  1. We are in a unique situation here, as we have a lot of storage space. That said, please reduce large files to a reasonable size. I generally use either 1024 or 1600 wide photos.
  2. Gary only resorted to starting this thread after I didn't respond to his message, as I was on vacation. Really nice of some of you guys to quickly pile on, thanks a lot (hope you guys can read the sarcasm there). I will point out to EVERYONE that, this thread would have been a good thread to read and not respond to.
  3. There is some sort of embedded security feature in the program that gets triggered. We do not know exactly what triggers it. The default response is the 404 Error. We have been trying for years to figure it out. We needed to upgrade the software (which has been done) so that the vendor will at least let us put in work tickets so that they can research it. We will let everyone know if we are ever given a reason/solution to this very frustrating problem.
  4. If you are going to post about Revell's demise, please provide proof. Otherwise, please do not stir the pot just to start controversy.
  5. Here's a link to a previous review.
  6. If they would just paint gray and send it out, no one would even notice it.
  7. Please remember that you cannot offer to buy or sell on this forum. If you feel you must break the rule, please do it via PM.
  8. I think this thread has run it;s course. Things are starting to get personal.
  9. Stop right there! Lets get back on track.....'66 Mustang.
  10. You guys are starting to veer onto the shoulder. Let's pull it back into the driving lane. Excessive use of memes tends to lead a thread in the wrong direction.
  11. Not low membership. We actually have a fairly large membership. If you are on the main forum page and scroll to the bottom, it will tell you how many people are online. When I just checked, it was 73 members and 157 guests. The guests can see most of the content, but cannot post comments. That is how the views can greatly outweigh the posted comments.
  12. A lot of views are from people who are not members of the forum and are not allowed to post.
  13. There are a lot of ways to look at this. If we try to build to other peoples high standards: 1) We may get better as builders. 2) We may never finish a model again. If we say "Nice Model": 1) We may be providing false praise. 2) We may be providing encouragement to build the next model (which helps us get better as builders) Polite, constructive criticism is generally accepted by most builders. Just remember, what you think is direct or straightforward criticism can come across as demeaning or condescending. Choose your words wisely. As Tom stated, we don't know everyone's situation. We do have quite a few builders with disabilities that still love to build models and share them with the rest of us. If you want to give encouragement, do so. If you want to provide tips or pointers, do so. If you don't want to give false praise, don't do it.
  14. I have disabled my Ad Blocker for this site and the ads are much fewer than they previously were.
  15. It wasn't an option or button, you had to go and edit the post and backspace or delete the photo away. It may not work now that we had to limit the amount of time a post could be edited.
  16. I think you would have to go to the individual posts and manually delete the photos. Forums like this depend on their content, like uploaded photos, so I think the software developers may have purposely made it difficult to delete them. We would rather you not delete photos that were uploaded to the server. We would like the photos to remain an integral part of the threads they are associated with. I think it is important to point out that this site is not a photo hosting site, like Fotki and Photo Bucket. It is setup to easily upload photos into our posts. While it may be possible to access the photos after they are uploaded, that is not what the storage space is supposed to be used for.
  17. I had to start running an AdBlocker. Previously, the ads on this site seemed to slow everything down for me. I can disable the blocker for this site to see if it is any better.
  18. Back to the original topic.... I only build for fun. Absolutely none of my builds are perfect, but they are all my best effort without getting too frustrated. Once I start getting frustrated with some aspect of my model, I walk away. I know I do not have the patience to put a lot of detail into a model, so I usually do not try. I will detail paint a few things here and there or try a multi-color paint job. I occasionally post my progress or completed models and am open to criticism. If someone posts something that I may not have tried or thought of, I may look into trying it out on a future build. Folks will also post suggestions that I know I will never try. I will just say thanks and (as Snake says) model on. I think it is a good trait when you can see the line between fun and work.
  19. That is the exact thing I took away from that story. Rivet counter and accurate builder are two different things to me. A rivet counter is an accurate builder that lacks people skills. We have lots of accurate builders here and very few rivet counters.
  20. The original listing ended and it got relisted. Then someone hit Buy It Now for $499.95
  21. Lets stay away from guns and politics and get back on track please.
  22. That is exactly how I ended up getting a can of Testors Dullcote. In the wrong slot and didn't double check the label. I have since found uses for it though.
  23. What happened with Modelhaus can happen with any of the other companies. If you see something you need, you might want to buy it. It might not be available tomorrow.
  24. I merged these threads.
