Alfa Romeo 158/59

Excellent build under way here. As the others have said your attention to detail is above reproach and outstanding in every way. -
What is your NUMBER 1 favorite movie car
TarheelRick replied to Thedragsterdude's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
From a Grade B movie, and that is being nice, second feature at the Drive-in (remember those). Movie was titled "Hot Rods from Hell". The main bad guy, leader of the hot rod gang drove a '60 Vette with missing front bumper and straight axle. I've only seen it twice, once at a Drive-In in the early 70's and again on an obscure cable channel around 2005. Was filmed in B&W and totally cheesy plot line. Gang harasses a family traveling through the Nevada desert, one pre-teen son and of course an attractive late teens daughter. Law was more interested with Betty at the diner, so Dad had to take matters into his own hands. There were some other pretty cool cars, but the leader had to have the coolest.- 174 replies

Very nice work, some very interesting concepts in this build.

Looks good, looking forward to more additions.

Kind of reminds me of the Rivian (sp) Cybertruck. Wonder if Elon might own a copy of this thing?

Farm Floater Truck 1/24th scale

As the others have said, this is a piece of fine art. After looking at the pictures of the 1:1 cab area, I am wondering if you are going to model the cobweb running from the monitor to the base. Just kidding, I am truly amazed at the detail you are putting into this build. -
Very nice build. The 57 Wagons made good business sales cars. My Dad had one he bought used and it had stickers for Baby Ruth and Butterfinger candies on the bumper.

Beautiful rig. Need more information on this build. Where did the body come from? Where did you source the hauler? -

Excellent build, as the others have said that is a beautiful paint job. Interior is also outstanding, noticed the old pull handle emergency brake. If you pull them too hard they will sometimes break the cable or lock the brakes up, don't ask how I know.

New hot rod project featuring 1936 Ford Model A "Wide Five" wheels
TarheelRick replied to tim boyd's topic in WIP: Model Cars
The original issue Monogram 36 Ford Coupe/Convertible had a really nice set of wide-fives, although not really sure what they look like under the hubcaps. -
Procon Fan Tip 290 Airbrush
TarheelRick replied to TransAmMike's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I had a similar issue a few years ago. I was advised to make sure to filter my paint before putting it in the airbrush. One of the best filters available is women's nylon stockings. They are fairly cheap, or maybe your wife/girlfriend would give you some of her worn-out ones. All you do is put the stocking across the top of your paint jar, push it down inside a bit to form a sort of cup, put a rubber band around the top of the jar to hold it in place, then carefully pour your thinned paint into it. You don't need to cut the stockings, that will cause them to unravel. Hope this helps. -
Some impressive work on that section job and the A pillar work. These older box-shaped cars just scream to be sectioned. On most of them the key to an easy, clean section is to section the section line just as you did. I did the same on a 50 Ford convertible I am working on. Looking forward to updates.

That is a beautiful conversion effort. Looks to be factory original, great job. -
That is some very nice chassis detail work, something to be proud of.

Ollie's strike again
TarheelRick replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My local Ollie's Has the gas tanker, Indian Chief, and Cobra II, but they are marked $14.99. -
No, one is just fine. I have a 61 Ford custom I am building with a futuristic flare and I think the turbine wheels would look good on it.
-
Looking for a set of 1/25 scale turbine blade style wheels. Most of the ones I had over the years I discarded, now I find I need a set for a custom I am building. Lots of trade fodder, let me know.

Sweet looking Shoebox, really like the way you worked the Nova roof onto the Ford body. Smooth, blue paint one of my favorite shades of blue.

Passed a white Mclaren on my way home this afternoon. It was getting a bit hazy, thought at first it was a Vette until I got close enough to read the nameplate between the taillights. Don't see a lot of those around here.
