  1. Just as an aside, if you are signed up and paying for Motortrend+ (the on demand streaming tv service) then the digital magazine is free. I have access to everything, up to the November 2023 issue.
  2. lolz. Let's not revive the whole Shapeways discussion from a few months back. Man, that got heated. Yes, Shapeways can be expensive. but they sometimes have things others don't. And let's leave it at that!
  3. I've been eyeballing the Mad Max version. Need to find his Interceptor (at a reasonable price) first though.
  4. Almost vacation time! It's one week until I fly to the UK.
  5. Would love that tour to come here! I've seen Alice a number of times, and he always puts on a great show. Really want to see both other acts.
  6. Safe to assume this is the same truck as the previous versions? Coke...another Coke version...the Produce version...Ryder...the plain one...the other plain one... I really like the kit, but this is a tired mold and is worthy of a proper update. Much like AMT did with the International cabover a couple of years ago.
  7. Although I agree with Bill's point, I think if it came down to it and I had to give a definitive yes or no, I'd say no. 3D printing is not scratch building. I see it as assembly of parts, it's not physically creating the parts.
  8. Turned out really nice!
  9. I was going to say you can buy the 3d files and print one, but Andy beat me to it! Andrey's files just keep getting better. Compare that dash and those door panels to some of his older kits. Even the ones from just a year ago! I don't believe there has ever been an actual kit though.
  10. Finished this one up. Fully 3D printed Batmobile from The Batman. Pretty straight forward kit. Printing time was spread out over a week. If I were to just print the files one after another, this is probably 2 days worth of printing. Maybe 3. I used 5 different shades of black on this one to try and give it some depth. The main body colour is Tamiya's semi-gloss black spray. The engine is Tamiya's gloss aluminum and titanium silver. I'm picking up a vacuum former, and that should help with making the "glass" on these 3d printed kits. As it stands, I'm printing the window parts as a template, then tracing them onto clear plastic sheets and cutting to fit. Side windows are pretty straight forward, but windshields never look quite right because of the curves involved. Still...I'm reasonably happy with this one. Going to to take some better pics of this one.
  11. This is one of those cars that I am kind of surprised that (to my knowledge) no one has ever kitted.
  12. Airfix don't list a scale on these for some reason, but that looks pretty darn close to 1/25, based on your garage diorama. How does it look parked next to you other builds? Also, the Airfix Quick Builds are sort of like Lego, are they not? Obviously a little more realistic than Lego though! I like it! Kind of want one now.
  13. For me, it would have to be: 1. This one. 2. Top 5 Albums 3. Top 5 Movies 4. Top 5 TV Shows 5. Top 5 Builds. But only because no one has really jumped on that one yet.
  14. I think a lot of the issues with the build were of my own making. Pitfalls I can avoid next time. Still, the kit isn't without it's faults. But it's not bad enough to deter me from thinking about another.
  15. To add to Mike's point. We have no issues a confederate flag, provided it's used to complete an accurate model. As an example. Say someone builds a WW2 German tank. Looks amazing, beautiful weathering, has a swastika on it. For accuracy, we'd let it slide. And the in the thread that follows, someone posts a big swastika. And then someone follows that by posting "Arbeit macht frei ." Is that okay? Everyone cool with that? This is no different. The flag offends many, and beyond the scope of accurate models, it is not allowed here. And if that distinction offends you, then maybe this isn't the place for you.
  16. Now that Issue 221 has been released and is arriving in mailboxes, I can post about this one. This one took way longer than planned, for all kinds of reasons. One of them related to the kit itself. It was missing half of the glass, and the little bag that held the RAM logo for the front grille and the rear view mirror. A&N basically told me I lost the parts because they couldn't have possibly missed putting them in the box. Nice. But they would ship the parts anyway if I paid for shipping. So $6 and 6 weeks later, some parts arrived and that issue was solved. But I finished it, and learned a lot. Like how I'm not overly excited about building another one of these! I had a bugger of a time with a couple of aspects of assembly. The biggest issue being getting the interior into the body. It is much wider than the opening, and if you follow the instructions, then "folding" it into the body isn't easy. I thought I was going to break it in half while trying to accomplish that. Luckily, it eventually went in. I also had issues wit the windshield. This is more of a "lack of experience" issue. Trimming and making the windshield fit was tough for me. As you can see...best viewed from afar. The details of this kit are great in some areas, a little off in others. First, I added the 6.4L Hemi engine. I think the engine is bigger than 1/24 scale. It seems much larger than it should be. Second, the wheels look great, but are a little smaller than they should be. Tires are good, but I went with a set of aftermarket tires that were closer to the real truck. Third, the dash is shaped wrong. The screen should be more upright. Having said that, the front end, with the winch and bumper details, the suspension, the skid plates, door panels...all were excellent and very accurate. Body dimensions were spot on as well. Overall though, it turned out okay. Not my proudest work though. Part of me wants to pick up another and build it again. I know I could do better now. And I'd 3D print my own tires and engine. Anyway, some pics...
  17. I was thinking the US version, but I love them both!
  18. I've never seen this kit before. You did an excellent job!
  19. I believe our own Tim K beat him to it, and had his build of this trailer in the last issue of MCM, #220!
  20. That's pretty awesome! I was 1 month old when you had your pic taken.
  21. I think you did a really good job matching the interior colour scheme.
