  1. I have wanted to get a telescope for several years. I want to take better, more detailed, photos of the moon. My wife keeps reminding me that I would only use it once or twice and walks me back from the brink. This is the best I have been able to get with my current camera and arsenal of lenses. I also live near Washington, DC so light pollution is a problem.
  2. If the stamp hobby was the same as the modeling hobby, folks would be telling you to lick it, stick it and mail it off. As I have gotten older, I can appreciate the fine details that are on these tiny stamps.
  3. Go to your profile page. Click on the bottom left corner of the profile photo and it will take you where you need to go. There are file size and dimension limits you must follow.
  4. Nicely done Dann.
  5. Dang it, now I have to find one of those Airfix Chargers. I bought individual display cases for any model I feel deserves it. I currently have one model in a case.
  6. Just a reminder. I know it will be difficult for some, but please keep politics out of this when posting.
  7. I have a simple 4'x8' layout that has the bed and track down. It has been that way for several years. I look at the wiring diagram and it all looks like ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics. One of these days I will get back under there and give it a go. I pickup building kits and rolling stock from time to time. Sure would be nice to start using it.
  8. I just looked it up and it is at an airfield about 1½ hours away from me. It will be there until Monday. Now to convince my wife.
  9. Sometimes it takes a few days for him to get back in touch with you.
  10. I have only seen one Challenger like that, I think it was a 3-speed manual. My new garage will be built in about a month. I will then start looking for a '71 'Cuda to put in it. It will have fender gills, rear wing, big engine, and a drop top. I want a driver more than a show car, so I may get lucky enough to get one at a reasonable price (probably not).
  11. Maybe he did something with it already, my pages are loading quicker than they have in months.
  12. It is scheduled for tonight.
  13. Is this the email you used? It was listed in another thread. He may not visit this board often, and if he has notifications turned off, he would not know that he has messages here. He may also have multiple emails. One used for signing up here and perhaps a "work" email. tihggh01@hotmail.com
  14. To keep things clear, you guys are now talking about 3 completely different cars. '65 AFX Dodge '70 T/A 'Cuda Top Fuel from unknown year. They are all going to have different requirements. Rule books, for the year and type of racing, are one of the best sources of information available (and an actual good use for the internet).
  15. They are recessed, but I think the trim rings project out ever so slightly. I think the green fender is more accurate. It has been a long time since I have had my hands on one though. A better may to explain it is, I think the vents and trim rings are smaller than the recess/hole so you can see the recess around the trim ring.
  16. We have had some extended power outages and the land line still worked. We are going to keep it as long as they offer it. I am in a somewhat rural area and cell coverage is weak and spotty.
  17. You would think that the model companies would make really nice versions of small blocks, big blocks and Hemis. They could include one engine in a kit and sell the others as engine packs. I guess they have done "research" and determined they would not sell as many complete car kits. I think a lot of folks would pay as much as $10 for a nice small block with optional intakes. Could do this for all the major car brands. Seems like the tire packs that are offered sell pretty well.
  18. If he refunded your money, I wouldn't call him a fraud. He might just be someone who didn't know what he was selling. I have run into a few of those in the past.
  19. I think we have all agreed that as soon as JC is done with this build, the new kit will be released.
  20. This is good advice. I agree with the Xuron cutters as well, I use them everyday. Everyone has their own preference for supplies. I like Tamiya paint and cement and find them easier (more forgiving) to use. I have been known to use Duplicolor primer and paint from my local auto parts store. I also use a lot of Stevens International sanding sticks. No need to rush out and buy all the expensive tools just yet. If you see a need for them later on, you can surely start buying them. Some folks paint better with plain old rattle cans than I can do with an airbrush. Once your hooked on model building (and you will get hooked), we can paint you toward some of the more costly items that make building a little easier.
  21. I was not there, but could see the smoke from my office about 20 miles away. I know people that lost family members in the Pentagon. I ended up working there, as a contractor, for a few years after 9/11. It is a shame that some folks relate 9/11 to the "aggravation" of having to be screened when going through the airport.
  22. Might want to see if Vallejo Paints has increased their MSRP. Seems like Hobby Lobby prices most of their items at MSRP. If so, I suspect prices will increase everywhere.
  23. Sorry to hear about your friend. I know how tough it can be. The memories of your friend will soon bring a smile to your day.
  24. My wife and I were saying the same thing this morning. If a reporter gets knocked off the seawall and into the water, he is as good as dead.
  25. Winter is coming! 4 feet of snow at a time and 40 mph winds to blow it around.
