Glad you were able to carry through to the end and share it with us. The color scheme is unexpected but grows on you as one progresses through the photo. Nice.

ANY REVIEWS? ACADEMY 1961 FERARRI 350 GT CALIFORNIA
Gramps46 replied to cooltoys1's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Jay, do you think the Academy kit is the same as the Italeri-Testors kit. If so then it is a pretty nice kit. -
Very interesting comparison, thanks for taking the time to post it. Personal opinion If I may, putting the side boards up help to focus the viewer.

Oh yes, looking mighty fine.

Thanks for the offer Randy but I think I will leave it alone. The box says It is a Walmart exclusive and the markings are unique and would not match the stock wheels.

I agree with Tom, go for a restoration and share with us the results. Nice find BTW. -
'55 Ford Panel on the bench.

Hey Gene, decades ago I took the kit back to stock and agree it is a pretty nice kit. Never understood why Monogram never offered the stock pieces. -
OK, I am very impressed. Thanks for sharing the photo.

Very nicely done and now I know what Belisha Beacons are!

Nicely done indeed. Never knew of this kit but you nailed it. A friend had one and I drove it on a road trip and was quite impressed.

Nice. Are they both Spec Cast?

Super nice clean build.

While the 240Z is out of my normal model lane I always liked it and wanted to buy one in 1971 but with a new baby we had to settle for a Vega GT Kammback instead. So after getting my kart filled with bird food at Walmart I felt it was appropriate to check out diecasts and was surprised to find this M2 Nissan 1970 Fairlady 240Z. Yes it is a Nissan and not a Datsun. The first give away are the mirrors and then the steering wheel on the right hand side. Just wished it had a body colored hood and stock wheels. But wait, this model is the high performance Z432 with the S20 engine so is correct for what it is. There was also a 1952 VW Beetle b y M2 but it did not look right to me. The wheels looked small and the roof looked inflated so it did not follow me home.

Rest in peace Gary. I agree with Richard that Gary had a big influence on the hobby back in the "80s.

hungering for shrimp, moonshiners, and a munitions factory

Impressive all. -
Oh Gene, you have reignited the fire from 1964 when Pontiac stole the name from Ferrari.
-
Well done. Wheels make such a big difference.

Nicely done.

Matt, Upscale to 1/18 would certainly provide more options but I am committed to 1/24. Gary

I have a question for you Ferrari enthusiasts. As far as diecasts go I am familiar with the old made in Italy BBurago GTO but it is too big to be in scale. I am also aware of the Le Grandi/BBurago GTO diecast but the windshield surround is terrible in my opinion and would require modifying and repainting. Certainly there are plenty of plastic kits available, see Alex's Italian Horses database, and even the Western Models white metal body kit. But I am not finding any decent 1/24 250 GTOs. What am I missing? This is my old BBurago with a few mods.

It has been 57 years since I built a drag car other than the 289 Dragon Snake but you sure are tempting me now.
