A couple of my coworkers were discussing horseracing today I learned that one of them actually breeds and trains racehorses. Anyway, they didn't like it when I referred to horseracing as "Amish Nascar."

I was kind of shocked at myself to be honest.

Correct. If two people want to make their own arrangements and buy/sell through PM, then they are free to do so.

Quiet morning at work, so I stepped out and stocked up on paint. Grabbed a pile of Tamiya product; both jars and sprays. And a couple of BSI CA glues. Should last me for a little while. Was impressed with myself. Didn't see any kits that immediately jumped out as a must have purchase, so didn't actually add to the stash today.

It has been so good. Learning a lot about the realities of EV, and it's actually even easier than I thought. For example, one of the things I was against with EVs was roadtripping. I used to think to myself, well I'm going to need to stop for an hour to charge up, and a three hour trip is now a 4 or 5 hour trip! Well not so much. Did our usual drive to the mountains. Typically a 3.5 hr trip. Took about 20 minutes longer than usual. Because much like a gas engine, you don't necessarily need to "fill the tank" every time. https://abetterrouteplanner.com/ Has an app. Enter what you drive, where you're starting from, how much juice you have, where you're going, and how much charge you want left when you get there. It maps it out. Tells you where the chargers are, whether they're in use or not, how long you need to stop for. The Ford Pass app does a lot of that too. So easy. A full charge gives me around 390km of range. And of course, the harder you drive, the more "fuel" you use. I charge twice a week. Monday morning will basically last all week. Friday charge will get me through the weekend with plenty of range to spare. Top it off Monday AM, and I'm good for the week. But what most people want to know is how it drives. I leave it in Unbridled mode. Holy cow. This car is a beast. It's crazy fast, and the handling is awesome. In a lot of ways, I'm reminded of when I worked for Porsche. It's just so much fun to drive. Yes, I still prefer a manual transmission, and yes, a V8 will always sound better. But this thing is fun. It also has "race mode." When the charge and temps are right, you can enter Unbridled Extend, which will turn off all of the traction assists and allow you to kick the back end out in the corners and do a little drifting. It's pretty awesome. Things I don't like. 1. the full glass roof needs some sort of retractable sunshade, like my truck has. It's not horrible, but it would be nice. 2. the pricing. Ford just announced that the 2023 model has an MSRP almost $9k less than 2022. I got a heck of a deal, but still. 3. the rear hatch switch/handle is too low. 4. ventilated seats would be nice.

Well, the weather sucked, but I hit up a carshow yesterday. Was part of an annual tradeshow and is normally really well attended. But not so much this year. Cold, overcast, windy. Most entrants bailed and didn't show up, and those who did show up took off early. And the spectators barely came out, they were inside and the tradeshow booths where it was warm. Some interesting stuff though. My dealership was a sponsor, so we had a display. Too windy for our usual canopy/tent thing. Figured I'd throw my car in there too. Got me a good parking spot for the show.

ClearlyScale update *
iamsuperdan replied to mademan's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I met up with Jeremy in March of last year. Can't get too into it, but Clearly Scale is 100% closed and will not be coming back. He's gone MIA since I last saw him with no responses to texts or emails, and haven't had any sort of updates from anyone on how he's doing, including from his sister. -
Moebius Wrecker Truck Announcement
iamsuperdan replied to Erik Solie's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I'll be getting one of these for sure. Oh, and welcome to the board Erik! And thanks for looking after my warped parts issues last year. Excellent customer service! -
I've been looking for a T3 van for ages. Super happy Revell has finally reissued it. That Magnum van has been impossible to find, and I've been wanted to build it to go with the Magnum Ferrari kit I have. Just like you did! Awesome work on the van. Paint looks perfect.

What did you see on the road today?

We have a local gem of a used car lot. It's all consignment, and it's all classics. Lots of custom cars and trucks, hot rods, muscle, you name it. So we were driving past yesterday, and something caught my eye. Kind of thinking about this one. 1979 Ranchero. Needs some bodywork, but it's mechanically sound. Rockers are pretty solid, underside looks good, The rear quarters and front fenders are toast, everything else is surface rust. Interior pretty clean. Has a 351 under the hood. Starts and runs really well. Hmm... He also has this beast of a Cougar. Which I also dig. The Mustang in the background would make a great project. -
I'm going to call this a good thing. Was a little warm when I got in the car yesterday to head home. That's about 107.5 F. Had been parked in the sun for about an hour. Actual temp was 29 C. Spring weather is unusually warm here for this time of year. And we'll take it.

I'm with TJ above. I find it relaxing, even when it's frustrating. And when I sit at the bench in the garage, no one bothers me, I can just unplug from everything and build.

She loved it! She's 15 and this was her first general admission show. We went out on the floor for the openers, Bullet For My Valentine, but she wanted the option of sitting during Megadeth. Which my middle aged been at work all day body appreciated! I've never pushed my musical tastes on the kids, but both of them are big fans of the heavy stuff!

Yesterday was a good day. Busy at work, delivered bunch of new trucks to a new client. And it looks like myself and our other fleet manager are now the EV division here at the dealership too. Mainly because we're pretty much the only ones selling any EVs. And Ford is really focusing on commercial fleets and electrification, so it's a good fit. More importantly than all of that though, took my daughter to see Megadeth last night. First saw them back in 1991 with Testament and Judas Priest. And last night's show was just as good.

There's a reason all of our vehicles have dashcams.
