  1. That's the downside with this truck. Much like when Ford did their redesign in 2015, Ram has jacked the price. Now, there is a lot of added tech in this truck, more features, more use of aluminum and composites, etc. Consumers demand more and more, so the prices have to go up. Combine that with the usual 1-2% increase everyone adds every year, and you're left with a pricey truck. This truck has an MSRP of $74965 CDN, and it is NOT fully loaded. Even with the fleet concessions I can utilize, I'd still be putting a cap cost on this truck of about $58-59k. Even the most basic models will see an increase of about $5k over last year. And I guarantee that when the new GMC/Chev trucks atart arriving this fall, it will be the same story. Ahh well, it's still an awesome truck.
  2. We got our first one in today. 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie 4X4. Crewcab with the 5'7" box, nicely loaded, but not fully loaded. The learning curve on this one is pretty steep. Lots of new tech to figure out. And need to find all the new buttons and switches. The drive is amazing. So smooth, and it feels like it has way more power. My personal one is on a railcar, about two weeks away now.
  3. Easy. 1992 Porsche 964 RS in Maritime Blue Or Rubystone Red.
  4. Smyth Performance have been doing ute conversions on Mk4 Volkswagens for a number of years now. The kit is (was) less than $3k, and you can do it in your driveway in a weekend. No welding required. i've been looking for a Mk4 Jetta to use as a base and build my own. They now offer the Charger kit, a Mk5 VW kit, as well as a kit for the Audi A4, which would be awesome as it's all wheel drive. They're also defeloping a kit for the Subaru Impreza/WRX/STI and the VW New Beetle.
  5. 100% agree! As an Edmontonian, I too feel that Calgary is ugly! Seriously though, I definitely notice the rooftop sprawl when coming into Calgary on hwy 2, or driving around Stoney Trail. The problem with the rooftop solar though is the cost, both monetary and environmental, to produce solar panels and the associated battery banks required. I think they look fantastic, but the order bank is so full, if you ordered today, you'd be waiting 2-3 years to get them. Producing them is a lot more difficult and expensive than I think even Elon was expecting.
  6. I can't decide which is better; the realistic builds or the realistic photos! Excellent builds, and your photo skills are fantastic!
  7. Has anyone built the Ghost of General Lee kit? I have that one in the stash, haven't touched it yet.
  8. The only way this could be better is if it was a wagon! Excellent build!
  9. I think the idea of building a replica of a car you know. Watching. If you're looking for inspiration in the notchback, a goood friend of mine has this one. Now supercharged, and very not stock. I'm not a Mustang guy myself, but there's something cool about this one.
  10. RE: Oil discussion, renewable resource. Devil' advocate. Would it be stirring it up too much to argue that oil IS a renewable resource? That oIl and gas are a naturally occurring phenomenon, the earth just keeps on producing it. And that we're in no danger of ever running out? I'n not saying I believe it, but google that theory. It's real, and there are may real scientists that are on board. I find the Indra fascinating. Would be great, because we'll need all of that oil and gas to produce enough electricity to power the grid needed to sustain electric cars. I brought that up in another thread recently. But anyway, back to the discussion. I don't think it's been brought up yet, but FCA already did this car purge from their lineup. The only cars they have left across all brands are the Charger/Challenger/300, the Alfa Guilia, and the Fiat 500. Everything else was dumped a couple of years ago. So this whole Ford thing is really no big surprise when you think about it.
  11. Spent almost the entire weekend outside. Feels good to have the nice weather finally back, and to get the short and flipflops back on!. Didn't get any bench time in, but that's okay every now and then.
  12. Personally, I think you can't lose either way. I've always found the quality of the Japanese brands to be far superior to everything else. Having said that, Tamiya over Hasegawa. More detail, more parts, more accuracy.
  13. I've done a couple of kits, but I mainly buy cheap guitars on EBay, or Kijiji, or at garage sales, or wherever, then bring them back to life. Strip them to the wood, repair the body, repaint, new hardware and electronics, refret if necessary, etc. I like to refer to it as guitar restomodding! I do it mainly for my own stuff, but I've done a couple of consignments for friends and referrals. On the bench right now are a late 80s BC Rich ST-III, an early 90s BC Rich ST Rave, late 80s BC Rich Warlock, mid-90s Squier Stagemaster, and a headless than I'm building from scratch, modeled after a Steinberger.
  14. I'll be grabbing one of these for sure. On a related note, does anyone want a giant Coke decal sheet? I'll have one available in June/July!
  15. Cool! I built one of these when I was a kid.
  16. That truck is perfect for 90% of the truck driving population. Most people that get trucks essentially want a car with a big trunk. They're not towing, they're not hauling heavy loads all the time. Most people want a carlike interior, and room for their mountain bikes, or supplies for doing yardwork, or trips to Ikea, or whatever. I know so many people with trucks that don't use them as trucks. And in my line of work, I lease a ton of trucks to people that never use their trucks as intended. Whenever I get a half ton, I always order the stubby 5.5ft box, as my lifestyle doesn't require something bigger. Yes, right now I'm driving a 3/4 ton Power Wagon, but other than the towing, I really don't need a truck this big. PS. 2018 Ram Power Wagon with 16000km for sale. Inquire within.
  17. Nice and clean. And I like that you went with something other than black!
  18. I have a Monogram 'bird I'm restoring/rebuilding now. Love these old winged warriors. Those wheels are so much better than the Monogram supplied ones. Looking forward to seeing where you take this!
  19. It's bland and boring, and you feel like you've seen it before. It's because you have! THat design has been around for years now, everywhere but here.
  20. It is! Same truck, with different engines and some tech added to the interior. Otherwise, we're getting five year old truck. Ford ahs done that before. The Crown Vic was discontinued for the masses, but was available as the police interceptor only for a few years. Maybe they'll do that again with the Taurus? As I said, and you said, the SUV Interceptor is popular, and if Ford are really looking to cut costs, then they should go purely SUV for the police vehicles.
  21. 2019 Ranger arrives in the fall. So the truck that has been available in the rest of the world for 5 years arrives here in September with only minor tweaks. Good job Ford. Bring out the brand new old truck. Pics is from the Edmonton Auto Show last weekened.
  22. I was finally able to get into the garage and clear the detritus of winter off of the workbench. I can build again! Somewhere not the kitchen table! i don't have to pack up every day when I'm done!
  23. Completely ridiculous. I love it!
  24. Nicely done!
  25. Excellent work so far. Your detailing skills...wow.
