Artists that should be in the Rock n' Roll Hall of fame.
iamsuperdan replied to Mike C.'s topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Lolz. I've listened to at least half of those bands in the past week! Going to see Big Wreck in November. Saw Aldo Nova a couple of weeks ago. Skinny Puppy should be up for the RRHOF. Not massive album sales, but hugely influential in the industrial scene. Arguably as big an impact as Nine Inch Nails, who were inducted a couple of years ago. -

Cool! I think a bench seat would better suit it. -
Some background. The entire city of Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories has been evacuated due to massive forest fires. It's crazy. So the evacuees are making their way here to Alberta. The Edmonton area will have thousands of these people spending some time here. Can't imagine what this would be like. Having to evacuate, not knowing if you would have a home anymore. Crazy. The Edmonton Elks are our CFL football team. They currently have the dubious honour of being the professional sports team, IN ANY SPORT EVER, with the longest at home losing streak. We haven't won a game at home since 2019. Won our first game of the season over the weekend. Season is half over right now. I don't think we won a game at all last season. Then I see this headline in today's paper, and I chuckled a little. Haven't these people suffered enough? I mean really.

Artists that should be in the Rock n' Roll Hall of fame.
iamsuperdan replied to Mike C.'s topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Officially, RRHOF induction is based on... "Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record. Criteria include the influence and significance of the artists' contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll." So album sales technically don't enter into it, but it kind of goes hand in hand with the above. So really, the biggest factor is the artists' impact on music as a whole. Have they influenced others in a significant manner? Did their arrival change anything? There are some bands that are hugely popular, that I love, but they're not in. And rightfully so. Def Leppard for one. Huge sales, awesome band, but did their music really change or influence the music that came after? Not really. Then you see a band like Metallica, or Depeche Mode. Huge sales, and their arrival on the music scene changed their respective genres of music. So 100% should be in there. In the case of Depeche Mode though, this is where the line gets blurry. Are they a "rock" band? What constitutes "rock" music? DM aren't a rock band per se, even though they have a bit of that rock attitude. Should Dolly Parton be in the Rock Hall of Fame? Hugely successful, massively influential on future artists, but not even close to being a rock performer. She should absolutely be in a Hall of Fame of some kind, but the Rock one? I don't think so. -
Was looking at some old pics last night and came across this. 12 years ago yesterday, I won Best of Class in a VW show. THat's my 93 Passat GLX wagon. VR6 Manual transmission Very large turbo Porsche D90 wheels full Borla exhaust coilover suspension bunch of other stuff. I kinda miss this one.

Stunning as always! I still think your photos are amazing. The lighting is perfect. Just makes everything that much more realistic.

And that, my friend, is what this hobby is all about! Hello and welcome from the province next door!

Iron Maiden Joy Division/New Order How those two aren't in yet is beyond my comprehension. -
I don't like spiders, but I pretty much leave them alone...until they get into my space. such as hanging out right by the front door. Then we do battle.

Hydrogen powered truck
iamsuperdan replied to Scott8950's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think the only downside to hydrogen right now is that there is almost zero infrastructure to support it. It will come in time, but right now? Nope. In the province of Alberta, where I live, our first hydrogen station is due to open...in 2025. As usual, Europe is further ahead with this sort of thing. I wonder how hard it would be to retrofit an older car to run on hydrogen. Could it be done? Remember when propane conversions were big business? Convert your gas car or truck to propane. If our gas cars and trucks could be converted to hydrogen, that would be huge. -

SIXTIES STYLE CAMPING TRAILER
iamsuperdan replied to khier's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Would look at home behind a Beetle or some other European car! I dig it. -
Six months ago, it was a totally different story. Almost all dealers still had a wait list, and a lot of dealers were doing markups over MSRP. But Ford got their poop in a group, and the supply chain issues disappeared, so production and supply are back to normal. We got a release this morning regarding 2024 production. Price is going up from $100 to $5430 CDN, depending on the trim level. Most increases are around $1300 or so. Bronco Raptor now starts at $114k CDN. Ooof!

My copy arrived in yesterday's mail.

What did you see on the road today?
iamsuperdan replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Those are the "Mustang HP Performance Pack" wheels from Ford Performance line of accessories. -
The order bank for the 2024 models opened on July 25th. Every dealer is different. Around here, some dealers were just automatically marking up everything they had. An extra $5k on a Bronco Sport? A $10k markup on a Transit, Bronco, Super Duty? Yup. It was happening. We never played that game, because people will remember who tried to take advantage of a crappy situation over the past few years. Once the 2024s go into production and start arriving, then yes, you should get a deal on remaining 2023 models. If there are any left around. Personally, I'd factory order exactly what I wanted. The soft top is leak-free for sure, but the Bronco is not exactly a quiet vehicle. Like the Wrangler, there's wind noise and tire noise o' plenty. It doesn't bother me, because I don't get into one of these expecting a Lincoln-like experience! Some people though have traded out because they thought a Bronco would be fun, then they realize it's no as quiet or smooth as an Explorer.

Maybe it's different here in Canada. We have normal allocation now. That initial "gotta have it" rush is over, and I can place an order today with no wait list. Normally, I'd say it would be a late September build, with arrival in October. But we're at that model year switchover. Orders placed now will be 2024 models. Order bank opened in July, production should start in (I believe) October. So order now, we'd have a 2024 here before Christmas. I have two Bronco 4 doors in stock now. Both are Wildtrak 4dr with soft top. The black one we added a set of Ford Performance wheels, and then colour matched the emblems in the same bronze colour. Looks awesome. Dealers here stopped paying the "over MSRP" game several months ago on the Bronco. We're actually discounting off MSRP a little. And Ford have lowered interest rates from the nonsense we had a couple of months ago. Auto world is slowly getting back to normal. And like Craig said above, I'd factory order for sure. These things aren't cheap, so you should get the "right" Bronco, not the "right now" Bronco.

All the risque jokes and comments running through your mind right now? Those are from me. Happy birthday!

I'm a fleet sales manager at a Ford store, so have a little first hand knowledge of the Bronco. Ordering them is a challenge. The 2dr has 13 different trim levels. The 4dr has 14 trim levels. Despite that, it can still be tricky to get all of the equipment you want, without getting a bunch of stuff you don't need. The Sasquatch package is (in my mind) a must have. It gives you a beadlock capable wheels on 35" tires, locking axles front & rear, a suspenison lift of about 2", better shocks, wider fender flares, higher axle ratio, and some cool decals. Sasquatch package not available on Big Bend, but you do get the same size tires. The tops are removeable. It comes standard with the soft top, and you have the option of switching to a hard top or getting dual tops. Swapping the tops is easy enough, but not as easy as it is on a Jeep Wrangler. If you have specific requirements, feel free to shoot me a message and I can help guide you through the options and trim levels.

Mustang wagon did exist...
iamsuperdan replied to BlackSheep214's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No, that white one with red stripes and a Mustang II front clip was a Pinto. The ones I posted are Fox body Fairmonts. All are "mustang wagons."
