  1. Unfortunately, yes. There may be some local limitations as far as height, but I have seen several of them; primarily, full-size Ford Galaxies.
  2. Oh yeah, what he said. Both those Fords are top notch. That is also a really nice looking Fairlane. Welcome to the forum.
  3. One of the old-timers and backbone of the real NASCAR. Ford man all the way. Mostly a decorated WWII veteran, 3 Purple Hearts and 2 Bronze Stars. Our VFW post was honored to present him with a folded American flag and a 21 gun volley when the Occoneechee/Orange County Speedway Restoration Group recognized him on his 90th birthday two years ago. Many of the outdoor festivities were rained out, but it was still a pleasure to meet him, Ned Jarrett, Marvin Panch, Wendell Scott's daughter, and several others.
  4. What I mean is that it begins to dry on the mixing palette and on my spreader within a couple of minutes of mixing, doesn't give much time to apply it to the parts. I think ideal time would be between 5-7 minutes for hardening to begin.
  5. I have used it quite often and the mixture is IMHO a bit critical. Seems to me I have difficulty getting the hardener correct. Either it gets hard within 2-3 minutes of mixing, or it stays a bit sticky for quite a while, however I still prefer it over most of the "hobby" putties, because it sands smooth and doesn't shrink.
  6. Reminds me of some of the kids on my school bus now. Sure will be glad when they graduate.
  7. Another place to look for cheaper priced furniture items is your local Goodwill Store, Habitat Restore, or Salvation Army. You can quite often come across items that are easily repurposed into usable hobby room furniture. Plus you will be helping some worthwhile organizations. Just thought about consignment stores or estate auction sales.
  8. Mighty fine detail work. Looking at your pictures it appears you extended the bed 1/4" in front of the rear fenders, is that correct? I am planning to do this to a '50 Chevrolet truck to build it into a farm truck
  9. Not much more I can add to what has already been said. Your workmanship on this build is just outstanding. My Dad had a '57 Wagon (regular 4 door) that had been originally owned by a candy salesman, it had bumper stickers for Baby Ruth and Butterfinger. Something like that might add to this already awesome build. Even though this is one beautiful factory stock, visions of a 2X4 283 with headers and 7 inch slicks keep running through my head.
  10. If you are asking what that piece is, it is the expansion tank to allow the hot water room to expand. It should be left on, to allow proper cooling of the engine.
  11. Really love short track cars, especially phantom builds. The majority of my complete builds are just such machines. This one has the look of what was running in the era following the demise of Tri-Fives and Chevelles. Looking forward to updates. I have a '71 Hemi Cuda (missing the Hemi), and this one may inspire me in using the remains.
  12. I have some of these conversions in mind. One I thought to be really unique and "secret" I have already seen on this forum - building a Cougar fastback. However that being said here is one I have in progress, not a lot of body conversion, just enough to make it different. Late model Charger front end molded to a '57 300 C.
  13. Beautiful wagon, like the look and color combination
  14. All of the brands presented are good. It is your choice whether you want a Ford, Chevrolet, or Mopar, so to speak. I have a Paasche and a couple of Badgers I use. One good thing about Badger is they will repair certain parts of your airbrush for free ($8 return shipping charge). I dropped one of mine and crushed the nozzle, plus my 150 would not pull paint from the bottle. They repaired both of them at no additional cost over the S&H charge. However if it is a major problem they will charge for the parts needed.
  15. Very nice looking crew cab. Reminds me of some similar trucks around here that get put into the garage at the first sign of inclement weather.
  16. That has to be one of the ugliest customs I have ever seen. The cut-down windshield treatment is pretty cool, but that Beluga whale tooth grille is more than I can handle.
  17. Excellent looking body, can't wait to see the rest of it. Another one from the Glory Days of drag-racing, before electronics took over.
  18. Same scenario with me and about the same day. My trade started on the 11th. Trader PM'ed me saying "The wifes got your cobra all boxed up. Should be in the mail in a couple hours" I also PMed pictures of the sealed inside kit and a copy of the USPS receipt with tracking number. I have sent three PM's and have not received a reply. He received the kit on the 15th. Probably should have been more careful since the trader has only been on the forum since September and the majority of his posts have been in the "Trade" section.
  19. Hmmm, all I am seeing are small gray circles with white lines through them.
  20. Actually I believe he put his hands in his pockets to shake everything down his pants legs - at least that is what I would have been doing. Definitely a proficient pilot, another Capt Scully.
  21. My, my, my that is one beautiful pickup. Really love that era Ford and you have done an excellent job. Thanks for sharing it with us.
  22. It has already been said but I am going to say it again - beautiful paint and the subtle changes you have made to the body just add to the overall beauty of the build. IMHO the '40 Coupe was one of the best looking Fords to roll out of Detroit. Nice custom.
  23. Absolutely beautiful work on this iconic kit. I never had the Yellow Jacket, but did build the '30 Phaeton and the Black Widow. Those old Monogram kits were a blast to build. The subtle touches you have added to this build really set it above all the rest. Great job.
  24. When running the jigsaw I also hold the bottle inside an empty coffee can I have in my model room. You can never be too careful when shaking paint.
  25. Looking really good for a 20 year old build. I see it is heading toward the junkyard with that load.
