Beautiful bodywork on that hood scoop, also like that color. Looking forward to updates.

1934 Ford Pickup
TarheelRick replied to Exotics_Builder's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Very clean little pickup. That red really sets if off. -
I am heavily involved with our local high school softball team. We are in a 1A conference so most of the schools do not have a very large budget, especially for softball. Now football is another issue and another irk. Our spectator area consists of three sets of bleachers. The spectators from one school we play are quite obnoxious and rude. But the real irk is when they come, they always spread out in the middle of the three bleachers. Most other schools will take the bleacher on the end where their team is located, and if necessary will move to the middle bleacher . I don't mind sharing a bleacher with a visiting team if they aren't constantly deriding the officials, our players, and anything else they can complain about.

75 Chevy van custom
TarheelRick replied to Limeyglue's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
That is one beautiful van. Would have definitely been a feature article in Truckin' magazine in the 70"s. A very clean build and your paint work is outstanding. Just wondering, did you do a fuzzy fur interior? -
1967 GTO wheels and covers
TarheelRick replied to ksnow's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Don't know anything about the wheel covers you are searching for, just wanted to thank your Dad for his service. (From another USAF veteran). -
I think he is referring to the exhausts exiting behind the driver door rather than the passenger door ("and out behind the passenger door") as you mentioned earlier. That is going to make one very hot compartment for the driver.

Just did some checking through my stash and it appears the chassis in the AMT 67 Mustang kit could be made to work with a small amount of adjustment. Also, the chassis in the 88 Mustang kit and the chassis in the later model Revell Mustangs ('07 and up) could make nice donors. The later model Mustangs would provide a lot more detail and the updated chassis would make it a killer T-Bird. All those will require some floor pan adjustments or changes. Hope this helps.

Ford Maverick (new ones) height question
TarheelRick replied to ksnow's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Best way to find out would be to go to a dealer with a tape measure in hand and measure it. Remember also the size tires will have some effect on the height of the vehicle. Six foot is 72 inches so if the height is 68.7 that gives you 3.3 inches to play with. The antennas on the roof of my '22 F-150 are less than 2 inches. Hope this helps in some way. -
Speed parts identification, and period useage
TarheelRick replied to tbill's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I ran a set on my '72 C-10. I saw them in a magazine in either '71 or '72, also ran an ACCEL super coil to get some color under the hood. -
That is a beautiful motorhome/toter. The color combination works very well with the size and shape. Only thing missing is an enclosed trailer with some form of race car inside. I have a couple of this style build floating around in my head, just need to get to the bench (if I can find it) and get busy cutting some styrene.

RatFink and BigDaddy go to Indy
TarheelRick replied to BIGTRUCK's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Big Daddy would be proud, very nice and amusing build. -
That is one mighty fine-looking Sedan. As the others have stated that paint is not only smooth but also enhances the lines of the body. Very excellent build.

Won these on an on-line auction, picked them up today. All the kits are sealed except for the '56 Chevrolet and it is a complete kit.

Glad you are back on this one. Those are some serious looking bull bars.

What did you see on the road today?
TarheelRick replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not really on the road, but saw this row of turtles on a floating log when I went fishing last week. -
Just noticed the cross hanging on the fence and what appears to be another on the ground. That makes me presume this is not the first fatality at that particular site. The world is in too much of a hurry. This morning I was going into town cruising along the interstate a bit above the posted (77 in a 70). I was passing cars, looked in my rearview and saw the top of another car. First chance I had I moved over and allowed it to pass. No sooner had it got past me when another car sped past me, whipped into the right lane passed the first one, then back into the left lane and took off down the interstate.

Moebius F 250 w/camper.
TarheelRick replied to happy grumpy's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Some very fine model building. That truck is beautiful, especially like the color. BTW, what is the color? Your work on that camper is exceptional, really looks the part. -
I have a feeling that $200K price tag may have got their attention.

That is one beautiful Avanti, the silver paint really works well with that sexy body. The only issue I have, and it does not reflect on this build, is the bumpers appear to be too wide and stick out past the body a bit too much. They are especially noticeable on your front and rear close-up shots. That interior work is excellent.
