This is good advice. I agree with the Xuron cutters as well, I use them everyday. Everyone has their own preference for supplies. I like Tamiya paint and cement and find them easier (more forgiving) to use. I have been known to use Duplicolor primer and paint from my local auto parts store. I also use a lot of Stevens International sanding sticks. No need to rush out and buy all the expensive tools just yet. If you see a need for them later on, you can surely start buying them. Some folks paint better with plain old rattle cans than I can do with an airbrush. Once your hooked on model building (and you will get hooked), we can paint you toward some of the more costly items that make building a little easier.
I was not there, but could see the smoke from my office about 20 miles away. I know people that lost family members in the Pentagon. I ended up working there, as a contractor, for a few years after 9/11. It is a shame that some folks relate 9/11 to the "aggravation" of having to be screened when going through the airport.
Might want to see if Vallejo Paints has increased their MSRP. Seems like Hobby Lobby prices most of their items at MSRP. If so, I suspect prices will increase everywhere.
I will assume that if you do not wear gloves, then you do not wear a respirator. Both should be required when spraying paint. I wear both of mine and end up sweaty, but healthy, when finished.
The first update had problems and did not work as planned, so it was rolled back. Dave just recently got the initial problems worked out (hopefully) and is trying to come up with the free time to try it again.
There has not been a recent update. Dave will announce it when it happens or you will notice that the site is offline for the better part of a day.
Peter is probably referring to an update that happened before I came on board about 1½ years ago.
Did not show up, only see the links. I Right-Click on the full size image in Fotki, select copy image. Then I go to my post, Right-Click and paste it in there. May not be the "official" way to do it, but it sure is quick and easy.
I had to explain parallel and perpendicular to a guy once. I used cars as an analogy. "You are parallel when driving side by side down the highway. You are perpendicular when that son of a gun ran a stop sign and T-boned you." I agree, lack of common sense causes a lot of problems. I know a lot of book smart folks that don't understand some of the simple, everyday, things that happen in life. Funny and sad at the same time.
Hobbylinc is slow to ship but they have weekly specials and have good prices. MegaHobby.com gets an aweful lot of my money and offers free shipping on orders over $100. I usually get my orders in 2-3 days.
While it is not written in stone anywhere, it is generally considered good etiquette to avoid posting a bunch of photos in another members Under Glass thread unless asked to do so. It can take away from the OP's thread. As you can see, it is easy to derail/hijack a thread.
That is not entirely true. I have access to most of Harry's model photos and because I was not the account holder, I could not see the photos. I only saw the "Upgrade" image and this was directly on Photobucket. Now that there is a fix, I have been transferring photos since Sunday morning.
