  1. Excellent build. Love those older builds when stock cars actually looked like stock cars.
  2. Beautiful Gasser, color fits it very well.
  3. A couple light coats of clear or the Testor's decal stuff (can't remember the name right now) will definitely be required to protect the inks from dissolving in the water. The best way I have found to do this is to tape all four corners of the decal sheet to a piece of thick cardboard before applying the clear. That should keep the decal sheet from curling up.
  4. Went to a high school football game Friday night, my neighbor went with me. Saturday afternoon he called and told me he had Covid. Went to the drugstore and bought a test kit. Second test this morning showed negative, so all is good, at least on my end. Neighbor is still down.
  5. Over the past few days I have noticed the forum works fine when I first login to it. However, as I progress down the page it begins to get slower and slower response. Eventually I will leave just to get it to stop a search. Don't know if this helps or not.
  6. Some really good pictures. Got to love an injected BBF Fairlane.
  7. Getting ready to pull out of my drive this afternoon and a 49-50 Chevy pickup cruised by. Real shiny chrome, even shinier black paint, minimal rubber rake with 17 or better wheels. Never seen it before, must do some investigating.
  8. With the addition of this Ford I6, what are the possibilities of doing a supercharged version? I have a project in mind that could use just such an engine, or a supercharged small-block Ford engine.
  9. Exceptionally well built truck. Never was much of a Waltons fan. When they were in their heyday I was in my wild oats days. Still, some very nice work extending that bed and those fenders.
  10. Beautiful gasser and going to be one fine funny car. That being said, IMHO that year Dart and sister Valiant were some of the ugliest cars from the Dodge factory.
  11. Just now (12:22 pm EST) when I clicked the back arrow to leave this particular post the screen got slightly gray and the word "Loading" appeared in a black box at the bottom of the screen. I had to leave the site and attempt to reenter. It took a more than normal amount of time to reopen the site, pretty close to a minute. Edit: when I attempted to submit this post it took 15-20 seconds.
  12. Looks like no matter which way you approach it you are going to lose the package tray. I would suggest using s razor saw to carefully remove the package tray right along the edge of the seat back, and put it somewhere you will not lose it. Use a scribe or the back edge of a #11 x-acto and drag around the edges of the seat to remove it. Just a bit of filing/sanding and should be ready for the sheet metal filler pieces.
  13. Going to be a nice looking build. Really love those older Pro-Stocks.
  14. Beginning to have that look of a Saturday-night free for all racer. Really like the way you are building this one. When they used to run this style car back at the end of last century they were called "Bombers" and consisted of early 70's Impalas, Galaxies, Bonnevilles, Oldsmobiles, and one guy had a Cadillac; normally the Chevies were the better running cars. Looking forward to more updates.
  15. First Choice would be a 1965 Chevelle SS with 327 4-speed (couldn't find a picture) Second choice would be any 1956 Chevrolet 2-door, V-8, 4-speed. similar to this one. And my third choice would be an early 70's VW T2 Westphalia van
  16. I haven't tried it, but I believe you could stack some pieces of styrene for the main box then file/sand to shape. For the ribs, I don't believe there is any styrene small enough although there are some really small rods and other shapes; you might want to check out the Plastruct/Evergreen websites. Another option would be a piece of stranded wire separated into separate strands and glue them in place. For the side pieces use some more styrene pieces sanded to shape. Hope this is helpful.
  17. Thanks for the explanation.
  18. Very interesting project. Where did you make the cuts in the body to combine these together?
  19. I've got that one in the planning stage, collecting parts.
  20. NC checking in, got mine today. Good stuff as expected. Will need to find some time tomorrow to give it a closer look.
  21. I may upset some of you and if I do I apologize. But that first one looks like something George Barris may have puked out of his shop. Not much of a Barris fan, except maybe the Ala Kart.
  22. Excellent build. Tri-5 Chevies make outstanding short track cars. This one is a perfect example of what a short-track car should look like. Mighty sweet for a 23-year-old build.
  23. Yes, yes, and yes to all the above. I've been building off and on since '62. Took a short break while in the USAF, got tired of packing and moving everything so I sold my collection. Once I retired from the USAF went into Michael's found a Lindberg '67 Chevelle and a Gordon Championship car on sale for $5 each. I have since built the Gordon car in my own way, but still have the Chevelle on the shelf along with 200+ others waiting their turn. I have loved cars since two of my uncles had '58 Oldsmobiles, one black and one pink. Another uncle had a 41 Ford pickup with a 292 and Packard three speed, he was a good Ford mechanic when not consuming adult beverages. I build models because I cannot afford the real ones. My '80 Pinto is starting to hit me in the wallet deeper than I had originally expected.
  24. I am in the process of gathering parts to build a Toyota Celica into a supercharged SBF powered gasser. Still trying to source a blown small block Ford, other than the Paxton Y-block in the '57 kit.
