Shapeways products self-destructing
iamsuperdan replied to 89AKurt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Interesting. I've ordered a lot of items off of Shapeways and have never had an issue. -

Very interested in seeing where this one goes! -
What do you call a stolen Tesla? An Edison.

Has that new Moebius kit been released? Will have to go find one. -
These simple Tamiya kits look great on the shelf when done. Good luck on the paint!

Or they're ladyboys.

How is the magazine faring?
iamsuperdan replied to Bugatti Fan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Bingo! Everyone, just read the locked thread at the top of the general forum for any updates. -
And it's obviously checking my browsing habits, but also must be noticing key words here on the site. here are the three ads appearing on this page right now.

Well, I understand the Ukranian part. My wife is of UK descent, and she does that geneology stuff, so I get that. No idea how that translates into purchasing a bride or the lingerie though. I'm digging in to the lingerie part and researching, as that is very interesting to me.

I really like the theme on this one. Awesome job.

Technically, the ads that appear are based on browsing history and the other sites you visit. They're supposed to be based on yoru computer. WHen I log in from work, it's all ads for auto manufacturers. At home, it's all for Ukrainian brides and lingerie. lolz

The Other Magazine Forum
iamsuperdan replied to TarheelRick's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I remember being on the SA one for a bit. Was a ghost town. Maybe it's different now, but I can't be bothered to check. I'm happy here. -
I discovered this bizarre gem last weekend. Tori Amos doing a very haunting and unique version of Slayer's Raining Blood. Here's the original for those unaware. I like them both.

Looks like the new season starts October 7th. Saw a commercial for it last night. -
https://www.thedrive.com/news/27744/homebuilt-electric-e30-bmw-3-series-with-a-tesla-gm-powertrain-is-the-future-of-hot-rods This one started ife as a BMW e30 cabrio. Then it got an LS swap. Now it has the drivetrain from a Tesla Model S. If you're on Instagram, look this guy up, the story and process is pretty awesome.

What modern US truckkit exists?
iamsuperdan replied to PierreR89's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm in the middle of building the T600A Canepa, and I can tell you that the fit and finish is NOT up to par with a modern tooling. The instructions are vague at best and the kit has a ton of flash and poorly shaped parts. It's turning out okay, but it's a lot of work to get it there. And the multi-piece body is not as well thought out as those in Italeri kits. -
I'm guessing 90% of people here aren't familiar with Motorhead, and definitely have never heard of him, but Larry Wallis, Motorhead's original guitar player passed away at 70. https://imotorhead.com/larry-wallis-first-guitarist-for-motorhead-has-died-at-the-age-of-70/?fbclid=IwAR0JeOUMyWVL7f7zAbF1RCmFUF3MQwvdhKJ6f9IFUQYQSKsY0GFfRlKbh7c Back in high school, my band covered Motorhead a lot. Orgasmatron, Killed By Death, Damage Case, The Chase Is Better Than The Catch. Good times. We now live in a world where all founding members of Motorhead are gone.

The Peterbilt 359 is a lord
iamsuperdan replied to grodudulle77's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Wow. This is the Revell kit? The reissue of the snap together kit?! If so, this is the nicest build I've seen of this kit. Excellent work. -
Thought this was cool. Sotheby's is auctioning the Taj Ma Garaj collection in a week or so. And the car I sold them is listed! https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/tg19/the-taj-ma-garaj-collection/lots/r0009-1988-porsche-rothmans-944-turbo-cup/789635 This Turbo Cup Porsche was on our used lot for a number of years. I used to work for Norden Autohaus, the Porsche dealer mentioned, and the Randy mentioned was my boss. I ran the detail shop from 91 through 97, then was the Porsche sales guy from 2001 through 2005.I spend many hours detailing this one, and then years later got the chance to take it out to PCA autocross events and actually race it. This thing was a monster and an absolute blast. They got a couple of details wrong in the article, but it's overall pretty accurate. For one, the doctor did not sell it to Taj Ma Garaj. He traded it back to us, and we sold it. We also provided all the spares mentioned. To be totally accurate, they should not have clearcoated it when repainting. The original Guards Red paint on these was not cleared from factory. Wish I had that kind of dough for a toy.
