  1. Got the look just right. Mighty fine "old" roadster.
  2. I'm not sure if it is Sonoma or Watkins Glen, but I seem to remember one of the road courses pit layout required the fuel filler to be moved to the passenger side of the car. Of course I could be totally wrong, I have been at least once before.
  3. Gorgeous coupe, that paint is over the top. Nice attention to detail.
  4. Simply an awesome build of an iconic racer. Everything you have done with this build is outstanding. I have always loved these older long-nosed.short-nosed Jaguars. Thanks for sharing your build.
  5. It will take me a week to stop drooling over that paint job. Beautiful build.
  6. Some of the "cheaper" acrylic craft paints have started making some metallic colors. I have not used them yet, but I do have some of their colors in my stash. Another option on the same line is they also offer a pearl base color which can be mixed with other colors to make them pearl. These paints can be thinned with alcohol or Windex and airbrush quite well. Their color array is almost limitless, because they can be mixed to make any color you desire. Using them in an airbrush does require a bit of a learning curve but nothing extreme. The biggest issue being their very thin coverage, it takes quite a few coats to build up the color. However they are thin coats and do not obliterate detail. Hope this helps.
  7. Very nice looking coupe. The occasional bone-stock build is necessary, and that one is a beauty. One question, was your interior bucket thicker on the passenger door than on the drivers door? I have two different versions of this kit and both of them have the lopsided interior.
  8. I had this same issue addressed several years ago on another long gone forum. I needed some way to slow down my Black&Decker grinding tool (at that time a poor man's Dremel). It only had one speed. I asked for ideas on that particular forum and was told the same thing. However I already had the pieces needed (dimmer switch, plug-ins, wire, etc) and built an electrical box with the dimmer switch. I have been using it now for at least 15 years and have had no trouble with burning out the motor. Maybe I have just been lucky.
  9. What were your issues with superglue and baking soda? Going to be a nice build, looking forward to updates.
  10. I think I got mine in the sewing section of Walmart. I have had it so long I do not remember. And if you spill MEK on it the pretty white lines disappear.
  11. Looks really good. Just like in the movie before Gator got ahold of it. Now one question, does yours have an automatic or a 4-speed? The sound track had Gator shifting gears, but when he parked it on more than one occasion he would put the column shift lever in the very up position- which in most cars is Park. Looking back over the pictures I see it has a floor shift.
  12. I used some a couple years ago, still have it hanging on my wall. If I remember correctly it did not stick as well as I hoped it would and I got a bit of bleed. Of course I was trying to use it on complex curves, it may work alright on smooth, straight surfaces or if cut into thinner strips..
  13. The AMT 55 Nomad with Gasser option has a really nice one. I also believe there is one available in the AMT Double Dragster kit.
  14. Mighty sweet Mustang and that color really sets it off. Nice clean build.
  15. "I am an American, fighting in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense." This is the first statement in the Soldier's Code of Conduct. Each of us learned this code in basic training. So many of us did not really pay a lot of attention to the words. Today, however, that last phrase holds much more sway in all our lives. Far too many of us still walking around know at least one or two who "gave their lives in their defense." To all my fallen comrades a silent salute and a prayer of GOD's peace for your families.
  16. A little late, but it could have been used in the royal wedding. Very creative work.
  17. Definitely some good looking machines. I just went through my file of Vintage Racers from the 2011 North-South Shootout at Concord Speedway, NC. Didn't see any overlaps so thought I would share a link to my album. https://imgur.com/a/92Gpvkq If you notice there are actually two different 57 Fords #4 and #4D, one is a chopped top post car and the other is a hardtop with no A pillars.
  18. Just completed a great deal with Chris Smith (von Zipper). Will be glad to deal any time.
  19. Sounds like you are having a real dilemma. Other than what has already been suggested my only thoughts would be to very carefully begin sanding and pay very close attention to body thickness. As far as the ghosting, once the trim is sanded away spread a layer of thin super-glue, let it dry thoroughly then smooth it out with fine sandpaper. I have never tried this process, but have read on this and other forums it works quite well. Good luck with it.
  20. Beautiful Plymouth. That color really fits it well. Also your photography is excellent. Several of those pictures make it difficult to tell from a real one.
  21. I watch "Blue Bloods", I have always liked Tom Selleck (perfect mustache) and I drool over Bridgette Moynihan. Other than that I watch reruns of Law and Order, especially the ones with Jerry Orbach (R.I.P) as lead detective and Sam Waterson as ADA. Not sure if NCIS is on the list, but I also really enjoy that one, especially in reruns with Cote de Pablo.
  22. Check with PPP resin products for a set of early NASCAR rims. They have a six bolt somewhat wide rim.
  23. OOP - Out of production (which many of the good kits are)
  24. Just finished "My Tears Spoiled My Aim" by John Shelton Reed. It is a serio-comedic sociological study of reflections on the Southern culture. Reed is a professor of sociology and American studies at UNC Chapel Hill. I have recently picked up "The Lost Airman: a True Story of Escape from Nazi-occupied France" by Seth Meyerowitz, looking forward to getting into that one.
