Is that a kit or did you scratchbuild the frame? Either way, very nice build. BTW, who is the sweetie on the 4-wheeler?

the old chevy farm truck
TarheelRick replied to eran_k's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Excellent weathering and beautiful overall build. Really like the one obligatory dent in the fender. This is the kind of truck a hot-rodder cruising the back roads looking for projects would jump on in a flash. -
Model Clubs In Triad Area Of N.C.
TarheelRick replied to ncbuckeye67's topic in Model Club News and Announcements
I live just outside the Triad, about 30 miles west of Winston-Salem. Would really like to get involved in a club, but that kind of travel could get to be bothersome. When I was at the Salisbury swap meet I talked with a member from CKM, and he related their show is on hiatus while they try to find a new venue. Seems the place they have been using for the past several years is getting to be a pain in the posterior. -
Mine arrived in NC a couple days ago. Really enjoyed a quick scan, spent all day yesterday on the lake - 4 catfish all over 16" and 10 Bream each one bigger than my hand. Anyway, expect to sit down sometime this afternoon and do a long look through.

70s Era Asphalt Modified
TarheelRick replied to OldNYJim's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
Seems this post has been turned into a "I remember when" rather than a build post. Any updates on the build? -
What did you see on the road today?
TarheelRick replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Saw these two at a Cruise-in yesterday. The '40 pickup has a SBF for motivation - Ford-n-Ford gotta love it. -

Forum website has been sluggish for the last few days
TarheelRick replied to peteski's topic in How To Use This Board
A bit sluggish earlier, PM sent to Dave. Of course, since I reported it, it is working fine now. -
SCMA Upstate Model Show in Simpsonville,South Carolina 2024
TarheelRick replied to thatz4u's topic in Contests and Shows
Rats, I was planning on going down there, but had family from out of town visiting. Looks like it was a pretty good show. Have been there a couple times in years past and it has always been impressive. Last time I was there I won a 1/16 scale Jungle Jim kit in the raffle. -
1972 Chevy C 20 stepside
TarheelRick replied to leafsprings's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Very nice looking C-20, your color choice fits it very well. Where did you source the stepside bed? -
Keep those updates coming. I like what you did with the wing actuator. Just for fun, I dug out my kit and it also is missing any semblance of an actuator. Are you going to run the injector stacks as furnished in the kit? I am thinking of maybe replacing them with some stacks from one of the AMT funny car kits. The ones in the kit look rather flimsy for my taste. Anyway, build on.

Very nice looking Mustang, and that color is close to Grabber Blue (IMHO). I like the way you did the interior colors. Looking forward to the "Under Glass" photos.

The only way I can tell this is a diorama rather than a real deal is the lack of tadpoles in the mudholes. Excellent work and very ambitious build, especially in that scale.

Love the 65/66 Ford body styles, looking forward to what you do with this one.

Ford Maverick (new ones) height question
TarheelRick replied to ksnow's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Very nice looking ride, but then it is a FORD so that is to be expected. I had sort of thought (not too seriously) about trading in my F-150 for one of those, but then considered I would have a difficult time towing my pontoon. Yes they have. -
1959 Cadillac Hearse
TarheelRick replied to Karl LaFong's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Very well done, nice "last ride". -
Sweet little high-boy coupe, really like that color.

1973 Ford F250
TarheelRick replied to bill lanfear's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Excellent work on this build, your attention to the details is commendable. Glad you decided to leave off the snowplow, to me that made the build too busy. Would be nice to see a name for some fictitious construction company on the sides and maybe a few pieces of lumber in the bed. Either way you go, this is a beautiful FORD truck. -
DODGE maxi-van / FORD supervan
TarheelRick replied to AMT4EVR's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Haven't done it yet but have plans to build a model of the F-250 extended van I drove for Pony Express. A.J.'s ideas seem about right. -
'64 Ford Galaxie Stock Car
TarheelRick replied to bobss396's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
When I read your title "Galaxie Stock Car" I was expecting another Lorenzen or Jarrett Grand National build. But when I scrolled past the picture of those tires and the rear quarter panel my mouse came to a screeching halt. I do enjoy a good clean Grand National build, but I get excited over a short track build. Like the looks of where this one is going, keep those updates coming.
