Looks like a winner, very nice build. And as the others have said I like the paint scheme, must have been a dear to mask though.

Why is my paint job dusty?
TarheelRick replied to Milo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The Wal-Mart/Lowes/Home Depot thinners work fairly well with most paints. To add to David's comments, when you remove the stir stick from the paint you can count the drops of paint and time them as the fall from the stir stick. Of course the quicker they fall the thinner the paint will be. I seem to remember reading somewhere you should get a drop a second, but don't quote me on that. Maybe someone else will chime in that has used this method. -

Amazing work and some mighty fine scratchbuilding. Going to be one killer build when you are done. But then, every build I have seen of yours is killer. -
Not sure how I missed this build, but it is some seriously beautiful work. I think I still have this kit, need to look through my stash and see. And if you do not mind I would like to display my red ride - Ford Race Red. Supposedly the similar Chevrolet color is 'Pull Me Over Red'.

Another beautiful flathead that is often overlooked is in the Lindberg/AMT 53 Ford (convertible and hardtop versions). Also the AMT 49 Mercury has a very presentable flathead. Almost any Ford kit from 1932-1954 has some form of flathead, most often the quality of detail varies with the age of the original kit. The Revell '50 Ford pickup (custom-version) also comes with Ardun heads.

What's not to like, it is a Mustang and my favorite year. Very cleanly built. I especially like the interior color. I built one of these many years ago and still have one in my stash waiting to be built.

Going to be an ambitious project, looking forward to updates. Really impressed with the way you photoshopped your thumbs into that picture of a real engine. -

Very nice, clean, unobtrusive build. Just throw a couple of surfboards in the back and go cruising down the Pacific Highway. -

Was at my local Wally-world a couple of days ago and came across a single bottle of one called "Black Gold". It was a beautiful shade of black with really fine gold glitter. Only problem, there was only one bottle and I will normally buy at least two in case I mess up - which is quite frequent. -
Outstanding work and detail, beautiful paint. Also like your choice of wheels and tires.

Question/New Topic for us Oldtimers
TarheelRick replied to TransAmMike's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Will turn 75 this coming Sunday. Working on becoming the Bionic Man, both knees replaced and looking on a shoulder replacement later this year. Somehow, my model work area has come under assault from 'junk storage', must have a clean-up day and garage sale soon. What really feels weird is being the same age as old people. My mind has ideas of a 60 year-old, my body says keep on dreaming. -

I firmly agree with your decision on paint choice. After all it is your build and reflects your vision of the car. That being said, another source of pearl white paint can be found in nail polish. I have two bottles I will be using on my 'Trailer Queen' 50 Ford convertible custom. Looking forward to more updates on this extraordinary build. -
Tips for keeping track of all those trees

Interesting concept. I have a box of empty file folders in my basement, would be a good way to put them to use. -
Bending Resin Parts
TarheelRick replied to TransAmMike's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
And if by chance a bend is not exactly right all you have to do is straighten it as best you can with your hands, then roll it back and forth between two hard surfaces. I use a couple short pieces of 1X4 lumber that I keep close to my workbench. -

Beautiful little truck, nice choice of colors. Love the AMT/Lindberg 34 pickup. -

Beautiful build, always a big fan of Sox & Martin. Often wondered what made their cars faster than the competition. Now I know, it was the Ford paint.

Very nice build. I am going to presume you are a Bill Elliot fan.

"The 777" Tasca Ford '63 lightweight Galaxie
TarheelRick replied to customline's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Really like what I am seeing with this build. Big fan of FX and Ford, so when the two come together I am in styrene heaven. In some of the earlier photos the color had a bit of a beige tone, but when you polished it up it brought it back to a nice white. All that BMF must have been exciting. -
Is that a kit or did you scratchbuild the frame? Either way, very nice build. BTW, who is the sweetie on the 4-wheeler?

the old chevy farm truck
TarheelRick replied to eran_k's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Excellent weathering and beautiful overall build. Really like the one obligatory dent in the fender. This is the kind of truck a hot-rodder cruising the back roads looking for projects would jump on in a flash.
