I heard this over the weekend. Kind of wish I hadn't. I love his voice, but just don't like this rendition at all. Now, his version of Led Zeppelin;s Thank You, or Sinead O'Connor's Nothing Compares 2 U....now those are great!

?? Guitars in tune good and firm?... ?
iamsuperdan replied to disconovaman's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I had an X Series Rhoads that was awesome. Silver with black bevels, hardtail. Had horrible tuners though, and never stayed in tune. Should have just upgraded and kept it. -
Swedish ricer?
iamsuperdan replied to El Roberto's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not sure what my post or presence has to do with anything. ? If I had any issues at all or saw any issues with the term "ricer" or "rice rocket" then I would have sent this into oblivion long ago. Carry on... -
Swedish ricer?

If anyone is wondering, the rear bumper sticker seems to be celebrating the retirement of 73 year old Johor Bahru from the municipal council. Well that's nice. -

Is that a Jackson Warrior hiding there behind the Explorer? i'm typically a Superstrat guy, and not big on pointy guitars, but those have always been on my list. -

Excellent work! One of the many hobbies I don't have time for is rebuilding guitars. -
You have my attention! I've always loved the Harlequin Golfs. Got to play with them when new, as I spent most of the 90s working at the local VW dealer.

AMT Chev 454SS
iamsuperdan replied to iamsuperdan's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Didn't get much done last night. Nothing real exciting anyway. First coat of paint on the Recaros. I find British Crimson in the Model Master lineup does a reasonable job of simulating leather when it dries. And it compliments a Humbrol dark red I use for dashboards quite well. These are pretty much the only paints I use that aren't Tamiya. Also hit the dash with Tamiya Burnt Iron. Does a good job of simulating the dash grey on the real thing. Matches my 99 Tahoe almost perfectly, so I figured it would work here. Did a bit of assembly on the engine and suspension bits too. Clean up and paint to follow. -
International Prostar interior
iamsuperdan replied to Aerodyne03's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Prostar, much like a lot of trucks can be pretty significantly customized when ordered, so finding a "stock" interior pic can be a challenge. They definitely had two tone interiors available, much like the pics above from the instructions. They were also available with a wood laminate floor, also like in the pic above. -
AMT Chev 454SS
iamsuperdan replied to iamsuperdan's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Yeah, was supposed to be temporary, as the owner had some health issues, but it's seeming more and more like they might be permanently closed. Which is too bad, they had some really nice stuff. Dash and grille came from the parts stash. I have quite a few of these OBS trucks, and amassing quite the "pick n pull" yard for parts. Kits, promos, parts, etc. I should do a diorama with them. Anyway, these came from (I believe) a promo Chev K3500 duallie. -
Doing up a mild custom on this 454SS. The OBS body style is my all time fav truck, and I can't get enough of these kits. Normally I just build box stock with a little detailing, but this time I'm going a little further, and it will be basically my first attempts at using resin. This is AMT's Chev 454SS kit. I'll be updating the dash and front grille to the 1994 and up redesign. Seats will be Recaros from Clearly Scale. Engine will be a supercharged LSX, also from Clearly Scale. I'm undecided on wheels and colour so far, but I have ideas. Interior will definitely be a dark red, similar to the original SS interior. All I've done so far is clean up the body a little, test fit the grille, and get the first bit of colour on the dash.

Nice build! I love these cars. Would love to find a clean one to play with.

Is anyone watching the 70th anniversary F1 race?
iamsuperdan replied to STYRENE-SURFER's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Thought this was an excellent race. Nice to see how competitive the field is now. Seems like most teams are pretty evenly matched, which makes for some interesting racing. And even though it's kind of a given that both Mercedes will be on the podiums, it's nice to see those two battling it out and running so close. I'm enjoying this season so far! -
Well, I actually finished this. The first BRBO I've actually been able to finish, despite having signed up to a few! So this is Revell's "Trucks Of The World" Kenworth Aerodyne kit, circa 1982, along with a reissue of the Revell Auto Transport trailer. I was pretty impressed with the build quality of the Revell truck, and wish AMT could offer a kit that went together as nicely as this one. No flash, clear instructions, lots of detail. My only problem was with the chrome trees. The chrome was coming off in large flakes. Not sure if it was cheap chrome or just the fact that this kit is over 30 years old. Painted in Tamiya TS23 Light Blue and TS26 Pure White. I made the decals using a logo made by Shambles. Pretty much stock build, but added some bigger stacks using some aluminum pipe I had laying around. I see some places to improve, but overall I'm pretty happy.

I'm stunned. Actually got the build done! Posting it now in Under Glass. -
The Mach E Ford should have done
iamsuperdan replied to Sam I Am's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There's a lot of companies/people building cool things out of wrecked Teslas. Mark my words, give it a year of normal production, then Ford will announce a Mustang Mach-E Shelb-E. -
INDY AND COVID
iamsuperdan replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
FOr me, the lack of fans in the stands hasn't diminished my enjoyment of Formula 1, BTCC, or NHL hockey. Indy will be no different. The racing will still be the same calibre it has always been. -
That brown Plymouth Fury is awesome.

What Did You Get Today? (Not Model Related)
iamsuperdan replied to LOBBS's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I appear to have obtained a project vehicle. 1995 Chev K1500 with the 6.5L diesel. Needs some work and a ton of TLC, but it was free, so I can't complain. -
No doubt. Lewis is arguably the greatest driver F1 has seen. He just dominates everything, and does it so smoothly and so well. And he does so without being a prima dona about it. I like that he actually admits to his mistakes, and never takes credit for his successes. Unlike Verstappen, who is an excellent driver, but always has excuses and blame when things don't go his way.

Really big load
iamsuperdan replied to Sam I Am's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I see your 770 ton load, and raise you 800. ? https://www.mammoet.com/news/mammoet-transports-vessel-over-alberta-highways/ What's interesting, is this one took three days for the trip from Edmonton to Fort Saskatchewan. In normal conditions, that's a 20 minute drive. Can you imagine building this? There's at least 6 tractors. How many of those Moebius wheel kits would you need? lolz. -
DARK - is an awesome creepy series. Like Stranger Things but for grownups. Bright - Will Smith movie about humans co-existing with Orcs and Elves, set in modern times. I really liked it. Spenser Confidential - loosely based on the old Spenser For Hire TV show. Mark Wahlburg stars, it's amusing. Uppity - documentary about Willy T Ribbs, the Indy driver. Drive To Survive - a behind the scenes documentary about F1 racing. Two seasons so far. Really, really good. The IT Crowd - simply the funniest show available. British show about the IT department in an office building. I could rewatch this again and again. And I do. Santa Clarita Diet - Dark comedy about dead people in sunny California. Three seasons, and it's great. That's should get you started.

Yeah, dad essentially bought him a team to race for, but to even get to this level, you have to be good. Great to see Lance getting some success now. And actually, I've really enjoyed this season so far. Despite the fact that Mercedes will walk away with both the manufacturer's title and the driver's championship this season, most of the rest of the field is close. Racing Point are both performing well. McLaren have been up there. Renault are getting their groove on. And I was really happy to see Williams get both drivers out of Q1, and not just because others broke down or crashed! They actually qualified on their own merit. And even with Mercedes' dominance, they're still exciting. Will it be Hamilton on top or Bottas? At this point, it's pretty close. Although team orders will no doubt come in to play.
