You're right! Clearcoating some of those parts that normally wouldn't get cleared definitely helps keep those details safe! I also find using a matte clear gives engine bays a little more realism, as not everything is always shiny under there.

Best Adhesive for Windscreens?

I've been pretty happy with the Micro Krystal Klear. -
Great looking build!

I printed those same wheels! Not because I'm a huge KB fan, but because they're just a nice design. no idea what I'll use them for though. I'm digging your e-tron in white.

My procedure went well and I'm home resting. I don't think I mentioned it around here much. But 3 years ago I had brain surgery. 8 hour procedure to remove a golfball-sized acoustic neuroma. translabyrinthine surgery. Was in hospital for a week, then two months off work for recovery and physio. Every 6 months since, I get an MRI done. Well, last September, the MRI turned up something. The remnants of my AN had grown slightly, so something needed to be done. Had a couple of consults with the neurosurgeon, and the end result was that yesterday I went in had had the Gamma Knife procedure done. Bolted my head into a metal frame, MRI done, consult and math between two teams in two hospitals, then the gamma knife. Home by supper. Now resting for a couple of days and back to work on Monday. Feeling tired (but not sleepy) and have a sore head, mainly from the screws. All normal side effects. Another MRI booked for next September. Pre-procedure

Web-based music streaming services
iamsuperdan replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I use two. Spotify of course being the big one. I pay for the Premium tier, and I love it. I rarely listen to anything else when driving. Unlimited playlists, and I almost never get stumped when searching for artists I like. The other is Gimme Metal. www.gimmemetal.com It's free, and it's all metal. I still have my SiriusXM subscriptions for home and in my old Tahoe. There are a few stations we like . And I can stream it through the app as well. And I still buy CDs. -
A new . . . . Hornet?!
iamsuperdan replied to peteski's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nah, as long as they keep pumping out Ram trucks and Jeeps, Stellantis won't be going anywhere anytime soon. -
A new . . . . Hornet?!
iamsuperdan replied to peteski's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yup! It was a lot easier and a lot cheaper for GM to license the Toyota Matric and slap a Pontiac badge on it, than it would have be to design a compact car that could compete with Toyota or Honda. Might as well rebadge the leader! Anyway... 285hp Turbo 4-cylinder hybrid all-wheel drive Brembo brakes Koni suspension 20" wheels 14-speaker Harmon Kardon stereo with Android Auto Alcantara & leather interior heated seats, heated steering wheel LED headlights That sounds pretty good to me. -

Galaxie trailer. Has anyone biult one?
iamsuperdan replied to 426 pack's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Would like to see all of their kits again. I built a trailer, still have a couple of unbuilt trailers. And like a fool, I traded away a couple of the car kits a few years ago. Getting rid of the '48 delivery wagon in particular was a dumb move by me. -

Model building versus other hobbies
iamsuperdan replied to Sledsel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Every hobby has its "elitists." Those who feel their way is vastly superior to that of the others. We see it around here every now and then. I especially notice it with real cars, and model cars. Mainly because those are the hobbies I pay attention to. That and guitar. I don't bother with guitar forums or discussion groups at all anymore. Too much nonsense and drama. Too much brand loyalty. Too many closed minds. But for every donkey, there's a handful of genuinely good people. -
A new . . . . Hornet?!
iamsuperdan replied to peteski's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
These threads always make me chuckle. New car is announced, people pile on to criticize. I've seen some commenters' posts in the "what do you drive" thread. Pot Kettle Black Cue the people defending their vehicle choices. -
Modern pickups. Interest?

rear view installing on windshield
iamsuperdan replied to bummer666's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Try applying a small bit of glue to the rear view mirror. Maybe put glue on a toothpick, then use the toothpick to dab a little on the mirror. Then use tweezers to very carefully place it. you don't need a lot of glue, because the mirror will never get touched or handled. -
I'd like to see some 1/24 F1 kits. I have a few of the Revell kits from a few years back. Red Bull, Mercedes. Plus one of the Villeneuve WIlliams from a decade or so ago. Something current would be awesome. The Alpha Models cars look really good, but I'd prefer to stick with 1/24. I've recently found a designer on Cults3D that sells the files for modern F1 cars, and am working on scaling it down to print. It gets tough though for two reasons. First, some of the wings and aero can get very thin and delicate. Second, no decals. Would need to make my own decals. I downloaded Lewis' 2021 Mercedes, and have done some printing on it. Definitely to play with printer settings to see if I can make my prints better. And then figure out the decal situation. Technically, scaling up to 1/12 should be no problem. WOuld solve the issue of thin or delicate parts.

1025 hp on pump gas. 0-60mph in 1.66 seconds Quarter mile in 8.91 Comes on drag radials from factory. I love that Stellantis does this wacky stuff, and has been doing crazy fun vehicles for decades now, while the others get all serious. Speaking of wacky... $131k CDN to start. Was speaking today with a friend who owns a big Chrysler store here. They're getting a handful of these cars, probably 5. He's taking the first one, of course. But the others are currently getting bids, and they have three people - legit, verified, repeat clients - right now willing to drop over $200k CDN just to get one.
