  1. Definitely some outstanding detail work. It takes excellent craftsmanship to turn that brick into the jewel it became.
  2. That door is a model in itself. The only thing missing is a couple of bullet holes; it's hard to find one in the wild without a few holes in it.
  3. Really taking shape very nicely, keep those updates coming.
  4. Some mighty fine scratchbuilding. Really like all the extra details you are adding, and that interior looks awesome.
  5. Another Tarheel welcome to you, I am just west of Winston-Salem.
  6. Yeah, but he is wearing fireproof gloves. Very nice build of an old classic.
  7. I'm glad this one has resurfaced, somehow I missed it the first go around. That is some beautiful work. One thing that caught my attention was the way the man in the suit, just off the starting line, is checking out the polka-dot bathing suit.
  8. I know I have put my name into several of the CBPs and have finished none, but I think I might be able to do this one. Count me in.
  9. Looks like you have a decent body/interior. As far as the chassis, I'm not very familiar with AMC products but I wonder how close a Nova chassis is to that body.
  10. That is one awesome build. Nothing subtle about it, just looking at it you know it is going to have incredible power under the hood. Paint looks exceptional. Overall sweet pickup.
  11. Really looking forward to progress on this build. One of my passions is local short-track racers, have built a few of them. Below is my version of a Figure-8 race car.
  12. The Chevy "mystery engine" is the one Junior Johnson ran successfully in the '63 NASCAR season. Well, as successfully as he could be before blowing them up, he did grenade a few during the season. But, when they were running he gave Freddie, the Silver Fox, and the other blue ovals a run for their money.
  13. "All of our associates are working with other customers, please wait for the next associate" garbled elevator music, "There are x# calls ahead of you, please hold on for next associate" more garbled elevator music. Or my real favorite is "All our associates are currently helping other customers, please call back later. Good-by." I had one the other day that told me I was #3 in line, the next time they came on the line I was #4, I hung up and called back much later. Do all these places only have one person working the telephones and are they on coffee break? I will normally put my phone on speaker and lay it on the desk. One day I actually completely went through this forum, replying to builds before I got to speak to a live person.
  14. Excellent paint, interior, ans overall build. How did you get that rich leather look to the seats?
  15. Sweet little gasser, really like the idea of the V-6; should classify it in H/G. A side story, when these were first introduced they were compared to the Corvette in appearance. A friend of mine bought one. When he came by to show it off I asked him who had washed his Corvette in hot water and shrank it. He was not amused, crawled in his "mini-vette" and drove off.
  16. Watching this build, I am a gasser fan. Looking at that last picture, it appears both the front and rear axles are not centered in the wheelwells. Of course it could just be the perspective of the photo.
  17. X-Acto makes different size handles, I have two or three different ones.
  18. I bit the bullet and went down to my local Ollie's. They had a selection of the Monogram Tri-5's (56, 57, & 57 Nomad), some AMT Avantis, Fairlane stockers, Chevy II funny cars, and an assortment of some other stuff; lots of Dodge Slammers, Speedracers, and 1/32 Black Beautys. I did pick up a couple of the Mail Trucks, with discount I got them for $14.99 apiece. The store was a bit crowded, but most of the people were courteous and would step aside in the aisles to let you pass. Also picked up a pack of Golden Oreos. It's about time to grab some recliner time in front of the television and do the Oreos some damage.
  19. Yesterday's weather was pretty nice, mid 50's, no wind, and plenty of sunshine. So, my fishing partner and I decided to hit the lake for a bit of relaxation. Didn't catch anything worth keeping but had fun. On the way back down the lake to the loading dock an alarm went off on my boat, I didn't even know it had an alarm. The tach immediately dropped to 0 rpm, but the engine kept running. The lake was pretty smooth but a couple minutes later the boat felt like it was beginning to 'porpoise', so I backed down the throttle, a couple minutes later it began the same, so I backed off the throttle some more. By the time we got within sight of the loading dock we were barely moving, and within 100 yards of the dock the engine quit completely. Luckily, I had a good charge on my trolling motor and we used that to get to the dock and get loaded. One time before I could not get the engine to more than 4000 rpm, when I took it to the dealer they, of course, could not duplicate the problem; however, when I got it back it worked fine. I am a bit hesitant to take it back to them, but they are the ones who hold the warranty, so I will have to hope they will take the problem seriously.
  20. Very nice looking '40 pickup, Those doors fit very nicely, they can be a real bear to fit properly.
  21. That is a beautiful Boss, Should have been a factory color, fits that body style very well.
