Again, still waiting in the foothills of North Carolina. Would really like to see what all the praise is about.

Beautiful black paint job and that interior detail is outstanding. Really like the build.

Gassers, Modified Productions, and Super Stocks are my favorite of all time drag cars. You have built an impressive collection of Gassers. As many of the others have said that '49 Ford is over the top beautiful, most excellent and inspiring work.

This is my first attempt at doing a "non-shiny" paint job. The premise is an early moonshine runner's supply truck. It has a modified '49 Mercury flathead. rear tires are spun slick, and the bed has real wood with one slat broken. Of course, all the chrome pieces are painted black, because you do not need an unnatural reflection in the woods on a moonlit night.

I've been on one for over 12 years. I use the Resmed Airsense10 with the over-the-nose only mask. Used to use the full nose/mouth mask but could not sleep on my back, the mask kept breaking the seal so I went off it for a couple of years. I tried it again and discovered that when I lay on my back and began to relax into a sleep my lower jaw would drop just a minor bit causing the mask to leak. Talked with my family doctor and he recommended me to a dentist. The dentist fitted me with a mouthpiece, similar to the one athletes wear, except it is both top and bottom and connected with a plastic, replaceable hinge. In the past few years I have switched to a mask that just covers my nose, so I no longer use the mouthpiece. Because I have been diagnosed with sleep apnea the CPAP is required for my CDL bus drivers license. The issue I am having now is that I recently changed bed headboards and the hose is catching on the vertical slats; need to find a better way to route the hose.

Shelby real or fake?
TarheelRick replied to Scott8950's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I seem to remember one of those "car rebuilder shows" on TV that had purchased a Mustang to rebuild. During the process they realized the VIN tag had been removed and replaced. Not sure if the VIN matched the car they had, they called in some "Mustang experts". It seems the expert found a VIN stamped somewhere under the rear sheetmetal, and in fact the Mustang was a stolen car with modified VIN tag. Not sure if this recollection has any significance to this discussion, just threw it out there. -
Right now the local wind speed is around 15 +/-, temp is 23F with windchill of 9F. Snow turned to sleet/freezing rain about an hour ago. I can really hear it pelting against my windows. Guess it is about time to fire up the old fireplace.

Started getting a wintry mix here sometime early this morning. It is still coming down, we are predicted 2-8 inches. Current temp is 19 degrees F with a guesstimated high of 30, so this will stay around for a couple of days. I have heard a couple of snowplows go by, and just a couple minutes ago some idiot in a van came by revving his engine. He will probably be off in a ditch pretty soon. When this mess stops, I will be getting out my new-to-me tractor with scoop and see if I can get my driveway cleaned off, maybe a couple of neighbors also.

As a veteran I thank you for the recognition. This is one awesome build. Love every detail of it.

Not only is that an excellent model, the photography makes it look like a GM sales brochure. Very well done.

Cutting Sheet Stock Accurately & Easy
TarheelRick replied to redneckrigger's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Very nice cutter; I really like the weathered look you have given it. BTW, be sure to count your fingers after each use, these things are notorious for nicknames such as "three finger Louie" -
Still waiting here in the southeastern US.

TarheelRick replied to Warren D's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I drive one of these every day, twice a day --- Wait a minute, I don't spell it that way!! But oft times the contents are the same. Very nice, original build. Thanks for the giggle. -

Revell VW T2 camper (bay window) Snap

I have to try to get one of these, I also had a 1:1. In a moment of insanity I traded it for a 78 Rabbit - what was I thinking? -
Ditto to Keavdog, of course these are now only occasionally. Back in the day almost anything would work, except Budweiser, I have never been able to drink that stuff. While in Korea, similar to Alexis post, the go-to beer was Crown. It seemed to be anywhere from 3.2 to 70 proof. You could sit there drinking until curfew, get up, take a leak and walk away or wind-up crawling on the floor after only a couple. A youth misspent.

Very fine Ford, but then most all of them are. Nice detail work also. Is this a kit or did you do some kit-bashing and clean fabrication?

The 2022 Cannonball Run Year of Birth Build Thread
TarheelRick replied to disconovaman's topic in Community Builds
Haven't done much building in the past couple of years, started a couple but some extreme life changes got in the way. Now, if I can get some heat in my basement, I hope to join in this community build. Guess I will be knocking Landman out of his "oldest" spot. I will be building a 49 Ford with some modern touches. Right now not sure of how many, if any, body mods I will be attempting. I'm sure there will be some, just not sure how extensive. -
Today is January 3rd, according to the calendar I have downloaded from the Yadkin County School Board, today is the day we return to school. I am a bus driver, so I naturally have to get there quite early. Out of bed at 4:15 AM, get ready, drive through some fairly steady rain with wind, and arrive at the school. No one is there. I wait awhile, check my local news app and find out school has been delayed for two hours because of some possible inclement weather. Miffed because I did not get notified by phone tree I drove back home and drank some more coffee. Two hours later (7:05 AM) I again check my phone app and it still says delay. Get ready, rain has got heavier - going to be a rough wait for the kids at the bus stops. Arrive at school, no one is in the parking lot, so I sign in using my telephone, and wait awhile. Finally call the bus garage and they tell me school has been cancelled, the call went out at 7:00 AM. BTW we did later this morning get a small snow shower.
