  1. Forum worked fine when I first loaded it, then rather quickly went down hill. I switched from Chrome to Firefox, still no difference. Very slow loading, especially pictures, also slow loading of replies. Can take as long as 35-40 seconds or longer to open a page. At first I closed the forum, then reopened it, still no difference. This reply is being submitted with Firefox.
  2. Very nice build, especially like the color. Even though I am a died in the wool Ford guy, I wouldn't mind having one like this parked on my carport.
  3. But then all the fun will be over. Looking forward to the "Under Glass" posts.
  4. Don't know where to begin recognizing the outstanding exceptional work you are doing with this build. Every detail, whether minor or major is a work of art. I have always been a fan of the GT-40 and other Ford racers, but never really familiar with the mechanics of the car. I have always heard real race cars have three pedals; however, this one has four. All I can figure it to be is a dimmer switch or maybe a footrest, what is its real function?
  5. Was heading into town in the Pinto, so I was driving the back roads. Met a Cobra roadster wanna be (pretty sure a kit car). But what really got me was a Ford Raptor flatbed. Someone has removed the stock pick-up box and replaced it with what appeared to be a homemade wooden flatbed.
  6. What are these instructions you speak of? Very nice Land Rover and I do think you came very close to the factory colors. Nice detail overall. Also agree with you on the headlight screens. There are a bunch of levers protruding through the floorboards, what are they for. I know one is the shifter, another is four-wheel drive, and another possibly emergency brake, can't figure out the other two.
  7. What they said. The detail you put into this build is simply outstanding. Beautiful racer, and I was also amused by the cardboard and duct tape headlight covers.
  8. I have been using an eye-drop for glaucoma for a few years. I get it from a prescription mail-service, who shall remain nameless. It is supposed to be on auto-refill. Last night I used the last drop, so I went to my storage refrigerator and realized I did not have any more. Have been trying all day to contact them and cannot get on the website nor can I get a phone call through to them. I am irked at myself because I didn't realize I was getting low and should have contacted them. Yet, I depend on them to auto-refill my prescriptions or notify me if there is any kind of problem and neither has been done. Hopefully tomorrow they will be back in contact mode, but even then, I will be without the medication for at least three or four days.
  9. Looks like it is time to drag out the acetylene cutting torch. Begs to question the scale of this engine, is it by chance 1/24; also, some of these older AMT kits were a frog's hair smaller than 1/25. Another question about this kit, is your interior door panel thicker on the passenger side than the driver's side. The kit I have is the checkerboard cover, Racing Champions 2002 issue and the passenger door is at least twice as thick as the other side. Looking forward to updates.
  10. Beautiful Fords - redundant statement. Fairly nice collection, that dark blue Fastback is a real beauty. I was up the road a few miles watching some Fords and a few (gag, hark, hark, gag) Chevies going fast. Farmington Dragway held the 14th annual Stickshift Nationals this past weekend. One red T-Bird, a former Pro-Mod car tripped the 1/8 mile in 4.99 secs , was low e.t. for a while, then a former Pro-Mod Vette hit a 4.83. Anyway, thanks for sharing those photos.
  11. Jaw-dropping awesome build. The many scratchbuilt details and the overall cleanliness of the build are outstanding.
  12. Not to steal this post, but is there a conversion to make the current AMT Pinto selection into a '79-80 model?
  13. Looks like a winner, very nice build. And as the others have said I like the paint scheme, must have been a dear to mask though.
  14. The Wal-Mart/Lowes/Home Depot thinners work fairly well with most paints. To add to David's comments, when you remove the stir stick from the paint you can count the drops of paint and time them as the fall from the stir stick. Of course the quicker they fall the thinner the paint will be. I seem to remember reading somewhere you should get a drop a second, but don't quote me on that. Maybe someone else will chime in that has used this method.
  15. Amazing work and some mighty fine scratchbuilding. Going to be one killer build when you are done. But then, every build I have seen of yours is killer.
  16. Not sure how I missed this build, but it is some seriously beautiful work. I think I still have this kit, need to look through my stash and see. And if you do not mind I would like to display my red ride - Ford Race Red. Supposedly the similar Chevrolet color is 'Pull Me Over Red'.
  17. Another beautiful flathead that is often overlooked is in the Lindberg/AMT 53 Ford (convertible and hardtop versions). Also the AMT 49 Mercury has a very presentable flathead. Almost any Ford kit from 1932-1954 has some form of flathead, most often the quality of detail varies with the age of the original kit. The Revell '50 Ford pickup (custom-version) also comes with Ardun heads.
  18. What's not to like, it is a Mustang and my favorite year. Very cleanly built. I especially like the interior color. I built one of these many years ago and still have one in my stash waiting to be built.
  19. Going to be an ambitious project, looking forward to updates. Really impressed with the way you photoshopped your thumbs into that picture of a real engine.
  20. Very nice, clean, unobtrusive build. Just throw a couple of surfboards in the back and go cruising down the Pacific Highway.
  21. Was at my local Wally-world a couple of days ago and came across a single bottle of one called "Black Gold". It was a beautiful shade of black with really fine gold glitter. Only problem, there was only one bottle and I will normally buy at least two in case I mess up - which is quite frequent.
  22. Outstanding work and detail, beautiful paint. Also like your choice of wheels and tires.
  23. That is not a comment you want to make at your 55th high school reunion.
  24. Will turn 75 this coming Sunday. Working on becoming the Bionic Man, both knees replaced and looking on a shoulder replacement later this year. Somehow, my model work area has come under assault from 'junk storage', must have a clean-up day and garage sale soon. What really feels weird is being the same age as old people. My mind has ideas of a 60 year-old, my body says keep on dreaming.
  25. I firmly agree with your decision on paint choice. After all it is your build and reflects your vision of the car. That being said, another source of pearl white paint can be found in nail polish. I have two bottles I will be using on my 'Trailer Queen' 50 Ford convertible custom. Looking forward to more updates on this extraordinary build.
