Now that is one cool looking plane. Just looks mean. I like it. -

Wow. I see a few of those I'd like to pick up. Great to see the SIlverado back. -
My Ramp truck arrived in yesterday's mail. I lucked out. Took everything out last night, and there are no issues with the kit at all. Hood, ramp pieces, frame, etc. No warping, no damage.

Yup! It's Ribfest this weekend, and they'll be doing technically three shows this weekend. Friday, July 22: Imports, JDM and Sport BikesSaturday, July 23: Hot Rods and ChoppersSunday, July 24: Classics and Restorations (Cars and Bikes) Interesting idea, splitting it up like that. We're heading down to Calgary on Saturday for the European Classic Car Meet.

Yay! 100% warp-free. The box is definitely full, but it didn't seem too jammed in there. I've had worse kits that's for sure. Hood, frame, all ramp parts are damage free. So that makes me happy.

I LOVE that VW Eurovan Winnebago. Brings me back to the 90s when I started working for a local VW dealer. So many of the VW faithful were so upset with the van. The Eurovan Westfalia was done for North America, and then they partnered with Winnebago. I can still hear the uproar! And that brown Dodge wagon. So much want.

Mine apparently arrived today. Will check it out this evening when I get home. Fingers crossed.

Actually, it would probably surprise you how small the number of suppliers actually is. Yes, there are still a ton of vendors, but the majority of things in modern cars come from the same suppliers. A company like Magna supplies everything from seat foam to body panels to computer systems and dozens of other components. And Magna supplies to Ford, GM, FCA (Chrysler,) BMW, Mercedes, Toyota, Tesla, VW group, etc. Bosch still provides electronics to just about everyone. As does Delco. We've had a chip shortage because there are only 2 or 3 active chip manufacturers in the world. And they're all in the same country. That's changing, but for decades, that's how it was. Back in 2012 or so, after the Japanese tsunami, there was a shortage of metallic paint that affected Ford, Toyota, GM, Nissan, Chrysler, and more. Ford trucks for a short time were only available in white, black, red, and silver. One factory in Japan supplied the metallic flakes used in automotive paint. And it went offline. This is part of the reason so many brands have had supply chain issues over the past two years. When you put all of your eggs in one basket, and then there's a problem with that basket...

Very cool info. These OBS GM trucks are my all time favourite trucks. I have a couple dozen of these kits in the stash, including a couple of the Sportsides. That DoT themed truck is great. -
My International Transtar CO-4070A

Nice job! I went with green on my engine too. According to the literature I found, only the turbo engines were red. The non-turbos were green. And seeing as how this one does not have a turbo... Anyway, I like it. The shortened frame definitely suits the truck. I should have done that too. -
Favorite Obscure or Discovered Music Album

I've recently rediscovered Manic Street Preachers. UK band, came out in the early 90s. Crazy story with the disappearance of their guitarist/lyricist, Richey Edwards, in 94. -

The problem is, how do people learn more about these modelling icons? I'm under 50, have been modelling for 40 years, but have never heard of Bruce Owens before that obit thread. And to be honest, I hardly recognize any of the modelling icon names mentioned around here. Some incredible talent for sure, but not really well known, even within the hobby. How is one to learn of these people that have contributed to the hobby? I personally would rather see more historical type threads around here, instead of obits. Anyway, this thread is way off topic now, so I'll stop.

Bingo. Everyone MENTIONED. No posters have been mentioned in this thread. The only people mentioned have been the celebrities/famous people.
-
Good grief. Turning a memorial post into an argument. Look, although you people may not like them, these people are famous and are celebrities. A person doesn't require talent or skills to be a celebrity. Sometimes, they marry a celebrity. Sometimes they make a sex tape with a celebrity. Lots of people get famous and are just famous for being famous. I think everyone mentioned in this thread is a twit, but they are all famous celebrities. In the tabloids? Newspapers? Magazines? TV appearances? Common household names?
