Agree to disagree. ? I totally see some similarities between the new and the old. More than the 350/370 Z anyway.
-
I saw one of these in person this spring. It had mfg plates on it, and appeared to be driving to the Nissan dealer down the street from my office. In person, it is a good looking car, definitely more in common with the Z of old than any of the 350 or 370z from the past 20 years or so.

Easy fix...just buy two!

If they're of your own design, I'd say you are welcome to post a link.

The no selling rule has always been there, so that's probably not effecting things much. I'm sure it deters a few, and that's fine. Those above who mentioned postage may also be on to something. I know sending things between Canada and the US has been terrible over the past year or so. It's not the costs so much, as it is the delays. I've had stuff arrive from Europe in under a week, yet some things coming form the US, literally a 10 hour drive from my house, are taking 2-3 weeks or more. Anyway, don't be too concerned, I still think it's just a summer lull, and come fall, there will be more. I'll be putting some things up soon. Just trying to organize and inventory some items.

Couple of recent trends I've noticed and dislike a great deal. So many trucks here doing this. Including half of the techs here at work. 1. windshield tint. people putting a tinted band at the bottom of their windshield and one at the top. Leaving a small band across the middle that is untinted. 2. trucks will ridiculously wide wheels. Their wheel bearings must be loving it. Here's a random internet pic that shows both.

I think what it comes down to is that at the end of the day, we're all complaining about trivial things. We're pretty lucky in that regard. It's just that old stereotype rearing its head. That the older generations always complain about the younger generations. I'm sure my grandparents did it when my parents were young, my parents did it to me, I'm complaining about kids today. And really, none of it matters. Car colours, trends, footprints on the lawn, it's all trivial. I can't speak for others, but for myself, my yelling at clouds comments are a Simpsons reference and ALWAYS done in jest and humour.

All fixed. ?

AMT have done a couple of 70s Ford vans recently. It's basically the same kit with different decals. The only Ford Transit I know of is the old ESCI kit, recently re-issued as an Italeri kit. Represents an 84-85 cargo van. Esci did three versions. Same kit, different colours. Italeri currently have two versions. It's simple, but I really like this kit.

There is an inherit problem with the satin finish paints jobs. They're much harder to care for. A good friend of mine is a manager with the local Mercedes dealer. They have a satin metallic grey that is beautiful to look at. Costs over $10k CDN. But, it stains. You get bug guts on it, and it will stain. And if you try to scrubs the bugs off, you'll get a small polished spot where the bug used to be. You cannot polish or rub the paint too much. And good luck matching it should you need to do any repainting. And forget about applying that clear stoneguard film to it. The surface is not smooth, so it won't stick properly, plus it's a totally different texture. As for paint colours, that has always been a trend. In the 60s there were pastels and non-metallic colours. Coral Red, Mint Green, etc. In the 70s were metallics. greens, yellows, lots of brown. Plus matching interiors. In the 80s, it was colour matching everything and loud neon graphics. In the 90s, it was purples, teals In the early 00s, silvers and greys took over Now, non-metallics are back. Plus with the ease of wrapping a vehicle, anything goes now. Give it time, something new or recycled will come along. And the old men will yell at the clouds again. And the cycle continues. As for those lamenting the primer grey that is popular now. Along with the other non-metallic boring colours. What's old is new again. Still ugly colours?

The Baillon Collection at Rétromobile
iamsuperdan replied to 89AKurt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Although I think every single one of those cars needs to be saved and restored, I really like the way those were presented. Uncleaned, darker lighting. From a purely artistic point of view, that was incredibly cool.- 12 replies

Ford had Avalanche Grey on the Raptor a couple of years ago. I loved it. So as soon as I saw it was back, that settled it. I almost went with Area 51 Blue, but you can't get it with the Black package and I really wanted that. In 1992, I had a 1986 Hyundai Stellar in sort of a Pewter/Champagne colour. I was 18, and put a set of white double wiper blades it it. With the matching white wiper arm boot. Lasted a month or so, before I got fed up with not being able to see in the rain! Yup, in some states, Carolina Squat has been made illegal. Google or YouTube that nonsense. Holy moly. ?

Ehh, to each their own. Personally I hate chrome. I strongly dislike any kind of wood on an interior. And I don't like stripes or graphics much. Even the "classic" stripes on a Cobra or Camaro. And I much prefer the plain, non-metallic paint. I do like dark wheels though. Made sure my current truck had the Sport Appearance package, which eliminates all exterior brightwork, and has the dark grey wheels. And it's plain white. And because I typically get a new truck every year, I've already ordered myself a 2023 F150. Will have the Black Appearance package, which includes black wheels. And it's Avalanche Grey in colour, which looks like clearcoated primer. ?

Last I saw, McDavid was driving around in a new black F150, but I'm going to assume he has something a little fancier! I actually haven't heard anything about Draisitl though. Back in the day, I worked for the local BMW dealer, and we had Georges Laraque (M5, then a Z8,) Tommy Salo (M5,) Glen Sather (M5,) When I left BMW and started selling Porsches, I was working with Steve Staos (Cayenne Turbo) and Georges Laraque, also a Cayenne Turbo.

I'll second Magic Box Hobbies. I've been there a couple of times and the selection is fantastic. -
Was thinking about it, and I've been going camping there for 30 years now. May 92 was my first trip. Considering buying some land in the Hamlet of Cadomin. Would be a great place to set up a small cabin or something.

Quick camping trip over the weekend. Cadomin, AB Middle of nowhere. No tourists. Iffy cellphone coverage at best. Good some hiking in, got some relaxing in. Perfect. And the hybrid is getting better. Will sometimes do highways speeds in electric mode. 900km to a tank, roughly 200km of that in electric mode.

Wifey's Volvo developed a very sudden and very major oil leak. I anticipated something horrific and expensive. Turned out to be simple enough for me to fix, and it was under $200 CDN. SO that was a pleasant surprise. Also cleaned out our organic cart and garbage can last night. Fully expected to get covered in the stinky gross residue of 4 months of organic waste all over me. Weekly pickup, but I only clean it when it starts to smell. Managed to not splash myself at all.

What Did You Get Today? (Not Model Related)
iamsuperdan replied to LOBBS's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Exciting times. Got a new Oil Trap/PVC system for wifey's Volvo. It start puking oil all over the garage floor earlier this week. PVC system was completely plugged. Luckily, cheap and easy fix.
