  1. Yeah, it's definitely more grey than blue. I like it, but not as much as I like Grabber Blue. Or Race Red. I'm a big fan of what I call "crayon colours" on performance cars.
  2. Car people can tell the difference with these three, but for the average person who doesn't know cars? They see three old cars with round headlights, two doors, pointy wing things on the back (because the average Joe doesn't know about fins), a chrome thing on the hood, etc. Cars will always be reflective of the time they were built. There's a reason most cars from the 40s, 50s, 60, 70s, 80s or whenever will share very similar styling cues and colours. There are always exceptions, and are always manufacturers taking a chance with something different, but for the most part, trends are followed.
  3. Nice! Our first 2024 Mustang here at the dealership will be a Dark Horse in Vapor Blue. Order is in, but hasn't been scheduled yet.
  4. I didn't see it mentioned yet, but I mourn the loss of the in-car CD player. I still buy CDs, I still play them at home. When I bought my 99 Tahoe a few years ago, the first thing I did was upgrade the stereo, made sure it had a working CD player. Of course, the boy has sort of comandeered it, so now it's basically his truck, and he never uses the CD player. I've already bought a new head unit for my daughter's first car. And we haven't even picked one out or bought one yet!
  5. Interesting location. That patina'd Suburban on the wide white walls is awesome. I want that in my garage.
  6. NAIT is the local technical college. A lot of trades, plus a large business program too. My boy starts there in the fall. Anyway, the auto body shop held a car show today, so we checked it out. Was stunned to see an Alpine there. The El Camino was stunning.
  7. Farmers' Days this weekend here in my small town. So of course, that means a parade! Here are the automotive highlights. My company put a few cars in. That's my boss in the new Bronco.
  8. All the time. Probably why I have a dozen kits on the go at any given time! And there are many days that, like Bill, I just don't feel like hitting the bench.
  9. Just a quick reminder that political humour falls under the "no politics" rule. Carry on...
  10. Nah, it's staying civil, so no need to shut things down.
  11. There's a good video floating around of a (if I recall correctly) late 50s Chev Impala or Malibu and an early 2000s Malibu or Impala, doing the offset front crash into each other. The 50s car did not win. EDIT: found it.
  12. It's cool that as a dealership, we still get customers bringing their classics in for service work. 1967 Mustang, in for an alignment and inspection.
  13. Visited my buddy's shop this morning. I posted this one earlier in this thread. Truck now has some goofy wheels on it.
  14. Always thought these were odd looking. I think your open top version will be better proportioned, and better looking.
  15. I tuned in and out for the whole thing. A few thoughts. 1. people need to calm down about Jewel's anthem. 2. does a pre-race ceremony need to take an hour? 3. was a mostly entertaining race 4. the last 15 laps were ridiculous. Three red flags in 10 laps? 5. Should not have finished the way it did. I can't believe I'm actually agreeing with NASCAR, in that a race should finish with two laps of green racing, regardless of how long it takes to get there. 6. Interesting that the telecast is still blacked out to residents in the Indianapolis area.
  16. Very cool!! I really enjoy the collections that cover vehicles of all types, as opposed to ones focused on a particular brand or style. Interesting restaurant too! Not sure I'd want to be eating underneath a 55 year old Ford though. "Umm...these fries are a little oily."
  17. In our weekly staff meetings, this has come up many times. And there are some definite benefits to having payment options available. And what would it look like? Just a donation, like a charity? A one time thing, or monthly, like a Patreon or something? Would people get anything for their contribution? Would there be a normal, free membership like we all have now and then a premier membership that unlocks content or allows other things? How any levels of membership do we want? Etc. And on the negative side, would people that contribute monetarily expect to be involved in how things are run? Would it turn into a class system? Where the people who pay feel they're better than the non-payers? Paying for the blue checkmark, so to speak, seems like a bad idea for the site. But ultimately, regardless of the many pros and many cons, at this time we simply do not WANT to charge anyone for content or the use of the site. Models and supplies can get expensive, and with many of the users of the site/forum being older and on fixed incomes, we just don't want to go there. Will that change at some point in the future? Will we eventually get to the point where we need to charge in some way? Possibly, maybe. But for now and the foreseeable future, the site and forum will be free to all users.
  18. I enjoy playing with these people. We got a call a couple of months back, I pick up, and didn't give them a chance to say anything. I just starting talking and panicking. "Look, I got rid of the body, but the carpet is done. I can't get the blood out. You need to figure this out because we are not going back to jail." They mumbled something and said, "wrong number" and hung up. Or when the JW knock on the front door. They're just doing their thing, so I'm not a jerk to them. I just tell them I'm spiritually satisfied, and they usually just look at each other and say thanks, then leave.
  19. Saw this super clean Z outside my daughter's dance school this morning. I'm not big on the 2+2 body, but this one was really clean.
  20. Imagine ordering a Lyft or Uber and that rolls up! I'd be right into it!
  21. I get the text scams all the time. "Amazon" is the main culprit, along with a couple of banks I've never used.
  22. I had that exact poster on my wall growing up. I think your build looks great!
  23. https://www.digitaltaxidermy.co.uk/scale-converters I use this link for conversions.
  24. My daughter turns 16 this summer, and is going to need a car. And I have a lead on a good candidate, so I might have another VW project in the driveway soon. Going to have a look tomorrow.
