  1. So last week, Jeep announced the Gladiator. And that overshadowed this news. Rivian are producing an all electric truck and SUV, with real offroad capability. https://www.overlandbound.com/rivian-will-bring-electric-to-off-road/ Yes, I think it's ugly. But the interior is kind of nice. And the specs are pretty impressive. The specs listed make it more capable that any half ton available. Including the Raptor. Interesting...
  2. Conversely...the wrap does protect the paint. Drive the wrapped car for a couple of years, peel the wrap, perfect scratch-free paint underneath. And really, why not have a little fun with it. I kind of dig some of the camo. The winter camo on the Gallardo with ski box looks good to me. And he drives it in the winter. I'd totally do that.
  3. I'd paint it beige, or maybe that light silvery blue that's popular on Camrys. That might help with making it blend in. Camo can work though. I mean look at this picture of trees. Believe it or not, there is a VW van in this picture. Seriously.
  4. If you think the pics are bad, try seeing it in person. I wasn't in California, but I was in Fort McMurray a couple of years ago when it was on fire. Our company has a branch up there, and being very involved in the community meant that when it came time to assist, it was all hands on deck. A lot of us headed up to assist in whatever ways we could. Seeing this kind of stuff in person really shakes you. This first pic is taken from our parking lot. Those Jeep Patriots in the foreground were delivered to the branch that morning, about 30 minutes before the evacuation notice went out. Somehow, we had zero damage to our building or vehicles. And some of the neighbourhoods.
  5. In this day and age though, everyone is offended by something. And in most cases, everyone is offended by nothing. Look at the "Baby It's Cold Outside" controversy. Anyway, maybe we should have a specific thread for jokes. Have we got one already? Time for a search...
  6. That particular Lambo is a kit, but there are genuine Lambos with camo wraps. For the most part, I think it's a little much.
  7. Meh, gas here in the Edmonton area is currently 93.9 cents per liter. I think that works out to about $3.55/gallon which is about $2.67 US. Cheapest it's been in at least a couple of years.
  8. Great weathering on the frame. Looks used, but not overdone. I'm with you on the multipiece cabs. I finished an Italeri Volvo FH16 a while ago and the instructions called for the cab to be built around the interior. I just built and finished the cab first, wasn;t too hard to get the interior stuffed in there after. I have a couple more Italeri trucks in the stash. One cab over and two North American trucks. And I see they are all multipiece. Ahh well.
  9. Lolz My parents are like this. They absolutely HATE the Austin Powers movies. "We're English and we were in England in the 60s, and it wasn't like that at all." And to an extent, I'm seeing that now with this retro-80s thing that goes on now. These hipsters in their early 20s think they know the 80s. Well they don't! Ugh, I'm turning into my parents....
  10. Yeah, that's the fire retardant. I don't believe it causes any permanent damage, so that cars (and truck) should be able to be cleaned to their pre-fire condition.
  11. Guitar players will understand... A set of new pickups for my Carvin DC800 arrived. Fishman Fluence Stepehn Carpenter set. Will be throwing those in this week. Super excited to get this upgrade done.
  12. Except the Jeep comes with a pretty efficient 3.6L V6, or the 2.0L Turbo 4-cylinder. And when the truck is launched, will have the 3.0L EcoDiesel. The last EcoDiesel Grand Cherokee I spent time with averaged about 7L/100km over a weekend. I think that's a about 34mpg?
  13. My first car was a 78 Thunderbird. Metallic brown, brown vinyl top, plush brown interior, whitewalls, spoke hubcaps, and the 400ci V8. Perfect car for 16 year old me! Watching closely.
  14. I would think chrome annoys the new builders too, as they get confounded and confused when their chrome parts don't glue together as well as the other bits. Not knowing that it's easier if they sand the chrome off the surfaces to be glued. They don't know that process either. The chrome stripping is just one more step that slows the process down for me. And it irks me.
  15. Last night it was this. For those of you with Spotify.
  16. As far as I've heard, no two door. I've talked with my FCA fleet rep about Jeeps extensively. As cool as it would be, I don't think it would sell enough to justify the extra development. TO be honest, I'm surprised they kept the two door when they went to the JL platform.
  17. Chrome parts trees. I wish manufacturers would not chrome anything. Let us take care of that ourselves.
  18. 6/10
  19. Awesome. Your colour choice is perfect for this one.
  20. That looks killer. Awesome job.
  21. No need for more weathering, I think this turned out great. And your diorama is excellent!
  22. Is this the Yodel kit?
  23. Wheelbase is a little more than 19" longer than the 4-door Wrangler. So yes it's longer. And if you want to carry dirtbikes, you have to put the tailgate down on most half tons anyway, so this is no different than the design norm already out there. A lot of people forget that you've been able to buy a Jeep Wrangler pickup for at least 10 years now. The AEV Brute is a factory sanctioned truck conversion, available with full FCA warranty across North America. I've driven one, and it's pretty amazing, and was no harder to park than the 4-door Wrangler I had at the time.
  24. Not to detract from the real losses here, but I find pics like this fascinating. Haunting and sad, but I still like looking.
