard as I was going out the door with my stack of unsold models.
  23. The oldest stalled project I have is a '60 Ford Galaxie converted to a sedan delivery. Ordered the PE set for it and had some grandiose plans, but it has been in the box since '95. Have never made pictures of it. My next stalled project is a SCRambler gasser, started working on it in 2010.
  24. I'll be there. Will have some deals, just look for one of the old fat guys wearing a "Glory Days" drag racing t-shirt and a "USAF, MSGT Retired" baseball cap.
