  1. Why? No seriously. Other than looking pretty B.A., is there any performance or practical reason why someone would stretch their truck? Random pics. Because everyone likes pics.
  2. Was -32 C here this morning. It's supposed to be -17 by Saturday, which will feel tropical after what we've had the past week or so.
  3. This is a great commercial. I still hate going to Walmart though. Having to get all fancied up and put on my good pyjama pants. I don't need that hassle.
  4. As a somewhat related note, I had a 1985 T3 Doka (double cab Vanagon pickup) that I did a TDI swap in. There is an easy kit for the 1:1, not so easy in scale! Or if one wanted a fast factory van, just find the B32. Vanagon with a Porsche 3.2L flat 6!
  5. Nice job! That rear suspension was a serious pain. I had take a breather from that kit after getting the chassis together. It annoyed me that much
  6. Does that #12 car say Coulthard? Got looking car. I wish the Australian Supercar races were televised here. Along with DTM, WRC, BTCC, etc. Can only watch so many episodes of Fast N Loud and Street Outlaws. Maybe the Velocity channel could show some actual races of something, anything!
  7. Got to play with this today. Aston Martin DBS, 6-speed manual. Unfortunately, summer tires, snow/ice, and -25 degrees Celsius just don't mix.
  8. Whatever theme you go with, this is going to be built to your usual killer standards I'm sure. Have you seen some of the Countach renders out there? What a modern Countach might look like? Your new direction reminds me of these. I only wish Lambo could still build a car as clean as these renders!
  9. Excellent colour choice!
  10. I've driven electric cars, and they have some definite advantages. However, I don't think North American society is ready for them en masse yet. 1. our infrastructure can't handle it. If you want quick charge functionality, you have to install the 240V quick charge stations. imagine the power grid is 20% of all households installed these 240V charging stations. Could not keep up at all. 2. Range. North America is spread out. Until range can equal a gas powered equivalent, it just won't fly. 3. Trucks. We like our trucks and SUVs. We tow, we carry people and dogs, and stuff. Find me an electric that can tow a 30ft camper, and carry four people, a dog, and gear...all at the same time. Oh, and I want the same range as my diesel one ton. 4. weather. Google how the Teslas handle a Polar Vortex. Pay close attention to charging times, performance, and range. Sorry, until the above issues are resolved, we just won't see a switch. Europe and Asia might be a different story though.
  11. Both mentioned by Casey are 1/32 Aurora kits. Not sure how 1/25 Johan are relevant. Just sayin'
  12. Looks really good! And I really like your photography. Outdoor shots add so much to the realism.
  13. Excellent colour choice. Man, that looks good.
  14. Intercoolers aren't visible on the real thing though, so Tamiya really didn't need to include them. Anyway, I have this in the stash. One day will get it done.:)
  15. Most cars will allow you to program the factory remote start for 5, 10, or 15 minute run times. And most let you cycle the remote starting twice. Then you actually need to physically start it.
  16. So this is what I found when I got in my truck this morning. -38 Celcius is about -36 Farenheit. Started with no problems, buit wow was it cold. Despite the seat heaters, the foam was rock hard. Steering was like arm wrestling. Suspension, tires, everything was stiff. Took a while for everything to get warmed up and somewhat comfortable. I plan on hiding in my office with my Tim Hortons Steeped Tea all day today.
  17. If I wanted to watch a group of guys not score for three hours, I'd go watch a couple of my friends at the bar. I'm not a big football fan, but even I recognized that as a pretty dull game. And the halftime show...what a snooze-fest. I guess it's what the NFL wanted though: vanilla, unoffensive, generic, safe. No controversy at all. Personally, I think a halftime show at a football game should be rock n roll. Driving, fast, pump you up kind of stuff. I mena, I don't mind Maroon 5, but it's not football music. Should have brought in Foo FIghters or Guns N Roses or something.
  18. Mine goes back to high school, so 1990 or so. I'm a guitar player, had our old school thrash band back when the old school was the new school. We were pretty good, played a lot of shows in the area, opened for some pretty decent sized tours for bands like Scared Reich, Atrophy, DRI. Made a little money at it too. I hated playing solos, as I never felt my chops were up to the task, but it was kind of the cool thing to do at the time, so the band decision was that I would do a solo during shos. And when I did my little two minute thing, our singer would also introdcue me as Superdan. I kind of stuck with a few people back then, I turned it into a joke, and now here were are almost 30 years later and the name survives on the internet...and with like three people in real life.
  19. If I remember correctly, neither the Doka (Double Cab Transporter) nor the Syncro were ever officially available in the US. In Canada we got both. As a VW nut, and former owner of a modded T3 Doka, I have been scouring the net looking for models of T3 vans/trucks. Revell makes a Westfalia camper version, as well as the UN version, which I believe is a re-pop of an emergency services version, as well as the Magnum PI version. THere is a military kit manufacturer that makes 1/35 versions on bot hthe transporter van and the Doka. I haven't found anything else at all. And definitely not Syncro versions. For funsies, this is my old Doka. 1985 model, with a 2005 TDi engine in the back, egeared transmission, larger turbo, lowered, Mercedes wheels. Okay, sorry for hijacking, now back to the original topic. So what is that thing in the back?
  20. 100% agree. I love building trucks, but these AMT kits are frustrating. There's a lot of test fitting and mockups happening before anything gets glued, that's for sure.
  21. I have no idea. lolz. I had put out a wanted ad here asking for this style of sleeper, and this is what I traded for. Seeing as how the sleeper has it's own set of instructions, I think it might be. I didn't get any pics, but the engine is done now, and I've started getting the frame and underpinnings assembled. Painting will be a delay though, as I paint in my insulated but unheated garage. As of this morning, it was -27 degrees Celsius. THe warmest it's supposed to get this week is on Thursday, at -17 degrees. So for now, all of my paints are in a box in my basement until it warms up enough.
  22. As if I needed another excuse to get some more chocolate in the house! lolz Definitely remembering this though.
  23. What got me thinking about how we'd move is a show on Nova all about the Kilauea eruption last year. And believe it or not, a show about a devastating volcanic eruption got me thinking about how nice living there would be. Then I started thinking about moving from Canada to Hawaii. Especially now that we were at -30 degrees Celsius (-22F) this morning, with -40 degree (-40F) windchill. I guess we'd just rent a Sea Can and load it up.
  24. I was actually thinking this the other night. The logistics of having to move my hobbies. Not only the model stash (admittedly, maybe a couple of hundred) but also my guitars. It's one thing to move down the street, but across country? Or what if we wanted to move overseas? I think we'll just stay here for a while!
