  1. The function that let members delete the threads and posts has been removed. You can ask a moderator to remove threads if you want them taken down. There is often still good information in those threads, even if there are no photos to go along with them. The magazine does have a Facebook page.
  2. Amazon must have some weird packaging agreement with the carriers. I got a single 1/2 oz jar of embossing powder from Amazon that came loose in a 14"x12"x4" box.
  3. I have not had the chance to see it, but have heard about it from several people and it sounds impressive.
  4. Everyone has already given great advice. Since model cars are stationary subjects, the tripod will be your best friend. I use a wireless trigger on my camera when I shoot, so I do not have to use the camera's timer. The timer and remote triggers are just ways to get your hands off the camera before the photo is taken. I use my camera in aperture priority, set it to f36 and let the camera do the rest. I generally get pretty decent results without a lot of effort. Once you start getting nice photos, you will soon realize that you just picked up another hobby....photography.
  5. Gran Coupe convertibles are pretty rare. I owned a Gran Coupe...Coupe for a few years. Thanks for sharing these.
  6. Yes, both of the kits I bought had straight bodies. I had my LHS bring them in for me when they first came out. I mentioned that there were issues with warped bodies and the owner told me to go ahead and check before I left the store with them. He wasn't going to let me leave with them if they were warped.
  7. I hope you didn't take that wrong. I say it as someone who has a model (Porsche 959) sitting in view of my work bench that has a bad paint job and a fingerprint on the glass, to serve as a reminder of the time I should have stopped and started over.
  8. Every now and then you need to push through and see one all the way to the end, just so it drives home the fact you should have started over a long time ago From the photos it looks very nice. Looks good in blue. From what I have seen, I do not think any race car goes together without a little massaging and reshaping.
  9. A quick Google search and that looks like the one advertised in Hemmings for just south of $160k.
  10. Turned out great! I'd drive it.
  11. Started this one a few days ago. With the exception of the transfer case, it is all going together well. I had to trim a lot off of the transfer case so that the frame would sit tight against the bottom of the interior tub. First color (Tamiya Pearl Light Blue) of the 2-tone paint job went down very nice. Hope I don't mess up the second color (Model Master GTS Blue Pearl). You can see it on the sides of the interior tub. I find it is fairly easy to get runs with the Model Master rattle cans. Will need to keep repeating "Light Mist Coats" as I am spraying it. Not 100% sure what I am going to do with the interior. Will probably go with a blue that is in between the two shades of the exterior. I may also use the Pearl Light Blue (it is a nice looking color) with dark blue carpet.
  12. Bill - Go get it checked out. I fell and landed on my butt many years ago. Ended up breaking two vertebrae and didn't know it for about 10 years. I could have prevented a lot of my current pain if I had just went to the doctor then. I used to be young, tough and stupid. Now I am old, broken down and stupid.
  13. The link earlier in the thread was dead, so thought I would post this again. This is my favorite cover.
  14. Funny how we get a gut reaction when we see something like this car. My first thought was Pierce.
  15. Thanks Kevin. Will trade with bismarck again!
  16. Thanks Ricky. I am sure I will be trading with TarheelRick again in the future. Great trader!
  17. I intend to build most of the old kits that I have acquired. Some will wait until my skill level reaches that of Steve Guthmiller. I don't want to make a $200 glue bomb.
  18. Click on the search box in the upper right hand corner. A flyout menu will show up. Click on it and there will be several choices. You can click on Members and type the name you are looking for.
  19. Asking just under 60k http://www.oldtownautomobile.com/1955-chevy-belair-convertible/
  20. Your foil work looks very good. I am not looking forward to doing it the ones that i am building. Did you take any photos of the interior before you installed it?
  21. Thanks for the kind words. I really like the color combination. There is a 1:1 almost identical to this model that is for sale in my town.
  22. Photobucket used to be free, we all see what happened there.
  23. Spent about a year and half on this one. Whenever something didn't go well, I would step away from the model. I did not want to rush things. A lot of little things could have been done better, but overall I am pleased with how this one turned out. Exterior is Harvest Gold & India Ivory. Interior is Neptune Green & Sea Mist Green. Paint is from MCW.
  24. Finished!!
  25. I have not heard back from Dave if he is still trying to do the update this weekend. He should post an announcement as to when he will give it a go. It takes a few hours once he starts.
