  1. First Choice would be a 1965 Chevelle SS with 327 4-speed (couldn't find a picture) Second choice would be any 1956 Chevrolet 2-door, V-8, 4-speed. similar to this one. And my third choice would be an early 70's VW T2 Westphalia van
  2. I haven't tried it, but I believe you could stack some pieces of styrene for the main box then file/sand to shape. For the ribs, I don't believe there is any styrene small enough although there are some really small rods and other shapes; you might want to check out the Plastruct/Evergreen websites. Another option would be a piece of stranded wire separated into separate strands and glue them in place. For the side pieces use some more styrene pieces sanded to shape. Hope this is helpful.
  3. Thanks for the explanation.
  4. Very interesting project. Where did you make the cuts in the body to combine these together?
  5. I've got that one in the planning stage, collecting parts.
  6. NC checking in, got mine today. Good stuff as expected. Will need to find some time tomorrow to give it a closer look.
  7. I may upset some of you and if I do I apologize. But that first one looks like something George Barris may have puked out of his shop. Not much of a Barris fan, except maybe the Ala Kart.
  8. Excellent build. Tri-5 Chevies make outstanding short track cars. This one is a perfect example of what a short-track car should look like. Mighty sweet for a 23-year-old build.
  9. Yes, yes, and yes to all the above. I've been building off and on since '62. Took a short break while in the USAF, got tired of packing and moving everything so I sold my collection. Once I retired from the USAF went into Michael's found a Lindberg '67 Chevelle and a Gordon Championship car on sale for $5 each. I have since built the Gordon car in my own way, but still have the Chevelle on the shelf along with 200+ others waiting their turn. I have loved cars since two of my uncles had '58 Oldsmobiles, one black and one pink. Another uncle had a 41 Ford pickup with a 292 and Packard three speed, he was a good Ford mechanic when not consuming adult beverages. I build models because I cannot afford the real ones. My '80 Pinto is starting to hit me in the wallet deeper than I had originally expected.
  10. I am in the process of gathering parts to build a Toyota Celica into a supercharged SBF powered gasser. Still trying to source a blown small block Ford, other than the Paxton Y-block in the '57 kit.
  11. On the way back from town this morning saw a '69 Camaro barn-find on a trailer. The grille was missing or inside the car, car was covered in dust and had soft tires. Didn't look to be in really bad shape body-wise. $omebody is going to have a nice ride $ometime in the future.
  12. When I bought mine in 2022 any pickup around here was as scarce as hen's teeth. A dealer down the road had over an acre of white trucks, but they were fleet and he would not sell me one. The truck I have is equipped pretty much the way I wanted, but would have rather had the SuperCab; although the longer bed would have negated most of the length difference. I could have custom ordered one, but from what the dealers were telling me it would be 2-3 months minimum to get it. Yes, I was a bit impatient, but I needed a truck to tow my boat with.
  13. Really liking this build, I have a couple in my stash. Glad you went back to the kit roof. As mentioned by another post the T-Bird roof is an iconic piece of a T-Bird and just does not look right on anything else. However, I remember seeing Buick portholes in an Impala in a magazine somewhere.
  14. Nothing really exciting about this box art. But, I had many of them in my original collection. I enjoy good box art, but it does not influence my purchase. I purchase primarily based on the subject matter. Most often I will not build anywhere close to the box art anyway.
  15. Beautiful hot rod, sweet overall build. Everything about it fits so well together, very fine work.
  16. Four door vehicles have their place in the market. Yet, I still have an issue with almost every pickup on the showroom floor being a crew-cab. They are basically a four-door sedan on a truck chassis. I own a 2022 F-150 and it is a four door. Admittedly it does have its benefits, but compared to the 2018 SuperCab I owned it is a bear to park, especially in those parking garages at hospitals, etc. I guess I will eventually get used to it, but as mentioned above "I am not a fan of "electric" Mustangs", especially with four doors.
  17. Excellent paint work, I can see where the masking would be a bear. Very nice overall build.
  18. Again, I was looking on the wrong side of the world. It has a definite Asian flare to it.
  19. Very nice overall build. You have done a very commendable job with the light surface rust. One of my favorite aspects is the badging on the front fender.
  20. Couple of nice Willys. Really like that blue and wonder how you got that nose piece to fit so well. This is one of my favorite of all time kits. I have built two variations of the pickup: one gasser, one rat rod, and one of the coupe: modified short track. I think I have enough pieces left over in the other three boxes to build at least two or three more: coupe gasser, street pickup, custom coupe.
  21. Sure glad these builds came back up; I missed them first go around. As the others have said this is some excellent weathering, also like the 'almost gloss' on the pickup. One question I have, not just about yours, but any 'barn finds', is where are the bird droppings? Every time I uncover my pontoon, the cover is layered in bird droppings. And that is normally once or twice a week, something found in a barn after several years should be covered in guano. Still, these builds are some really nice work.
  22. Will probably stick with the 2.3. I've been trying to source some parts - cam, header, carbs, etc. Right now it is in the upholstery shop getting new front seat covers and a headliner. Once it is out I will try to find a good mechanic who is willing to work on it and see where I can go from there. When I bought my two parts cars they came with some fairly nice looking wheels, one had an extra set in the trunk. Only issue is they are 13" wheels, right now it is running 14's.
  23. Very impressive work, especially the grille and opening headlight buckets. Don't see a lot of Cougar builds, will be watching this one develop.
  24. I have been considering a 3.0 or 4.0 V6 for my Pinto, but never considered a flathead. Of course the cost of a good flathead could be a bit prohibitive.
  25. Beautiful Coupe/Gasser, really like that color. And the idea of a Buick engine is a bit out of the box thinking, I like it.
