  1. Not really sure what is happening with Revell, since I have no business sense. That being said I worked for Pony Express Delivery (anyone remember them) back in the late 90's. They were struggling, poor leadership, etc, strong competition from UPS, FEDEX, and a new upstart DHL. Borg-Warner (the gear people) bought out Pony Express, issued us all new uniforms, poured some money into the operation, then closed it down six months later and wrote it off on their taxes. Just hope this is not what is happening with REvell. But as others have said I have enough kits to last me until my 175th birthday.
  2. I got this '61 Impala from a friend on another forum to participate in a Glue-bomb CBP, he furnished all the glue-bombs.
  3. The WalMart "craft" section has a fair choice of sizes of braided wrapping string (for lack of a better name - see picture). Also Hobby Lobby, Michael's, and A. C. Moore has some different size braided wires in their jewelry section. Those two spools of braid are quite small and makes excellent NOS, brake, or fuel lines
  4. What irked me today was a call from my bank's Credit Card Fraud Division. You probably already know where I am going with this. Some low-life scum sucker got my numbers and placed an internet order with Best Buy for $170. Luckily the bank held the approval until they contacted me. Now I am going to be getting a new card, will have to go into every account where I may buy on-line and change my password and credit card numbers. Why can't these stinking piles of recycled groceries get a job and spend their own money instead of trying to steal mine? Can you tell I am a bit perturbed?
  5. For thinning acrylic paints I have used distilled water, Windex window cleaner, or rubbing alcohol. All have worked quite well. I have found a good primer base is a prerequisite to give the acrylic something to hold on to rather than smooth plastic.
  6. Just finished a trade with Toner283 (Chris Tone), exceptionally pleased. He included much more in the parts than expected. Will be willing to trade again. Thanks Chris for a good trade.
  7. Really nice, cleanly built Camaro, looks ready to rumble. Just hope the trips are not too long or it is going to run hot without a fan.
  8. Great looking hot rod. Some high school kid back in the late 50's or early 60's would have been the BMOC driving that to and from school. And as Partsmarty said, leftover/parts builds are some of the best.
  9. When building roll cages and frames I like to fishmouth the ends of the rods and tubes for a cleaner fit and a better glue joint. However I have a difficult time getting the fishmouths centered in the ends of the tube (.080 and .100 size). I also have a difficult time getting each end fishmouthed on the same plane, in other words they are quite often a few degrees off from being parallel with each other. I use a small round jewelers file for this work. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get better, more even fishmouths?
  10. The only benefit I can think of is that if the item does not sell, the seller may relist at a lower price. If you have been watching it, Ebay will notify you of the relisting.
  11. OW, my eyes. You should have posted some kind of warning. Nice paint work, even down to the "orange spray tan" on the gentleman.
  12. What the body is called does not really matter anymore. I have yet to go to my dealer and find a Camaro or Mustang with a "B" pillar and a four door sedan roof line, nor can I find a V-8 rear-wheel drive Camry or Fusion. NASCAR is unfortunately on its last legs. Just saw yesterday where Lowes is pulling its sponsorship of Jimmy Johnson after this season. Most of the corporate 'giants' have moved away and took their money with them.
  13. If I remember correctly they only lasted for a couple to three years. There was something to do about the safety of the vehicle and it went away for a few years, but resurfaced as the Samurai. Yeah, I owned two Datsuns, the first was a blue '74 and the second was a blue '78 King Cab, really loved those trucks.
  14. Cool looking Samurai, really like that color. Back in '74 I was looking for a new vehicle, preferably something smaller and fuel efficient. Stopped by the Datsun dealer in Sedalia, MO to look at pickups. They had just got in a shipment of a brand new vehicles called the "Bobcat", which later became the Samurai. If that vehicle had a track record I may have bought one, after all an $1800 4X4 could have been a lot of fun. Instead I bought my first Datsun pick-up.
  15. "Did I see someone mention a unicorn Cobra ? What the heck would that look like I wonder ? " With your creative skills, do you even have to ask the question? Love the boxed up snake idea, very unique.
  16. Really cool old hauler. It was even "aerodynamic" before it became all the rage.
  17. Excellent build, that color combination really looks nice. Also like the idea you used a "real" engine in it. I also have one of these in my stash, probably need to look through it again to make sure it has not turned to dust.
  18. Not sure if you are doing it, but I would suggest very thin layers to build up the lens if using clear glues. Will probably take a couple days or longer to finish.
  19. That is some mighty fine work. Looks like a Bud Light can laying in the edge of the weeds. What is the tattoo on her back.? I am really amazed at your skin tones.
  20. That may not necessarily be a glowing endorsement. I would be more than happy to tell my sister to drive it if I can see the air through the tire's sidewalls. JK, I really do love my pita sister. I have had a set on my '83 S-10 since 2009, they still hold air, have good tread, and have no cracking. They were stored in the basement on jackstands for a couple years and overall they have probably less than 3000 miles on them.
  21. One issue that has not been approached in this "discussion" is the fact Round 2 may not realize exactly what is in the box. The box cover may be of a factory stock kit, however there will be custom/speed parts from an earlier issue still on the sprues. Many of the AMT/MPC/etc I have bought recently have had parts on the sprues that are not mentioned on the instruction sheet, but were parts of the original issue back when they were all 3-n-1's.
  22. Plus, I imagine the heat may have an effect on someone drafting; just running out a thought.
  23. Beautiful build. Like everything you have done with it. That exhaust system really threw me off since most circle trackers have it running out the side.
  24. Going to be fun watching this one come together. I picked up a glue-bomb last fall at the CKM show, it is missing the hood hopefully I can scratchbuild one.
